Yes, you read that correctly. The brain, just the brain, needs about 120 grams of carbohydrate daily to perform its functions (providing that number for the sake of making the point, not to suggest that you need to be counting or tracking macros). You know...maintaining the environment necessary for transmitting action potentials for nerve impulses (throwback to neurobiology 🧠😬), synthesizing neurotransmitters and all that other crazy complex and amazing activity that goes on. Sorry (not sorry) keto people, our brains (and bodies) LOVE carbs, and prefer them for fuel. It’s no wonder why restricting carbs leads us to feel preoccupied with them- it’s our brain signaling somethings not quite right- and the answer is not to white knuckle it and restrict more carbs. Glucose is necessary. All carbs provide that same glucose. Here is your friendly reminder to tune out the diet culture noise and treat your body with respect and kindness 🥪🥞🥖🥨🥐🥯🍞🍕🍟🥔 note: this number is not hard and fast (not a rule- a guideline) and of course will vary based on the individual and other context.

Dont get me wrong, I loooove savory, but if I had to choose.. sweets would always win 🥰😋
For these Oatmeal Creme Stuffed Cookies, I simply made some oatmeal cookies (recipe from @lovingitvegan 😍 direct link in bio) and vegan buttermilk frosting by @minimalistbaker.. slapped them together and I love them cold so in the fridge they went 💙😋

Have you seen those “weight loss” infographics floating around the gram showing how many burpees it takes to burn off a Christmas cookie??? It’s a cool story and all, but not eating Christmas cookies is basically against my beliefs 🤷🏾♀️🍪 Jesus turned WATER into WINE are you telling me He would turn down a CHOCOLATE CRINKLE COOKIE?? Probs not. WWJD ya’ll 🎄🍪😜

💥 Do You Get Bloated? 💥 .⠀
The important part of this post is the word MAYBE! Please god, do not comment below and say, ‘so everything makes you bloated then!’ I will cyber punch you 🤜 .⠀
These are examples of foods that can cause people to feel bloated. Everyone is different so if you get bloated a lot, take a good look at your diet and use some trial and error to try and solve the issue. If you feel you’ve done this and still no solution, you may have some gut issues, so go see a specialist and get some tests if needs be 👍⠀
Personally, I’m fine with most of these but then there’s the odd thing that bloats me. For example, I’m good with legumes but not beans. I’m fine with some protein bars but some others with loads of sweeteners (and soy protein in) I don’t do well. When it comes to dairy, I’m fine with most cheeses but not so much with ice cream and milk⠀
See what I mean? You have to be in tune with your body and figure these things out, ok? Good ☺️⠀

Ahhhhhhh... I had this meal every day this week 🙈
. I felt the laziest this week- I needed some time to ‘recharge’. So my meals were so simple (but also delicious). This vegan wrap & hearty salad is perfect! -
-Hummus, LOTS of spinach, Sliced cherry tomatoes 🍅, Avocado 🥑(I used half) andddd Pan fried mushrooms 🍄
I added salt & pepper & some 🍋 juice & wrapped that baby up 🤪-
. The salad 🥗 is literally just spinach & cherry tomatoes, olive oil, a drizzle of balsamic vinegar 😋 & finally... to top everything off, I added a drizzle of tahini

When you try to resist making comments until you get your gifts.
Just let it go Mambo....be happy you got presents. Hopefully it’s not keto kibble.
Remember Santa 🎅 cutting out sugar or carbs is not the DIRECT cause for you to lose fat or weight....that comes from a consistent caloric deficit no matter the source of food.
If you like eating low carb foods, that’s fine do it as preference. But if you do enjoy carbs and are trying to cut them in order to lose fat and weight know this is completely unnecessary. You can also cut off a limb to lose fat and weight but there are less painful and more intelligent ways to do it.
Supersets are a fantastic way to squeeze in more training volume in less time.
You pair two exercises together and they're preformed back to back.
The antagonist superset,in which case the two exercises paired together work opposing muscle group,is probably what I prefer to do.
For example,if you are performing two quad exercises back to back, your muscles are going to be fatigues, hence you are not going to give your absolute best.
Instead of that, perform one quad exercise with one hamstring exercise.
Exercises shown in the video are:
1.DB Romanian Deadlift
I've posted this one before,an amazing and favourite of mine for glutes and hamstring.
(Rested for 45 sec in between)
2.Duck stance leg press
Well, this one is something that I am working more on the technique myself.
So this one is primarily focusing on adductors, glutes but on outer quads also, for that tear shaped look.
Cue for this one:
-Turn toes out wide and heels in narrow.
-Feet middle of plate.
-Lower the leg press by pushing knees outwards.
🍌💪🏽💥Bananas are famous for being rich in potassium, a mineral essential to optimise athletic performance. This mineral is a critical element in several bodily functions such as the movement of muscles, regulating the water levels in the body, and preventing cramps...... ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⭐️Bananas also provide athletes with quick and effective energy source through its substantial carbohydrate and sugar content. These carbs and sugar from bananas can provide the added energy to help keep the mind and body sharp throughout activity. With around 30g of total carbohydrates in each medium-sized banana, it’s an excellent and delicious way to get an instant boost of energy💥💥💥⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I also decided to finally make sourdough bread again after miserably failing last time and it turned out wonderful this time 🤩🍞 I looove sourdough, it tastes so special and is super easy on the digestion because of the long fermentation 🥰 even better when it’s homemade!! (If anyone’s interested in the recipe dm me 😋)

Today's lunch : rainbow pasta with garlic , spinach , black olives , olive oil and vegan parmesan cheese 🍲
Black sesame coffee mantou. Quite disappointing.. I can't taste the coffee, and there is just too little black sesame :/ but ok, the black sesame is on the sweet side so it's good that there isn't a lot to make this jelak or "diabetically" inedible. Would rather buy the plain mantou which is already amazing on it's own haha.

Carbs carbs carbs! 🍞🍬🥐🍭🥞🥔
Let's have a little #sciencelesson , shall we? 🤓 btw- that subway sub hit different...it was so good! 😫🤤😍
Definition: #Carbohydrates are organic compounds that contain carbon, hydrogen, & oxygen in various combinations. The major role of carbs in human nutrition is to PROVIDE ENERGY. ⚡
Most dietitians and nutrition scientists consider consumption of carbohydrate rich foods to be one of the most important components of a #healthydiet ! Not only for its potential in preventing certain chronic diseases, but also as an integral part of a proper diet to lose excess body fat.
Sooo....why does everyone hate on carbs then? 🤔😠
In general, the health effects associated with various sugars and starches (both simple & complex carbs) is not in the substances themselves, but rather in the nutrients (or lack thereof) that accompany them in the foods we eat. .
What do I mean?
Okay, think about orange juice and a Coke. Both contain sugar. However, the orange juice contains substantial amounts of vitamin C, potassium, and other nutrients. The coke has zero micronutrient content. .
And since we are talking about carbs..."wHaT aBoUt KeTo, iT wOrKs sO wELl" 😑🙄
Um, well. The success you see people achieve from #Keto is most likely due to overall decreased caloric intake, not diet composition. So yes, Keto is going to work well for someone if they go from eating 3,000+ cals a day to about 1,500. 🤷♀️
And remember, carbohydrates are the main source of many different micronutrients. So if you're kissing carbs good-bye, say good-bye to many important vitamins and minerals your body needs, too.
Not totally bashing Keto (actually I am lol), find something that works for you and stick with it. Remember ⭐SUSTAINABILITY ⭐ is that magic word in regards to dieting. .
Peace & love yall. Eat some damn #bread ok?

Today I had the delight of trying @ebbandflowcoffeeco I am someone who tends to be extremely picky when it comes to coffee spots. I was not disappointed today. I tried an iced lavender coffee with almond milk. I would certainly say this flavor falls under the acquired taste category, but if you tend to like bold and eccentric flavors, give the lavender a chance. The fact that they effectively pulled off the lavender, proved to me they are worthy, because something like that could easily flop. The real show stopper for me was the dreamy vegan cinnamon roll. There is a major lack of vegan options period in the west valley, even more specifically, sweets. I was elated to not only see a vegan option in their pastry display, but then it surpass my expectations. It’s a cute little spot with a marvelous view if you’d like to grab a coffee and stroll around. The very kind girl in the front informed me they have a few rotating vegan sweet options they offer depending on the day. Once I find out everything they offer that is vegan, I will update this post and let everyone know to make ordering easy breezy, because if you’re anywhere in the area, you def need to drop by ☕️✨
Menu update information: They have rotating vegan baked goods including banana bread, scones, cookies, and bundt cakes. They try to have the vegan cinnamon rolls as a staple. All of their smoothies and bowls are vegan. They use a vegan and gluten free granola as well as vegan protein powder. The matcha is sweetened with honey, but you can request it without. All coffee can be made using coconut milk, almond milk, soy milk, or oat milk. Most of the added coffee flavors are vegan not including caramel, white chocolate, or the sea salt caramel toffee. The regular chocolate flavoring is vegan though ☺️☺️

10 Steps to Going Plant-Based⠀
S T E P 3⠀
Choose a cessation A I D⠀
In this case, it's gotta be meal plans that'll save you through the first few weeks⠀
(If you want one, ping me and I'll send you a link to access a free 7 Day Kickstarter that you can put on repeat for a few weeks. No need to give me an email, unless you want, I love email too) ⠀
Meal plans will be CLUTCH in helping you stay organized, confident and knowing *exactly* what to eat, every single meal⠀
Fill it with food you know and love. This isn't a time to experiment with new recipes unless they literally have thousands of raving reviews. For me, it's always pasta first and really any kind of comfort food. This pic is a winter-y fennel pasta with castelvetrano olives, fennel fronds and if you're in the mood, using a vegan meat and vegan cheese⠀
🥢🍜🍚 #vegan 🥞🍔🍪⠀
When I quit smoking, I had to be prepared with a crutch of choice I'd use about 20 times a day (the # of cigs I used to smoke) so this time, it'll be much easier. 3-5 times a day...totally doable!⠀
🙂⠀ #nicorette was what I used, and for that, I'll forever be grateful for this drug gum ⠀
(burns like hell tho + then I got addicted to nicorette dang it)
The only side effects to going hardcore plant-based are good ones like losing weight, recovering faster from workouts, getting rid of inflammation in joints, clearer skin, way better quality of sleep, being immune to flu season, having the best 💩of your life 😬 and so much more. The longer you do it, the greater the benefits ⠀ #52weekplantbasedchallenge ⠀

Banana cottage cheese & yogurt bowl 🙌🏼🙌🏼 easy meal prep breakfast I got this idea from @allyliveswell many moons ago and it’s the best thing ever. •
- Flavored nonfat Greek yogurt! Either @twogoodyogurt@lightandfit or @walmart brand
- Cottage cheese!! I like to get the low-fat so I can add peanut butter 😋😋
- Fruit of choice: my favs are bananas or strawberries
- Cereal!!!! Mega Stuff Oreo Os is the best cereal hands down. I also love rice crispies, cherrios, puffed rice, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, etc... the possibilities are endless in the cereal department. Eat the things you love and stay in your calorie range and you’ll always be able to stay on track!!
- Peanut butter 😋😋 •
I’m not in a deficit but if I was I’d have strawberries or a different low carb fruit instead of a banana. I also might decrease the amount of cereal so I could still add peanut butter or just omit the PB and add more cereal 🤪 •
Today this is my afternoon “snack” cause I didn’t get a chance to eat breakfast this AM. Macros are 36p/76c/14f 466 calories if you add up the macros like I do 💕 my current calories are at 2000ish I am still on the struggle bus with consistency but I’m working on it.. maintenance is so hard. •
