Can’t wait for my band @strawberrygirlsmusic to play with @thefalloftroy next month! It’s honestly a dream come true for me. The Fall of Troy became my main musical influence while I was in high school. I even got kicked out of the hardcore band I started because I was over playing heavy breakdowns and I wanted to play crazier melodic progressive rock music like TFOT. On our last tour, I had the honor of meeting and talking to Thomas Erak (guitar) and Andrew Forsman (drums) from TFOT and it was a full circle moment. I’m so grateful for the journey that music has taken me on. It’s so surreal growing up listening to bands, and then eventually playing shows with those same bands later on in life. It blows my mind. 🌸🔮🌸

Robert Glasper trio(Plus way too many guests) @ The Virgil Los Angeles 2017 with Dave Chappelle introduction. I wish Wayne Brady had stuck around til Dave got there.
Yesterday marked a landmark in life for my best friend and musical soulmate @cafollamusic who released his debut solo album ‘Cowboys & Africans’ after an insanely long and hard working journey of sonic craftsmanship and patience. This record has had zero industry or art funding support and was only born thanks to the generous donations from a beautiful example of the Kickstarter community and it’s power. To know it’s finally released and still holding strong positions in the iTunes main and R&B charts is amazing as this record is one of the most honest, uncontrived and ambitious albums I’ve ever heard. Maybe it’s just the small community of true music lovers/collectors making their mark, maybe it’s the classic ‘15 mins’, but either way it’s inspiring to know there are still people out there who want to listen to and support music for music lovers. Thank you to everyone who has bought, commented and sent private messages of praise to Marco and myself so far, it truly means a lot. We put every last drop of our heart and soul into this album and I really hope it’s been worth the wait 🖤

Great week in Boston and New York.
Started by getting to see one of my hero’s @rycooderofficial.
Then on to New York visiting the blue note for 3 nights in a row to watch Robert Glasper and his nuts band.
Got to hang out with some cool dudes and see them perform each night with Robert and also themselves.
Hip hop isn’t really my genre by trade but seeing these guys do it was a whole different ball game and an incredible experience.
Thanks to all of them for making it so nice especially @hughgetagrip
We got to spend Halloween at @bluenotenyc with legends and we’re still on cloud 9! Thank you @robertglasper for this unforgettable experience. On one stage we saw Robert Glasper, Chris Dave, Derrick Hodge, Isaiah Sharkey, Casey Benjamin, DJ Jahi Sundance, Yasiin Bey, Dave Chapelle, and Q-Tip! I still can’t believe we got to witness it!! Swipe for some footage! All thanks to my dude @cole_forever for the hang!!! Love you man!! #bluenote#nyc#robertglasper

So... Isaiah Sharkey @sharkey335 calls my bass teacher at Berklee during our lesson and out of the blue I end up playing a D’Angelo tune for him through the phone on speaker and talking to him afterwards. I absolutely love his music, so for him to listen to my playing(and like it😃🏄♂️) was a surreal moment. So now I’ve been learning a bunch of his tunes to hopefully share with him soon. #CallAgainPlease
For anyone who doesn’t know him, you probably do. He’s on D’Angelo’s Black Mesiah album, played with Lalah Hathaway, Paul Simon, Brian McKnight and is currently on tour with John Mayer. - Btw with bassmaster #1 , @pino_palladino_official_ , who played bass on this album along with @chrisdaddydave on drums.
Everyone, go listen to his music, it’s so killing!! Full video on Jonathanwoehlk.com
