  • At over 200 years old, the Coit House is believed to be Buffalo's oldest. The story of George Coit begins years earlier in his native Norwich, CT. He worked in a pharmacy where he struck up what would be a lifelong friendship with Charles Townsend. The two worked and saved their money. After stocking up on merchandise, they headed for the pioneer village of Buffalo, where the population stood at about 500.
They bought a lot on Swan Street to build their store. A year later, it was destroyed along with most of the village when the British set it on fire in the War of 1812. The two rebuilt their drugstore and became fathers of a growing community. With the pending completion of the Erie Canal, the two sold their store and entered the shipping business. Along with others, they ensured the canal terminus was in Buffalo, not Black Rock, guaranteeing Buffalo's future growth.
Around the same time George Coit married his best friend's sister, Hannah Townsend. They started a family and lived in this home, then located on Sean Street. Sadly, Hannah died shortly after the birth of their eighth child in 1835. Their first son was named Charles, just as Townsend had named his first son George.
Decades later, the home was moved to its location on Virgina Street. It had fallen into disrepair and was divided into apartments, but was saved from demolition and restored in the 1970s. The owners, interior designers, have toyed with selling the house, but it is currently off the market. Interior photos are in my latest story under Buffalo.

  • I learned a BIG lesson this past summer 😳... my twin, dad, & I were in our kayaks in hopes of kayaking down rapids 🛶...
.
But when we got to the rapids, we noticed the water LOW... so low that my dad (an expert kayaker in my eyes 👀) almost didn’t attempt them.
.
But in true Dad fashion... he went down the rapids first. Once he finished, he asked if I wanted to try & I said NOPEEEE 🤯. It looked WAY too rough, rocky, and scary.
.
Long story short, my dad convinced me that he had belief in me to run a small portion of the rapids... so I tried it... AND SURVIVED 💯!
.
It was so fun, that I tried a bigger portion... and after 3 runs I built up enough confidence where I kayaked the entire rapids 🌊!!!
.
At the end... it seemed silly that something that I had just CONQUERED seemed so scary at first 🤦🏼‍♀️.
.
I’m applying this lesson to several areas of my life, but MOSTLY my business.
.
Do I want to be a 6 figure earner 💰 in my accountability coaching job & pay off all my student loan debt, like.... NOW?!!
.
Yes.
.
But I’m taking it one baby step & a time. I’ll get there. I’ll reach all my goals 🎖. And YOU will too.... we’ve just gotta keep taking the small steps in the right direction 🙌🏻.
.
Thanks @newyorkcraftmalt for continuing to teach me life lessons... even when I’m 31 👵🏻!

  • This past week was a WHIRLWIND 💨! Maine > Boston > Buffalo > Boston > Maine.
.
It all started with co-presenting with @tricia.hawley at the Abilities Expo in Boston! 🎤 It was such a unique and amazing opportunity to speak alongside my Mom where we guided people to be their strongest 💪🏻 & most empowered ✨ version of themselves.
.
From there, I spent a week with my family 🥰, made fall crafts with my aunt 🍁, spent time with friends 👭, treated some patients with MS in their own homes 🧡, and roadtripped back to Maine 🚙.
.
Amongst all this craziness, I was able to stick to my workouts each day 🏋🏼‍♀️ which is SO important for someone like me who NEEDS routine 😅.
.
It’s been busy, but fun 😆 & I’m excited to jump back into m typical Monday routine.
.
Do YOU crave routine or do you prefer to live each day differently?!

  • I remember the days where I had to dip into my savings to come home for Christmas 🎄.
.
The days where if I hit an unexpected toll 🚙, I’d immediately burst into a sweat 🥵 & strategize how I could make up for that lost money.
.
As I head back to Maine today, I’m forever grateful that I stepped out of my comfort zone 😬 & started sharing my workouts & wellness journey on social media.
.
The side income I earn from part time accountability coaching means I can purchase a last minute flight to visit my parents 🥰, not worrying about how much gas $$ ⛽️ I can afford to put in my car, and feeling more FREE 🌱!
.
Oh, and this is my moms cute pup, Bodhi 🐶
