  • We can find no greater proof of God's love for us than the willing sacrifice of his Son on the cross. Jesus' parting words, "It is finished!" express triumph rather than defeat. Jesus bowed his head and gave up his spirit knowing that the strife was now over and the battle was won. Even on the cross Jesus knew the joy of victory. What the Father sent him into the world to do has now been accomplished.
.
Lord Jesus, as I contemplate your loving self-giving on Good Friday, I ask you to fill my heart with a deeper knowledge and love of you. All of my infidelities and weaknesses contribute to what you have suffered. You did it out of love for me and for each one of my brothers and sisters. Thank you.

  • The Catholic Church Part 15:Indeed from time to time the previous phraseology is employed, and the Gospel message is termed the preaching of the Kingdom of God (Acts 20:25; 28:31). Within the Church the Apostles exercised that regulative power with which Christ had endowed them. It was no chaotic mob, but a true societypossessed of a corporate life, and organized in various orders. The evidence shows the twelve to have possessed (a) a power of jurisdiction, in virtue of which they wielded a legislative and judicial authority, and (b) a magisterial office to teach the Divine revelation entrusted to them. Thus (a) we find St. Paul authoritatively prescribing for the order and discipline of the churches. He does not advise; he directs (1 Corinthians 11:34; 16:1; Titus 1:5). He pronounces judicial sentence (1 Corinthians 5:5; 2 Corinthians 2:10), and his sentences, like those of other Apostles, receive at times the solemn sanction of miraculous punishment (1 Timothy 1:20; Acts 5:1-10). In like manner he bids his delegate Timothyhear the causes even of priests, and rebuke, in the sight of all, those who sin (1 Timothy 5:19 sq.). (b) With no less definiteness does he assert that the Apostolate carries with it a doctrinal authority, which all are bound to recognize. God has sent them, he affirms, to claim "the obedience of faith" (Romans 1:5; 15:18). Further, his solemnly expressed desire, that even if an angel from heaven were to preach another doctrine to the Galatians than that which he had delivered to them, he should be anathema(Galatians 1:8), involves a claim to infallibility in the teaching of revealed truth.

  • I can’t get through Good Friday service without getting emotional, yet I hardly have the faintest idea of what it would have been like that day.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Something so horrific BECAUSE of me. Each one of my sins is another scourge, another thorn, another nail. Yet He willingly participated in this torturous death FOR me. Because of His great and merciful love for me. And for you.

By His wounds, I am saved 🙌🏼

  • Good Friday is the day when we connect in a real way with the humanity of our Savior. In God’s merciful plan for our salvation, He wants us to know that Jesus shared in our human sufferings. He wants us to know that Jesus understands the day to day trials we face — anxiety, weariness, fear, and anguish. Our reality is Jesus’ reality as well. Have a blessed Good Friday!💙

  • Christ became obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.
Because of this, God greatly exalted him and bestowed on him the name which is above every other name.

  • Life is a blessing from God. Never forget that we didn't do anything to earn the life we have been given.
•
May we wake up each day and thank Him for another day. Thank Him for another opportunity to look like Him, love like Him, and care like Him.
•
Today is a new day! Let's be mindful of how we spend the day that we have been given. And remember, today is a gift we didn't earn.
Amen.
