  • When Steve & I were first engaged, we sat on my grandmother’s porch and took the 5 Love Languages test (have you done it???) ⠀
⠀
My number one is Quality Time, Steve’s is Physical Touch. We haven’t read many books on marriage or done specifically structured things besides prayer, but this book was so helpful to us. Especially since ya girl is not into cuddling 🙅🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ I don’t think there is a one-size-fits-all approach to marriage, but it never hurts to get to know one another in a deeper way, to be more intentional, and to make sacrifices out of love for the other. ⠀
⠀
So here is Steve sacrificing his hatred of the Internet for a photo and here is me sacrificing my pride by taking just a few (like 50) until we get one we like. #marriage #livingoutthevows

  • It is actually quite consoling to have someone with whom you can reveal the depths of your soul.  This sort of confidant is a great blessing when absolute confidentiality, mercy and understanding are offered.  Speaking even of your sins without hesitation can bring much healing when the person with whom we share these things responds with perfect love and is able to offer you the Mercy of God.  We all need such a confidant.  But in truth we do!  We have the priest, waiting for us in the glorious Sacrament of Reconciliation.  His confidentiality is certain, his compassion and mercy is offered and the forgiveness and Mercy of God is poured forth upon the deepest and darkest secrets in your heart.  Do not hesitate and do not delay in going to Confession.  You need this gift from our Lord and He will bless you with an abundance of His Mercy through it.

Reflect honestly upon the deepest and “darkest” sin in your heart.  What is it that you fear revealing the most?  The Lord desperately desires to enter into that darkness and bring the healing balm of His light and Mercy.  Do let Him in through the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  The power of this Sacrament is unmatched and is exactly what you need to begin your healing and to be set free from your burdens.  Do not fear it and do not put it off.  Make an act of faith today in this glorious Sacrament and you will be amazed at the effect that it has on your life.

  • Holy Saturday ✝️🕊
Here on earth, Jesus' disciples mourned his death and, since it was a sabbath day, they rested.
.
At the tomb, the guards that had been stationed there kept watch over the place to make sure that the disciples did not steal Jesus' body.
Scripture calls the abode of the dead, to which the dead Christ went down, “hell” - Sheol in Hebrew or Hades in Greek - because those who are there are deprived of the vision of God.

Such is the case for all the dead, whether evil or righteous, while they await the Redeemer: which does not mean that their lot is identical, as Jesus shows through the parable of the poor man Lazarus who was received into “Abraham's bosom”: “It is precisely these holy souls, who awaited their Saviour in Abraham's bosom, whom Christ the Lord delivered when he descended into hell.” Jesus did not descend into hell to deliver the damned, nor to destroy the hell of damnation, but to free the just who had gone before him. “The gospel was preached even to the dead.” The descent into hell brings the Gospel message of salvation to complete fulfillment.

This is the last phase of Jesus' messianic mission, a phase which is condensed in time but vast in its real significance: the spread of Christ's redemptive work to all men of all times and all places, for all who are saved have been made sharers in the redemption.

  • Fears. Doubts. Anxieties.
Your past. Your troubles. Your insecurities.
Whatever it is that’s keeping you in a tomb and preventing you from living a full life, today is a perfect day to give them all to Jesus so that He could banish them into hell right where they belong.
Easter people are free people, so today may we all make the decision to get out of our tombs and walk with Him into the glorious light of the resurrection. ❤️
🌿
“Keep, oh keep us, Savior dear
ever constant by Your side,
that with You we may appear
at the Eternal Eastertide.”
(Excerpt from 40 Days and 40 Nights)
🌿
Happy Easter, everyone! May we always remember this: Christ is alive so it’s Easter every day!

  • Anyone who loves musical theatre has “that musical”, “that show”. The one that captivated them beyond words. The one that caused them to be forever bitten by the “Broadway bug”. For me it’s Les Mis. I became not-so-mildly obsessed with it when my awesome high school drama club—that made my high school years some of the happiest of my life—did it as their annual fall musical.
In college, as my faith became an integral part of my life, Les Mis took on a whole new meaning as I began to more fully understand the themes of God’s forgiveness, redemption, mercy and above all, love that are at the core of the show.
As I met my beloved husband, Josh’s love for me—which emulates that of our Heavenly Father—allowed me to grasp the true meaning of Les Mis in a very tangible way.

Being able to see Les Mis this week was the most perfect way to enter into the Triduum. As we eagerly await our Lord’s Resurrection, we are reminded that no matter where we are in life, is never more than a prayer away—and His love never runs dry.

  • "Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures" (I Cor 15:3).
.
Our salvation flows from God's initiative of love for us, because "he loved us and sent his Son to be the expiation for our sins" (I Jn 4:10). "God was in Christ reconciling the world to himself" (2 Cor 5:19).
.
Jesus freely offered himself for our salvation. Beforehand, during the Last Supper, he both symbolized this offering and made it really present: "This is my body which is given for you" (Lk 22:19).
.
The redemption won by Christ consists in this, that he came "to give his life as a ransom for many" (Mt 20:28), that is, he "loved [his own] to the end" (Jn 13:1), so that they might be "ransomed from the futile ways inherited from [their] fathers" (I Pt 1:18).
.
By his loving obedience to the Father, "unto death, even death on a cross" (Phil 2:8), Jesus fulfills the atoning mission (cf. Is 53:10) of the suffering Servant, who will "make many righteous; and he shall bear their iniquities" (Is 53:11; cf. Rom 5:19).

  • Nobody was more devoted to Jesus then Mary. Especially this week in history. Loving and appreciating Mary is not worshiping Mary. Honoring Mary is not putting her before Christ. She shows us what devotion to Christ really looks like. And by setting the ultimate example of living for Jesus, she leads us straight to Him. You cannot love Mary more than Jesus does. And though she most fully cooperated with His plan for redemption, Christ's death and resurrection alone, bring us to Life everlasting. Catholics worshipping Mary is a Protestant myth. As a convert from protestantism, I found out for myself. Everything Protestants say about Catholicism is just wilful ignorance or worse. Jesus asked that we be one as He and the Father are one in the Garden that fateful night. Why can't we at least find clarity? Happy Resurrection Sunday. ✝️ #protestant #protestantism

Yes, the kids are excited for all the candy but they also get that Christ’s tomb will be empty tomorrow and we’ll rejoice in that together. We are doing our best to maintain a quiet home and embrace the silence of Holy Saturday. 🌿“Silence is fearful because it can evoke wounds that we don’t want to face. But silence is grace-filled, because it allows my wounded heart to long for the healing presence of Jesus. It can open my heart to accept and rejoice when signs and witnesses announce to me: he is risen.” - Fr. Richard Veras

  • Confession time. I have, yet again, been way too hard on myself. Way. Too. Hard. Today I was thinking of all the negatives. How we've been slacking on homeschool, how I've yet to exercise, how our house could use some cleaning, how the laundry doesn't get folded right away, how I could be doing more of my work, how my prayer has slacked, how utterly exhausted I am and how my sweet boy watches too much TV in the afternoon while I'm making dinner. But then I looked at the Cross. He reminded me to rest in His mercy. He reminded me to place my struggles in His Passion. That I am only a little under three weeks postpartum. That our sweet girl will only be little for a short time. That our sweet boy will only be a toddler for a short time. That I should draw strength from Him and from my husband and children. That this temporary and small suffering also brings immense joy. That it is okay to not cross everything off my to-do list. That I am never alone, He is always within me. .
.
"...when it seems to you that your suffering exceeds your strength, contemplate My wounds, and you will rise above human scorn and judgment. Meditation on My Passion will help you rise above all things." (Diary of Saint Faustina,1184)

  • Silence. The world holds its breath and is left without the Lord incarnate, alone. Our quiet today holds such a different significance than that of the day Jesus was placed in the tomb. Here, we wait in anticipation, knowing the ultimate joyful outcome. But the women who weeped at His side believed it was the end as mourning and hopelessness filled their hearts. May we comfort all who mourn, and may they be reminded of the Resurrection which purchased for us life eternal. Be still and know that He is God.

  • Last night on Good Friday I watched the Passion of the Christ. It is such a powerful and moving movie, but it’s also hard for me to watch. My heart is saddened every time with seeing all of the suffering that Christ had to endure because of our sins. He went through so much hurt, pain, and humiliation so that we could have everlasting life with Him.
+
Let us remember to humble ourselves always for our Savior. Just like we say in mass, “Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.”
+
There is no resurrection without the crucifixion. Thank you Jesus for your courage and strength. I love you Jesus my love, never let me offend you, grant that I may love you always and do with me as You will.

There is no resurrection without the crucifixion. Thank you Jesus for your courage and strength. I love you Jesus my love, never let me offend you, grant that I may love you always and do with me as You will.

  • Easter is a glorious time to be Catholic. There is nothing more wonderful to participate in than the various liturgies of the Easter Triduum, the holiest time of year. This is the solemn three-day period, from the night of Holy Thursday to the Easter Vigil, when the Church accompanies her Savior in His Passion, death, and resurrection. #holysaturday #EasterTriduum #EasterVigil

  • “Today there is a great silence over the earth, a great silence, and stillness, a great silence because the King sleeps; the earth was in terror and was still, because God slept in the flesh and raised up those who were sleeping from the ages. God has died in the flesh, and the underworld has trembled.” ~ Excerpt from an ancient homily for Holy Saturday ✝️
