QOTD: Does your town have any cool bookshops and do you get to visit often?

AOTD: My office is right around the corner from @waterstones_edi so I frequently pop in on my lunch break... at least once or twice a week, because I’m weak and it’s too much temptation. We also have some really awesome independent bookshops like Transreal Fiction, Till’s Bookshop and @lighthousebks. When I pop back to Northumberland for a visit I will always try to squeeze in a trip to @barterbooksuk, which is an iconic tour stop for anyone travelling around that part of the country.

➵ “One way or another, we always feed the crows.” That’s the first line of the synopsis I read of this book. The Merciful Crow “had me at hello,” essentially. And the cover is one of my favorites this year! Margaret Owen crafts a powerful saga of vengeance, survival, and sacrifice in this debut novel. ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
➵ QOTD: Predictive text: “One way or another, we always...” ⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
➵ AOTD: One way or another, we always end up getting there early. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
➵ Thank you to @fiercereads for this advanced copy. The Merciful Crow by @what_eats_owls releases July 30th! ⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
➵ Synopsis:
A future chieftain

Fie abides by one rule: look after your own. Her Crow caste of undertakers and mercy-killers takes more abuse than coin, but when they’re called to collect royal dead, she’s hoping they’ll find the payout of a lifetime.

A fugitive prince

When Crown Prince Jasimir turns out to have faked his death, Fie’s ready to cut her losses—and perhaps his throat. But he offers a wager that she can’t refuse: protect him from a ruthless queen, and he’ll protect the Crows when he reigns.

A too-cunning bodyguard

Hawk warrior Tavin has always put Jas’s life before his, magically assuming the prince’s appearance and shadowing his every step. But what happens when Tavin begins to want something to call his own? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

  • Thursday 🌿 I got to hear an incredible commencement speech today by @gian_paul_g abut being “All in”. Giving 100% and being committed to our work, relationships, family or whatever endeavor we are called to. And not just for ourselves but for others and the people that are impacted by our actions. 🌿 it was really inspiring to take a second look at my job, my relationships, and even my hobbies like this bookstagram and recommit to being all in.

  • In honour of World Book Day I would like to share my favourite bookshops around the world. Swipe to see all three!

1)LX Factory, Livraria Ler Devagar, Lisbon Portugal. As you can see in the photo, this shop is magical and is a book lovers paradise.
2)Libreria Acqua Alta - Venice, Italy. It has its own staircase of books which overlook the canal, and an incredible interior space with amazing finds. Two cats run the cashier.

3) Livraria Lello, Porto, Portugal. The bookshop which served as inspiration for J.K Rowling and the Harry Potter Series.

Can you recommend some more bookshops I can visit? Any good books you’ve read recently? 📷: @kattislundin

  • 🌳 #tqmresenha 🌳 Querido Evan Hansen |Val Emmich, Steven Leven son, Justin Paul, Benj Pasek | @editoraseguinteoficial | 336 p. | 4🌟
.

  • Outcast by Jamie Schlosser! This was the book that I read today! I always read at least one book a day #speedreader. I really liked this book! It’s different and a much much lighter read than usual but I still really enjoyed it.
It was sweet and cute and I always love the love at first sight fantasy and this book definitely had that! Our main characters Kayla and Ezra were perfect together in my opinion I really liked that it wasn’t your typical ‘hero with abs and hot as fuck’ although he turned out pretty damn sexy, and I loved that Kayla loved him despite his imperfections, Ezra was quite badly bullied for a disability and his weight. I like how Schlosser created Kayla’s character as strong, kind, compassionate and not conforming to stereotypes. Kayla was bullied because of her race, and this made me mad but I liked the impact and message it had when reading this story, as I believe that some small towns can find it difficult to accept change and people who are different, which is a sad.
I like how after Ezras transformation he was first enticed into being something he was not, it made it more realistic and easy for people who may have been bullied or not had many friends to connect with as they feel the need to fit in and feel needed! I’d also like to mention that I went into this book expecting it to be clean and was pleasantly surprised! Although a timid timid character, Ezra takes command of the bedroom and shows some heat! Definately give it a read and let me know what you think! #bookreview #bookstagram #book #romancebooks #indiebooks #contemporarybooks #bookshelf #bookporn #bookshelf #bookshelf #bookalicious #bookworm #bookjournal #bookobsessed #outcast #jamieschlosser

  • It's #throwbackthursday!
That means there is only 1 more day until Friday guys!!
What is your go to book?
What is the book that you would never/could never get rid of?
The one that holds a special place in your heart?

Mine is The Search by Nora Roberts.

Honestly, I couldn't tell you what it is particularly about this book or why but I adore this book with all of my soul.
When I'm sad and missing my mother, wanting to be near her again, I grab this book.
When I'm angry, I grab this book.
When I'm feeling happy and need just a tiny bit of romance, you guessed it.
This book goes with me everywhere.

A book about brain science.
Personally I found these theories below interesting:
1) too long focusing is harmful to a certain part of your brain
2) meta cognition makes you think reasonably and calmly
3) fatigued eyes come from fatigued brain so you should sometimes see a distant place when working
4) “how long you should sleep” depends on individual
5) onsen itself doesn’t always make you feel relaxed
6) aerobic exercise after workout is effective not only to your body but also to your autonomic nerves

Brain is so mysterious!

  • Ovu sliku objavljujem sada jer, naravno, danju spavam, a noću... Isto spavam.
Nije to isto.
.
.
Naravno, link će biti u opisu profila😍🤗 #book #bookstagram #bookquotes #books #bookshelf #bookworm #bookish #bookobsessed #bookpics #bookalicious #home #evening #knjiga #citanje #knjigoljupci #knjiskimoljac #knjigomanija

  • This book. I have no words.

Actually, I have many, so here they are. I LOVE this book. It's probably unhealthy the amount of love I have for this book. Something about it just makes me so inexplicably happy, and I am so glad Rainbow Rowell exists and wrote this book.
I read Fangirl for the first time two years ago, and absolutely fell in love. I've read it countless times since then, and my love for it grows each time.
The first book of Rainbow Rowell's that I read was Eleanor and Park, which blew me away. There aren't many books that make me physically cry, but that one did. After reading it, I just had to read more of her work. I went out and bought Fangirl the second I had the money and don't regret it one bit. Maybe I'll do a post about Eleanor and Park soon, who knows?
Anyways, enough of me gushing about this book and Rainbow Rowell. How did you guys like Fangirl? Did you love it as much as me? Let me know! (Also: I 100% named my dog after Levi)

  • Books I read recently, and a short review. 🤓📚 Starting from the bottom: 1️⃣ I enjoyed this book. It was a mix of travel stories and travel suggestions/advice. 2️⃣ I breezed through this book and enjoyed it. It’s quirky, so it might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I liked it. 3️⃣ Nope. I’m an eclectic reader so even though I thought this book might not be my thing, I still decided to give it a whirl. Not for me at all, but that’s just my opinion. 4️⃣ Next up? I’m about to start Paris by the Book by Liam Callanan.
3️⃣ Nope. • One of the last pictures featuring this desk— moving out to go back home for the summer in less than a week... crazy how fast freshman year has gone!

Here is one of the books I have acquiring during my year in Nashville! I talked about it briefly before but I am very excited to start this thriller. ———————————————————
What are y’all doing this summer?

  • One of my coworkers was on her lunch break. I noticed she kept looking at her hands, and it drew my curiosity. I would have never expected seeing the tiniest book of my life. It’s a comic series that she reads, and she happens to collect these small books. I can’t get over the size. 😱

  • While I love Bookstagram, I have to say I've realized that I prefer blogging.
+ The reason is that in the blogging world, these other bloggers truly become your family. You get to know them in such a level that is unreal. If something was done to one of us, we all feel it and will riot all of us together. If one of us is down, we are there. And we aren't there for the views on our blog, for comments, sharing of posts, etc. While that is truly appreciated, that doesn't matter. What matters is that someone is there listening, paying attention, engaging. It's like I have a voice in the blogging world.
+ Sadly, in my 5 years of bookstagramming, I've never had that here. To a point, it feels like people read what they want to read, like what they want to like, engage with who seems cool, and that's it. I know there are some who are genuine and it shows when we interact and in their posts.
+ No, I'm not already quitting Bookstagram. I'll still be active. You won't get rid of me so easily again 😉 I just felt like I needed to open up about this and let you know how I've been feeling.

  • So Star Wars Celebration got me in a mood and I've been reading more Star Wars - just finished this trilogy. .
.
.
.
It was.. enjoyable. These actually take place directly after the original Thrawn trilogy. It follows Luke as he searches out new Jedi and sets up his Jedi Academy (hence the name Jedi Academy trilogy). Han and Chewie get into some standard Han and Chewie shenanigans on Kessel, Lando gets involved because Lando is awesome. Poor Leia is stuck with Jedi toddler twins AND trying to run the New Republic. For me, the biggest thing in deciding whether an EU entry is good or not is whether the established characters act like themselves. For the most part in these books, they do. Leia is definitely Leia, she's strong, independant, a great leader. Luke is Luke - he makes some mistakes but generally is a great guy and tries his hardest at setting the Jedi up and helping his friends whenever they need it. Han is of course Han, though he's married with kids, he's still basically a rogue. My biggest issue with these is C-3PO. Good Lord. The author must have HATED C-3PO in the films because he is so incredibly annoying in these, much more so than in the movies. Other than that, my only issue is the slightly recycled plot of there being a gigantic world ending device run by remnants of the Empire. Again. For the 4th time. Oh look another Death Star and a ship that can blow up entire stars and take out an entire star system. It gets a bit repetitive. Thus is an issue with the EU in general, really. But anyway, I'm rambling. These are a really enjoyable entry into the Star Wars EU - the gang's all here and acting like we know them to be. Except for C-3PO - shut up, Goldenrod.

  • We need more morally grey hero books. Catwoman is so freaking amazing. I absolutely love the DC sirens, and to see them together in a novel?!!!!!! Wow.
.
Also happy Passover to all of my Jewish friends. I went to my uncle’s place for second night sader, there were over 30 people and somehow we are all related???? I didn’t know half of them 😂😂. Oh and I met one of the people my grandmother is trying to set me up with.

  • Hola a tod@s!!!
