On this #CheerupthelonelyDay , we are sharing a colorful floral illustration from @missjillmcdonald. Take time to support others who are far from their families, live alone or are bedridden. Your small act of care could really brighten their day.

Hi campers! Hot-dogs or s’mores?⠀
Well I’m a vegetarian so, I’d say s’mores but I don’t really love marshmallows or graham crackers, so can I just sit by the campfire, toast a perfect golden marshmallow, give it away, and eat the chocolate? 😬🍫....⠀
A little bit tired out today after a scare with my computer dying on me and feeling a bit nervous about #campnano and my #YAStarSistersWIP suddenly, riiight as I hit 20K. It’s not super-fast paced for a sci-fi but with the 4 POVs I’m also not sure I have enough space to have the depth of character development I’d want and .... Ugh. This is a first draft. I just have to run with it! I LIKE quieter books! But it’s hard to give myself the pep talk sometimes.⠀
QOTD: What do you do to push through when you start doubting your novel?⠀
QOTD2: I have not read any Randa Abdel-Fattah! Is this a good one to start with??⠀
July 11 Challenges:⠀
⠀ #campinstawrimo : Hot dogs or s’mores? S’mores! ⠀
⠀ #julylitwrit : How do you come up with names? For contemporary I use the spreadsheet I made up of favorites when we named our two kiddos. For other genres I usually do a bunch of interweb scouring and also find favorite prefixes and suffixes and make a massive list of my own slightly made-up or tweaked names. I probably spend too much time on it, tbh and change each name at least once 😅..⠀
⠀ #rainbowsjuly18 & #bookqueensjuly18 : #cheerupthelonelyday / #feelgoodreads — Here is a sunshiney picture and a great book to cheer you right up would be I Believe in a Thing Called Love, by Maurene Goo! 💖💖💖..⠀
⠀ #bookstagramreadsjuly : Book Spine Appreciation⠀
⠀ #readgushjuly18 : Blue Books ⠀
⠀ #evilqueenreadshamilton : OTP. Maurene Goo writes a mean OTP ⠀
⠀ #bamjuly18 : Morally gray Character — Okay well this is a Very lightly morally gray character, but Desi in IBIATCL does a fair amount of (kinda hilarious) twisting the truth and outright lying to wrangle the guy. Oops. ⠀
⠀ #AllTheBooksJuly18 : Summer in the title — I have not read this book of romantic summer short stories, but I want to!⠀
⠀ #HamiltonJuly - Re-reads: Maurene Goo is definitely on my go-to, feel good, summer re-read list!⠀

Did you know that July 11th was National Cheer Up The Lonely Day? #AD When I was younger, I wrote letters to my great grandma and still remember people telling me stories about how that gave her so much joy. Before we headed for home, Hattie wanted to send a post card to her Great Grammy to put a smile on her face too! Join in the @imreadytocare movement and cheer someone up in your life. Simple acts can make a big difference in someone’s life. How can you cheer someone up? #imreadytocare#actsofkindness#cheerupthelonelyday

Happiness is...making others laugh. ❤️ Did you know that many seniors experience loneliness and isolation? .
So in celebration of National Cheer Up the Lonely Day, my boys performed their MIME act at a local senior center (swipe to see a snippet of it) to help bring laughter. As a mom it’s important to raise good humans and thanks to @imreadytocare — an initiative to enhance the lives of aging adults and their families — anyone can get involve to do simple acts of kindness. #imreadytocare#actsofkindness#sponsored#cheerupthelonelyday
We think it’s safe to say that a lot of people (and animals!) are feeling less lonely after this weekend! Just look at yesterday’s adoption board alone: 30 cats 🐱, 23 dogs 🐶 and 4 rabbits 🐰 found their forever homes yesterday! That is AMAZING❣️ But it’s not over yet! MACC is waiving adoption fees through today, July 14, in honor of National #CheerUpTheLonelyDay , and there are LOTS of animals still waiting at the shelter!
Not quite sure who you’re looking for? That’s okay! Our adoption counselors and fantastic volunteers are more than happy to help match you with a new furry family member based on their knowledge of the animals’ different personalities!
Companionship gives us a sense of purpose and belonging. A good hug and conversation can stimulate positive thoughts and prevent isolation. This #CheerUpTheLonelyDay , consider calling an old friend to catch up. 😊

I want to sit and hear you out / I want to understand your pain / I want your pain / Everyone has their own battles to fight / to win, invite each other in / Invite each other in / We'll hear you out" - @augustburnsred / @matthewgreiner
We're all a little broken, we're all a little messed up, but that doesn't mean we are ever alone.
My whole goal as a person is to be the person who I needed when I was younger. I've had my battles with depression and anxiety, and they suck and I don't ever want someone to go through that alone. I want to support them in any way I can.
That's why I treat my classroom as an open door for my kids. Sure come and hang out, if you want tell me about your problems, but know that you're never alone.
I often refer to myself as a motivational cheerleader, and that's just because that was the type of person I needed. Someone who would tell me things will get better, someone to listen, and someone who would help me be a better person.
I hope you all know that you are never alone.
Did you know that loneliness and isolation are among the top complaints from remote workers? If only there was somewhere that digital nomads/ remote workers/ home-based entrepreneurs could go that combine the workplace community of a traditional office with the flexibility to work the way you want. Hmm, we may actually be able to help you with that!
Curious about learning more about loneliness and
We published a blog post about it! You can find the link to it, as well as the Harvard Business Review article in our bio. It is definitely worth the read! #cheerupthelonelyday
Pets not only help cheer up humans who might be experiencing loneliness – they can also bring added companionship to your resident animals! Thank you to Greg for sharing how recently adopted Sugar bonded with MACC alum Maisey! "We adopted Maisey in November. She’s been awesome. A little quirky and fun but still awesome. LOVES to play with other dogs so I guess her social/pack skills are great. We celebrated her birthday in May based on her records. We knew she needed a companion but wanted to adopt at MACC again but wanted a specific kind of puppy. Then Sugar popped up with her siblings last Tuesday and we thought here it is!!!
Hoping everything would go smoothly, we took Sugar home and hoped for the best. Well, we found Maisey’s calling. A big puppy sister. These 2 are almost inseparable. Sleep together play together. Maisey is even showing her how to go potty outside. Thanks again to the staff for doing everything they do!" In honor of National #CheerUpTheLonelyDay , MACC is waiving all adoption fees through Sunday, July 14! If you've been thinking about adding to your pack, now is a perfect time to do it!
MACC is located at 5125 Harding Place and open 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. every day, with extended evening hours until 6 p.m. on Thursdays.
Yesterday we spent the day building dens, hanging twinkly lights, baking, practising yoga and enjoying foot spas. Not to mention handing out paintings, cards, letters to our community and visiting our favourite friends at the care home. At Nursery we realise the importance of supporting children in exploring feelings: supporting children in developing a strong sense of identity alongside a sense of awareness with emotional regulation. Talking about what makes us happy was a joy at nursery- and the children loved to share this with everyone. We thought their writings and drawings were incredible. All the children would like to ask you “what makes you happy?” #earlyyears#happiness#cheerupthelonelyday#hyggeinspired#languageandliteracy#chapeltown#roundhay#moortown#chapelallerton
@nashanimalcare is waiving adoption fees for all animals through Sunday, July 14! Almost every one of our dogs come @nashanimalcare. You’ll find your best forever furry friend there, we promise. Just do it! 🙏🐕🐾🐶💖 Posted @withrepost • @nashanimalcare Pets help prevent loneliness because they offer companionship, unconditional love, and acceptance. Your story could help inspire more people to give one of these deserving animals a furever home! 🥰🏠 MACC is located at 5125 Harding Place in Nashville and is open seven days-a-week for adoption from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., with special evening hours on Thursday until 6 p.m.
You might not know someone is lonely just by looking at them. .
Today is national Cheer Up the Lonely Day, and honestly? We think that should be every day.
So if there's a friend or family member you haven't talked to in a long time, give them a call. Schedule a meal together. Get your family together to make cards to send to people you love, just because.
You never know who might really need that act of loving kindness, so be generous with it. How will you help your kids reach out to others and spread some love and joy this weekend?
We also have some great activities to help you give back to your community and help those who might be lonely. Check out our activities finder and select causes like Aid the Elderly, Help Other Kids, Support Our Troops, and Begin With Basics for some ideas, many of which you can do from anywhere. .

It's #CheerUpTheLonelyDay Today! Tag a friend who would appreciate this little pick-me-up via erinsummer_ (📸cred) 🐶😍 When we meet with #freelancers at our workshops, one of the things that often comes up is the loneliness that comes with being a business of one. As #solopreuners (keyword: solo) it's easy to get trapped in the cycle of working from home and harnessing our inner introvert. But flying solo can inevitably get quite lonely, even if you are one that likes your independence.
This #CheerUpTheLonelyDay , check up on your fellow freelancers to see how they're doing, and go out and do something with your community! Perhaps it's a floral arrangement workshop or outdoor yoga class to get you out of your comfort zone. Or maybe it's joining an online community like our FB group like our "Business Advice for Freelancers Group" on Facebook. If you're loving these interactions, maybe it's time to consider working from a co-working space or joining a freelance collective! If you're wondering about the latter, head over to the justlance.co Magazine and read our latest article: "Joining a Freelance Collective: Is it for You?" Make sure to let us know what you think!
