  • Here’s an old picture from last year of me with one of my favorite thrillers: No Exit! 👀 This book is a fast-paced, anxiety-filled intense ride and I loved it so much! If you haven’t read it yet, you definitely should! I was holding my breath for 90% of this story and I couldn’t wait to see where the story went! 😱 I’m #currentlyreading All The Ugly and Wonderful Things and I’m 200 pages into it! Have you read No Exit? What are your thoughts? #book #noexit #me #thriller #tayloradams #booksofinsta #booksofig #booksofinstagram #bookstagram

  • What series do you NEED to finish this year?
❤
I am GOING to FINISH A Darker Shade of Magic this year. I only have A Conjuring of Light left so I can do it! Even if I'm terrified 😅. I loved the first 2 but keep putting off the last one.
❤

Popsugar Reading Prompt: A book told from multiple POVs

Quote:
I don’t know. I don’t know at all. And that’s what’s frightening the life out of me. To have no idea.

When I was in high school, I was obsessed with Detective Kindaichi and Detective Q manga. The plot is pretty much the same. Put a few people in isolated place. One by one people were murdered, usually in a locked room and other people have solid alibi.

It’s pretty much the same with this book from Agatha Christie. 10 people received a letter inviting them for a holiday retreat on an island.

One by one were murdered, using a nursery rhyme, “10 Little Soldiers”, as the murderer’s theme. They only have one thing in common; all of them were guilty of murdering someone else and the law was unable to prosecute them.

  • 🔮 PRE-ORDER IS LIVE!!🔮 https://books2read.com/lostcoven02

Blurb:
In helping someone I love, I lost my life. Or did I?

Cut off from my body, I live in the home of a god who’s willing to train me, to help me fully embrace my powers, both as a witch and as a reaper. But while I lay in a coma, the men I left behind suffer, desperate to find a way to bring me back.

I want to return to them, but our family is not complete. One is missing, a member of the coven who was lost before they found me. And I must go on a quest to Purgatory and bring him back, or we’ll forever be incomplete.

I’m coming home to my men, to my family, but will my return bring relief or doom us all?

Reread 📖

Crooked Kingdom -Leigh Bardugo
Kraai en Koninkrijk -Leigh Bardugo

I finished this book (615 pages!) in two days. Two days 🙀 I don't even know how I did that.
•
If I had to pick a favourite between Crooked Kingdom and this one, I'd have to go for this one. You can murder someone with the weight of this book and yet not a single chapter left me bored. The stakes are high, I adore the characters (Kaz is my least favourite because I just find him rude 😂), and I cared about EVERYONE is this book. Loved it even more the second time reading it 💙
•
Twee dagen 🙀 Hoe is me dit gelukt? 😂
•

At first I thought this was going to be a very quick, bit 'empty' , but enjoyable read, where you enjoy the story, the writing but in the end it's a book you'll probably forget soon. .
But as I continued reading I left I was getting deeper and deeper in the minds of Connell and Marianne, with only snippets of their lives and mostly through the dialogues between them. So you get very brief but intense look into their lives. My only problem with this book is probably the ending. Without saying too much, I feel there was basically no ending. Maybe that was Rooney's intention and I can accept that but I was still hoping for a more solid ending. .
Other than that, I couldn't put the book down. Rooney wanted to tell the story of Connell and Marianne, and she took off all that was unnecessary. There are no description of places and time passes real quick, and it's difficult to put all your words on just the characters and have them form the book, but Rooney did a fantastic job. She filled the gaps where they were needed and left the others that didn't add to her characters. You follow both characters from their high school days into their adult lives. You see their struggles, their success and their attraction to each other that both can't seem to quite figure out how to deal with.
.
Though some parts did seem repetitive, I felt they were part of the story, it was The story.
Rooney is a confident writer, and very talented and I plan to read Conversations with Friends as well once my book buying ban is over📘
.

  • TITLE: HOLDING UP THE UNIVERSE
RATING: ⭐⭐⭐ 1/2 "Because sometimes when you meet someone, it changes the world, theirs and yours." This book follows the relationship that grows between Libby Strout and Jack Masselin, two teens who meet because of a vicious bullying "game" that lands them in group counseling. Libby, who became known as "American's Fattest Teen" when she had to be cut out of her home, is returning to school after years away mourning her mother and tending to her own health. Jack is hiding the fact he can't recognize faces, not even his own, so he overcompensates by trying to be the life of the party. To protect himself, he ends up making Libby a target for bullies.
Libby and her counterpart, Jack, take turns telling their story in Holding Up the Universe: Both speak intimately and honestly, confronting difficult truths about themselves and the people they're closest to. Despite their unique circumstances, the struggles they face -- to be seen, to be heard, to be respected, to be given room to be themselves -- are universal. was an interesting and moving read with complex characters and a unique storyline. The book motivates us to accept ourselves the way we are and never try to hide our real selves. This is a terrific book for encouraging teens to be their own wonderful selves.

  • It’s HUMPDAY! It’s the day before the day before the day before the weekend! So it’s practically Saturyay.
The weekend is when I actually take the bulk of my photos and with this new round of photographs, I’ve had a few people ask for some tips. I’m going to share some HOOKANDTALE knowledge but there are also some questions I haven’t been able to answer and I hope you guys will jump in to answer some of them!
⠀ ⠀
✨Props- they can be as expensive and as DIY as you want. I’ve purchased some wooden props at the Target $1 section and I’ve purchased $15 floral bouquets. You can really go any way. Some of my favorite props are wooden pencils purchased on amazon, plaid scarves I’ve found around the house, potpourri purchased at TJ Maxx, book pages ripped off of books I don’t read and coffee!
✨I generally try to take a big batch of photos all in one go. This makes sure that the lighting is consistent for all of my photos. I use the app VSCO for photo editing and UNUM for planning my photos ahead of time. Canva and Unfold are my go to for IG Story templates.
✨Take your photos with NATURAL light! This makes the quality of your photo much higher. If you own an iPhone with the Portrait mode, that’s what I use at all times. Sharpening each image also makes the photos CRISPY AF and that makes them look that much sharper.
⠀ ⠀
QOTD》I was recently asked for a recommendation on where to purchase books that have been translated into different languages. Drop some recs if you got it! 👇🏼

QOTD》I was recently asked for a recommendation on where to purchase books that have been translated into different languages. Drop some recs if you got it! 👇🏼

  • I got tagged by @ocean_bookworm to do a #5booksthatdefineyou challenge. Here goes! ..
📚Necronomicon: The Best Weid Tales of HP Lovecraft. My favorite book of all time. Imagine all the morbid cosmic horrors this book contains. Horror is my main genre. I picked up the 1st Harry Potter book just cause I saw "witches" at the back and this was even before it became popular. Anything horror I'll read or watch. ..
. 📚The Nazi Hunters by Andrew Nagorski. It tells the endeavors of a group of men and women determined in catching the world's worst war criminals in history. Other than dark fiction, dark history also fascinates me. From ancient history, the sacking of Rome, to the Salem Witch trials, the Black Plague... down to the Holocaust.
..
📚The Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien. Such a wonderful world to escape to. I remember devouring this inside a closet at night with a burning candle just cause my mom didn't allow me to read anything other than my textbooks for school. That night was a reminder for me that when I graduate, I'd buy all the books I want and there's nothing my mother can do about.
..
📚Exquisite Corpse by Poppy Z. Brite. What if Jeffrey Dahmer met Dennis Nielsen? This book answers that question. Serial killers have intrigued me since reading about Jack the Ripper in a Reader's Digest supplement. The man, motive, MO and the mind. Ask me about a serial kiler's deeds and I'll tell you who it is. I'm that obsessed.
.
📚The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. I love the classics! From the Iliad, Beowulf, Don Quixote, Shakespeare, the Grimm fairytales, de Maupasant, to Les Misarables. But the revenge story of Edmond Dantes takes the top spot. I've read it multiple times now.
.
📚 Throwing in a bit of extra, my 6th book is Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Who doesn't love a good murder mystery? I go on my excercise machine, fold my clothes, eat lunch, take a bath, clean the house & exercise with a murder documentary playing in the background. He'll, I think i weird my neighbors out. 😁
