#thisisfostercare // A Letter to My Past, Newly-Licensed, Brand New Foster Parent Self ❤️
Welcome to the wildly unpredictable, vague, at times overwhelming, incredibly heartbreaking, yet joy-filled world of foster care. You will soon learn that pretty much every foster parent, old and new, is still learning as they go along. Don’t feel overwhelmed. You will learn better how everything works, too.
You will soon learn that although you expected some differences, experiencing real life foster care is night and day different than the quick 10-week class and home study you had to complete to become licensed. That’s okay. Just take a deep breath. You’ll soon learn that almost every other foster parent has experienced some of those hard realizations of realities in the system that you are currently experiencing. You aren’t alone.
Depending on the situation, you might soon have the chance to build a relationship with birth parents. So, if you have the opportunity, get to know them. Love them. Love them hard. Love their kids hard. Pour into their lives expecting nothing in return; treat just as you’d want to be treated. Because someday, when you say goodbye to the bundle of joy you’ve been holding in your arms for them, it might not be goodbye after all. Befriend the mothers that you get to meet. Go above and beyond to do so, even when people tell you that you don’t have to try as hard as you are. Trust me. It’s worth it. It’s worth it to look at that child you’ve grown so attached to being held by his or her biological mother and to love what you see. To see her eyes in their eyes. To step back from the parenting role you’ve been in for so long, to be a friend to their mom, and to be someone who still gets to be a part of that child’s life in a small way. That privilege will wreck you in the best way. So, love the child, and pursue the bio family. Even when it’s hard. Especially when it’s hard. It will be worth it. This is the goal of Foster Care. It is worth it. 🌱 #fostermom#fosterparent#fosterlove
We usually photograph weddings and receptions but here and there we get the great opportunity to photograph other special moments. In this Instance we had a chance to take some fun family portraits of Thanushan & Bristina’s family.
We tried a new editing style for these photographs and we would love to know your opinion on them.
My sweet Boo is receiving his First Communion this weekend and my Momma heart just can’t take it... time is SUCH a thief. 😢 We made his First Communion banner this past weekend and he was so proud of it that he actually gave me a real smile instead of that squinty forced fake smile he’s been doing for the last year or so. 😂 We are so excited and proud that he’s taking the next step to grow in his faith but I am just in disbelief that it’s only four days away. Motherhood is such a roller coaster of happiness and sadness - happiness in loving our babies and watching them grow and learn, and sadness because it just goes by too darn quickly.

If I could live on the beach 24 hours a day, I’d be so happy 🥰
Spent Ashlyn’s birthday at the beach playground, riding bikes on the boardwalk, family over for dinner and cake...
She went to bed tonight saying “It was the best day and my family is my favorite”. ❤️
Mission accomplished 😍
How often do you wash your hair? I’ve cut back a ton in the last two years to just 1-2 times a week, and my hair has never been healthier! ✨🌿✨

But today we faced the rain and got out and safe to say this girl had F U N. Swipe to see the pure joy a see saw can bring 😍😍😍
She always asks to hold her baby cousin but I have a hunch her baby cousin is going to be taller than her pretty soon.

Because wearing one baby on the outside and growing one on the inside totally counts as double baby wearing right? 😜😂🙌🏻 Also because @wildbird is releasing a new collection tomorrow and it’s super dreamy AND they are giving away a sling (of your choice) to you AND the person you tag 😘✨✨✨ TO ENTER: 🌷Like this post 🌈 Be following myself and @wildbird 🌼 tag a few friends who might also want a ring sling (or might let you have both if you win 😜 j/k). More friends = more entries! (One per comment please)
DONE 🍄 this is not sponsored or endorsed by Instagram. Closes on Friday at 10pm MST and is open U.S only. (Though hypothetically if you had a U.S based friend who might also want a sling and would ship or bring you yours international I mean that could work right? 🤷♀️❤️) Good luck 😘

There is my heart,
and then there is you,
and I’m not sure there is a difference.
I love motherhood. Every relationship and bond is so different and special, but what’s always constant is the love. And this sweet boy loooooved his mama!

Things I’ve begun to believe since following in another’s footsteps:⠀
The best plans change ⠀
Come as you are⠀
Small steps are steps all the same⠀
And share whatever you can with others⠀
Because to him, everything is a gift and he makes every one of us feel like it #loveletterstopip#lifeofsomethingminted#somethingmintedphotography
I hope you gain insight from those you encounter and embody lifelong learning.
I hope you cry when you are sad.
I hope you cry when you are joyous.
I hope you speak with eloquence and love.
I hope you gaze at the moon in admiration.
I hope you accept the journey of LIFE with ease and calm.
I hope you choose tolerance.
I hope you travel to seek, not travel to tourist.
I hope you help people without expectations or applause.
I hope you never seek validation from others in any aspect of your life.
I hope you are confident in your desires and remain true to your personal passions.
I hope you cling to wonder and curiosity.
I hope you recognize your power to manifest an intentional and tranquil life.
I hope you are capable of being happy for others.
I hope you understand that gratification is fleeting, as is every emotion and moment.
I hope you find peace in simplicity.
I hope you transform this world, but do not become lost in the trend.
I hope you remain truthfully, and authentically yourself throughout every aspect in your life baby boy.
I love you Greyson Alex — you will always be my first ❤️
Belly laughs on the #mascoutintrail tonight. Finn wanted to hold Rosie’s hand and she was thrilled. Then they heard the cows down the road mooing and Finn tried mooing back...while jumping...MUCH to Rosie’s delight. At one point she fell down and dropped her toy and Finn stood next to her as she got up saying ‘you’re ok! Here’s your toy sissy, are you ready?’ Sometimes two littles is a lot of work and sometimes it’s the greatest thing in the world.
