For all the gear obsessions and fetishes I may have had in my life, nothing has come as close to the unalloyed and enduring joy of being able to acquire a piece of original art from my absolute favourite photographer, Laura Pannack.
If you are not familiar with her or her work, then you should certainly explore what she is doing. As well as being easily one of the most talented photographers of her generation, creating some of the most poignant and authentic portraiture, bursting with humanity and expression and utterly gorgeous to behold, she is also an absolute treasure of a human being. I want my children to grow up into who they want to be, but if they turn out on iota like Laura, I will be incredibly proud and happy.
But maudlin and mawkish hero worship aside, her work is sublime, and I am extremely grateful to have been able to acquire a substantial print of easily my favourite of her images.
