  • Did you know that man can make up “a Jesus other than the Jesus” (2 Cor 11:4)? Did you know a well-meaning (and not so well-meaning) preacher can lead you astray? Did you know the commentary of early theologians can be in error? How then can we ensure we know the right and true Jesus Christ / Yeshua HaMashiach? How can we ensure we are living in a way that pleases the Living God, YHWH, and are not grieving the Holy Spirit?
.
READ THE WORD OF GOD FOR YOURSELF. Study it like your ETERNAL LIFE DEPENDS ON IT because IT DOES (2 Tim 2:15, 1 Tim 4:15-16, 2 Cor 13:5).
.
Once you know the Word of God, actually DO IT or YOU WILL PERISH. (James 1:22, Matt 7:21, Luke 6:46, James 2:24)
.
If you died today... are you ready to stand before Jesus to be judged for “the things done while in the body, whether good or bad”? (2 Cor 5:10, Matt 25:31-46)
.
Repent. Change your mind, trust God, obey Christ, change your deeds, and be saved. (Acts 26:20, Acts 3:19, Acts 17:30)
.
John 3:36 ESV
Whoever BELIEVES in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not OBEY the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.
.
Belief (faith, trust) and Obedience are INDIVISIBLE. As a man must have a body and spirit to be alive, a man must have faith and obedience to be saved! (James 2:14-24)
.
2 Corinthians 11:3-4 NIV
[3] But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent's cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. [4] For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the Spirit you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough.

  • Why do we fear God? To answer this question imagine this: A long time ago, in a place not that different than our own, there were two women. These two women held opposite beliefs. Their convictions ran deep. Each woman did what she could to call the inhabitants of that place to follow her. One woman was named Wisdom; the other, Folly. Wisdom and Folly dueled for followers, day in and day out. They each claimed they could bring joy. They each spoke of the fears in life. Proverbs 9–10 is how they speak. This is their story, as told by God. >> Listen in to "Fearing God Brings Joy" on the Jesus' Economy Podcast on iTunes or Spotify. • Let’s talk medication. I’m on a few, and I can’t express how much the medication I’ve been on has help my mental health by balancing out the chemicals that were out of whack for literal years, and my relationship with God. I feel like in Christian communities, talking about medication for mental health is taboo, let alone taking it, and it shouldn’t be. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think that medication is the only solution, often times the journey to healing is a combination of therapy, prayer, meditation and sometimes medication. Telling someone who’s suffering from depression, anxiety, or any other sort of serious mental illness that they just need to pray more, read their Bible more, etc isn’t just ignorant- it can be dangerous to encourage people not to medicate or to seek therapy leads people more in to the darkness, away from the Church, and away from God if they feel like bad Christians when their brain chemistry isn’t balanced after a week of prayer. It’s our responsibility as brothers and sisters in Christ to ensure that we are watching out for our family, and sometimes that includes making sure people are seeking out the treatment they need for their mental health. •

  • Oh the power of presence! Right now make a commitment to spend simply 5 minutes with the God you love, where the only agenda is that this is no agenda! Just be with him to be with him. ⠀
He said, breathe.
Had I not breathed until now?⠀
Breathe, breathe baby.⠀
To notice the rise and fall of my chest.⠀
How soothing the act of mindful breathing. ⠀
I have finally stopped long enough to say a welcome to you Lord.⠀
Everyday to be with you.⠀
Worries fall away in your presence.⠀
You are here.⠀
Thank you for meeting me Daddy.⠀
Your very presence brings sweet tears to mine eyes. You are unburdening me.⠀
What matters now is that you’re here.⠀
What matters now is you.⠀
I don’t want any other.⠀
You see me.⠀
Anxiety, depression, feelings of overwhelm make up my life.⠀
But the autonomy and atmosphere changes when you’re here.⠀
You understand me.⠀
Here with you, I am not crushed.⠀
I am kept ⠀
I am released ⠀
I am unencumbered ⠀
I am met⠀
I am provided for⠀
I will be okay⠀
I am encouraged ⠀
I am strengthened⠀
I am free⠀
What I consume now is peace.⠀
I am digesting rest.⠀
My mind slows ⠀
My body relaxes ⠀
My spirit breathes ⠀
My worries are ruined.⠀
The cares I carried have been put to death.⠀
They no longer live.⠀
They’ve been eliminated.⠀
They’re wrecked, gone.⠀
This love is my safe haven.⠀
A refuge of power.⠀
The mountains in my mind become molehills in your presence.⠀
Because your love is bigger.⠀
Your love is more important than these.⠀
Light displaces the darkness.⠀
Darkness has been displaced, hallelujah.⠀
It does not remain here!⠀
Love is victorious.⠀
Love has won.⠀
Love is perfect.⠀
Love is the way.⠀
Draw me into the light of your powerful love, this position in the sun is where I live from.⠀
How warm are your rays.⠀
Love has come.⠀
Love has come! .

  • We often spend time thinking about what we should be doing or what we didn't do in the past. This thought process will make us crazy and unable to move forward.⁣
⁣
"I don’t depend on my own strength to accomplish this; however, I do have one compelling focus: I forget all of the past as I fasten my heart to the future instead." Philippians 3:13 (TLV)⁣

The past is the past... take the energy that you are using to think about it and focus that.⁣

How I've managed my depression this season 🙏🏼 I've coupled these vitamins together + not only have I not gotten sick this year, but my depression has gotten SO MUCH better.
If you didn't know.. I was diagnosed with depression when I was 14 + was immediately put on medication + put into therapy for suicidal thoughts (+ attempts 😔). I don't talk about it (really at all I don't think?) because I still have a lot of shame attached to it + it is still something I am healing from ✨
In no way am I saying this is the answer, but I will say that this XS Energy + Focus has been a huge help for me (+ many others). One of the main ingredients is called Rhodiola Rosea + is known as, "Nature's Antidepressant" in many different articles, + I LOVE the sound of that!! 👏🏼🌿
I will say that Jesus is the #1 answer to any + every problem we will ever have, + He is our healer. I certainly give all the credit to HIM 👆🏼
With that being said.. I also believe God gave us nature as medicine + therapy as a safe place 🙏🏼 He has given people the gift of wisdom + just listening for the sake of others. If you need help, GET IT!

You are loved. + You are NO LESS if you have struggles. It's part of life, but it does not DEFINE your life. Love you all so much! ♡♡

Do you discriminate others?
Bare with me here.
Do you treat people differently according to their outer appearance? Do you treat people who appear to be rich w/ more respect and kindness? Ask yourself this, be honest w/ yourself. Because the Bible clearly tells us that it not how it should be. 𝑳𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒏𝒆𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒃𝒐𝒓 𝒂𝒔 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓𝒔𝒆𝒍𝒇. We should treat everyone equally. It shouldn't really matter if their poor or rich. Keep loving people regardless of their outer appearance!

For example, suppose someone comes into your meeting dressed in fancy clothes and expensive jewelry, and another comes in who is poor and dressed in dirty clothes. If you give special attention and a good seat to the rich person, but you say to the poor one, “You can stand over there, or else sit on the floor”—well, doesn’t this discrimination show that your judgments are guided by evil motives?”

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Written by @CrystalDeMarr ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In your journey of walking with the Lord, in reaching spiritual altitude and elevation, you're going to find people who look down upon you. You're going to find people who look at you with disapproval, and they will say all types of mean and hateful things about you. But are you going to let that dismantle you and shrink you back from what God has called you to do?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Today, walk powerfully in the Lord and know who you are as a child of God. Know that although you are young, you are powerful. You are a force to be reckoned with within the Kingdom.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Today, delare and decree that no matter who's voice rises against you, you will press forward, strong and confident in who you are in the Lord, and you will preach that Word, and with no holds barred. Claim it! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"Let no man despise your youth; but be an example to those who believe, in word, in your way of life, in love, in spirit, in faith, and in purity. Until I come, pay attention to reading, to exhortation, and to teaching."⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

  • Agape Love: A Tradition Found in Eight World Religions by Sir John Templeton

Genre: Religious ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Published: 1999

Agape (Ancient Greek ἀγάπη, agapē) is a Greco-Christian term referring to love, "the highest form of love, charity" and "the love of God for man and of man for God". The Bible also mentions phileo, or brotherly love, and refers to eros, erotic love. The Greeks also spoke of storge, which is a love between family members.

Agape love is a little different. It is not a feeling; it's a motivation for action that we are free to choose or reject. Agape is a sacrificial love that voluntarily suffers inconvenience, discomfort, and even death for the benefit of another without expecting anything in return. We are called to agape love through Christ's example: "Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.

And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God" (Ephesians 5:1-2 NIV). However, the tradition of agape, or unconditional love, is not exclusive to any one religion... For my full review, please check out my Facebook page! The link is in my bio ☺️

  • The Great Emergence: How Christianity is Changing and Why by Phyllis Tickle
Genre: Christian Literature ⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

The entire book centers on Tickle's argument that every 500 years, the corporate Christian Church has what she refers to as a "rummage sale", and begins to reevaluate what it teaches and values. Tickle seeks to understand the many great changes going on throughout Christianity over the past few generations. The Great Emergence is our current state, another time of transition which is resulting in wide-spread changes in the Christian church.
I liked revisiting history, from an integrated view of politics, culture, sociology, and religion because it seems to me impossible to separate the influence that one had on another.

This book presents an interesting prism through which to see the history of Christianity and where it might lead, and is worth exploring.
Whether or not I agree with all of her conclusions, Phyllis Tickle has given a nice historical piece that makes a number of connections that I had never considered. So it is definitely a thought provoking book.

It’s worth mentioning that there is an index, but no bibliography. However, additional resources can be obtained from the notes.

All in all, it’s worth reading. If for nothing else than the sweeping sense of history, and just how messy everything - including Christianity - is.

  • The Book of Joy: Lasting Happiness in a Changing World by Dalai Lama XIV and Desmond Tutu with Doug Abrams

Genre: Self-help
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This book is the result of a week long conversation between dear friends, His Holiness the Dalai Lama XIV and Archbishop Desmond Tutu, who just happen to be spiritual leaders in Buddhism and Christianity. Their co-author Doug Abrams weaves both religions together with scientific studies to provide proof one needn’t be religious to find joy. Which I really loved! Both Desmond Tutu and the Dalai Lama have risen beyond their respective religions to reach out to all humans regardless of their location.
Abrams does an excellent job of drawing together the different elements of this weeklong meeting. He paints the setting so that we can imagine being there, and includes enough about these two amazing men to enable us to feel that we know them, and understand their relationship. The love, humor and joy between them was evident, even in their most serious moments. It was so beautiful to see that these two men, from very different cultures and spiritual traditions, could model for us how love transcends the particulars of what we believe.
According to these two, joy is more than just plain happiness, it’s a state of being. They have both suffered tremendously, the Dalai Lama being forced into exile and the Archbishop lived through Apartheid. They think that because of, not in spite of, these horrid happenings they are the joyful peacemakers they are today. It’s truly incredible, as well as inspiring.

We really need more people like the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Tutu. Self-change leads to changing the world. The book is a rich resource of those looking for simple, down-to-earth ways to live their spiritual values. The appendix provides a summary of specific and practical tools for meditation, cultivating gratitude, forgiveness, and other spiritual values. I highly recommend it. 💛
