Today is a short but tough one!! @finolaphysio and I are showing an amazing flow to strengthen your shoulder muscles, particularly the rotator cuffs.  Shoulder pain is incredibly common and a great way to treat or prevent shoulder pain during poses such as down dog is to specifically condition the muscles required for it which help support and stabilise the shoulder.

The exercises we are showing strengthen your rotator cuff muscles whilst putting weight through your arms as you would during downward facing dog. Your rotator cuff muscles keep your shoulder stable whilst you move them through range. As a downward dog shoulder position is at the end of shoulder range it’s even more important to have stability. @finolaphysio will talk more about shoulder pain tomorrow #checkitout

1️⃣PLANK SCAPULA PUSHUPS
Come into plank position engaging the core throughout. Inhale squeezing the shoulder blades together as much as possible and exhale to push away from the floor pulling the shoulder blades away from your spine. Repeat x 10 repetitions.
2️⃣SHOULDER TAPS
In plank position engaging the core and pushing through your hands into the floor. Transfer your weight to your left arm (try to avoid twisting the pelvis too much and keep pushing away from the floor!) and tap your left shoulder with your right hand. Repeat on the other side. X 5 each side. This is so tough to do not twisting the hips!
3️⃣BEAR CRAWL
Starting in plank walk the right arm and left foot forward simultaneously.  Then walk the left arm and right foot forwards.  Now walk backwards in the same way.  Repeat x10.  Keep the core nice and strong throughout and move as slowly as possible.
