  • Today my series of summer champagnes leads us to this Blanc de Blancs.
Malard produces a perfect champagne for the season.
When I slashed the bottle a smell of melon came out, then the nose revealed apple and honey.
In the mouth, the bubbles are fresh and we find the fruit. There is however a beautiful elegance and a certain complexity.
I can not wait to discover more champagne from their range.
Champagne and rosé are really the heroes of summer.

  • Antoine Bouvet is a young winemaker based in the Montagne de Reims. He works mainly old vines and has low production. This cuvée is 100% CH from 1957 vines. 2014 vintage. Disg in April 2018, 1,064 bottles. Aromatic and forward. Creamy, pear and quince driven with a hint of umami. It seemed like it was barrel aged because of its oxidative, weighty and rounded palate but supposedly its from extended lees contact during primary fermentation. It seems humble at first but then develops more complex and unique traits. A subtle sweetness at the end despite its 3g/l. I look forward to trying his other cuvées. 90 pts

  • Wine more, stress less and always remain grapeful 🍇 ..
💫
The September ladies weekend adventure of vineyard hoping and laughs over pouring. Took a limo tour from the city to Long Island so we can be responsible adults, best decision we could’ve made. Great wine paired with good weather was the perfect mixture for unlimited smiles and vibes the entire day.

#Repost @vineandbubble ・・・
In Issue No. 2 of @vineandbubble Magazine, @thebubblediva gives her advice on how to enjoy some of the more unusual places in Champagne.

Here are a few teasers:

The Perchingbar | High up in the Verzy forest sits a treetop bar with stunning views over the Montagne de Reims. Enjoy the small adventure of walking through the forest then a series of suspended bridges and swinging stairs to reach your destination. Sip your champagne on one of the swings, relax and take in the view.

Faux de Verzy | If you're visiting the Perchingbar, take time to discover the Verzy forest with its hauntingly beautiful dwarf beech trees from which it takes its name. The peculiar characteristics of these trees is thought to be from a genetic mutation which results in them being able to fuse branches and propagate from aerial limbs, giving them a very wide canopy. It's an easy walk through a fenced reserve, so visitors can admire the trees without damaging the delicate root system. Some impressive specimens have been given special names. Look out for the Maiden’s Fau; legend has it that Joan of Arc once napped at the foot of the tree.

Le Phare de Verzenay | A lighthouse in the middle of vineyards without a drop of ocean to be seen! It was built about 100 years ago as a marketing ploy, and now houses an interesting champagne museum. Take the stairs to the top for unparalleled views of the vineyards.

  • What a memorable bottle! 1982 @domperignonofficial is so exciting in its balance and elegance that you can’t even take notes. It’s incredible fruit, without a sign of oxidation, mature apricot, nutmeg and macadamia nuts, peach and saffron, with a spicy dried orange peel. The mouth is round harmony and the most amazing thing is the rithm of the sip. You can drink a bottle at anytime, any season with any pairing. Versatile, drinkable, silky, fresh, intense, with a bright long finish.
