FULL STORY BELOW:
We decided to try an area where we found a small herd of elephants the day before that was near a watering hole called Rabelias Dam near Orpen Camp. Upon arriving we notice a large male lion crouching on the shore.
As our cameras clicked away you could see something was off, his posture just did not look right. On closer examination looking through the lens his left hind leg was protruding and at a strange angle. After he had his fill of water he struggled to his feet hardly able to stand. What you did not notice while he was drinking, he literally was nothing but skin and bones.
He slowly moved away from the water and staggered as if he was drunk towards a small rise. Every few steps he would stop to catch his breath, his head hanging low until he had enough energy to take a few more steps. Upon reaching the rise he turned to face the water hole and began his slow descent to the ground. About half way down he collapsed the rest of the way. It was evident he was in his last days if not his last hours on this earth.
Later we learned that the name of this noble lion was ‘Skybed Scar’. The lion was well known in the Kruger National Park where he roamed and ruled for many years. He lived free and he died free.

  • Two hydrogens teamed up with an oxygen and, BAM, water. It’s my favorite thing!
It can be liquid, solid, or gas. It's not basic, or acidic. And dense enough to carry sound waves while dissolving more substances than any other liquid on the planet. It makes up 60% of the human body and 70% of the earth's surface. Often imitated, never duplicated.
So, happy #WorldWaterDay! It's a precious resource and a worthwhile fight. Drops become streams with ripples that turn into waves. Do whatchu can, where you can, how you can to keep water clean and flowing. 😊

  • Throwback to one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. As beautiful as it was, we paddled out to a little sand bar that was literally an island of dead coral. The sad truth behind our warming and dying oceans. It broke my heart, I couldn’t believe how much had gathered in this spot. You couldn’t even walk because you were walking on piles of it. It was unbelievable, at least a 100 foot long ( prob longer) sand bar of NOTHING but dead coral. Climate change is happening all around us, and our oceans are changing for the worst. Just remember where half of your oxygen comes from, where 71% of your earths surface is, where 95% of all the space available to life resides, and what regulates global climate determining rainfall, droughts, and floods. Make better everyday choices from the food you buy, the materials you use, the trash you create, the simple everyday life you live makes an IMPACT, whether you think it does or not. No one is perfect, I’m not, but I am trying to educate myself everyday to be better and learn new ways to make a change, spread that change, and create the movement our oceans need right NOW. ⚡️🌊

  • I’ve been feeling a sore throat coming on, and turn to my favorite natural remedy - honey! Shout out to the bees workin hard to keep me healthy.

One thing I wasn’t super aware of until recently is the decline in population of bees and other pollinators. Scientists attribute this to loss of habitat bc of climate change, as well as use of pesticides.

Last year, the EU banned key bee-threatening pesticides including neonicotinoids, but the US has yet to follow suit 🧐

Just another reason to buy organic produce - save the bees!

  • Water is life.
It is everywhere around us, so it is easy to forget how important it is… until we do not have it.
Water is a precious resource. Let’s protect it. Let’s use it wisely. For the planet. For the animals. For ourselves.
Happy World Water Day!

  • If you live in the Bay, you should know who SPUR is. Everyday they are working to make this a world class region by connecting our cities and making them better for the future. Today, SPUR hosted their San Jose Impact Awards, recognizing the work of the people who are building bikeways and affordable housing, redeveloping high density neighborhoods while protecting habitats, and reimagining a dead mall into a community space again. I dig it. Let's do more of this, please!
