Most people in your life
were only meant for dreams,
and summer laughter.
They stay until the wind changes,
the tides turn,
or disappear with first snow.
and then there are some that
were forged to weather blizzards
and understand pain with you while lifting each other higher and celebrating life together.
They were cast in iron, set in gold and never ever leave you to face anything alone.
Know who those people are.
and love them the way they deserve.
Not everyone in your life is temporary.
A few are as permanent as love is old.
Words cannot express the love and admiration that I have for @andreaorr_ 💕 but @afewminertweaks and @thegohjo did a great job summing up the magic we share in today's “Creative Besties" edition of the Biscuit ✨

I love teaching watercolor florals. When you break it down into simple shapes and strokes it makes it really easy to learn! This is the loose peony I teach to my students. Just thought I would share with you guys! Now, who’s ready for class?? #watercolorworkshop#watercolorflorals#watercolor_daily

This may not have gone quite to plan, but I don’t think I can complain about the results 😊 Question is, I have 2 name ideas for this piece, which fits better? “We Didn’t Start the Fire?” 🔥 or “Walkin’ on the Sun” ☀️ (names may be influenced by the Pandora station I had on when painting )
There’s something special about LA, or Lower Alabama for all of y’all who aren’t southern. Most of my childhood summers contained at least a week of adventures walking the gulf, playing in the surf and collecting shells. Somewhere in the midst of high school, my collections changed from shells to sand dollars and coral. Over the years, each trip, I’d bring home prized tiny pieces of the broken coral that had washed up along the coast. I’d watch the surf with eagle eyes, and comb the beaches for my little treasures. Hours on hours my patient mom would walk with me, talk life, dreams, hopes and hunt for these little treasures, each of us being more elated at the find of a piece.
Every time I see coral art, I think I could do that. They’ve been in a vase, in a bowl, and lastly stored safely in a ziplock bag since I relocated to North Carolina. Thursday night I had a vision and an idea. So a simple ikea frame turned into the perfect shadow box display for my collection. A simple reminder of His faithfulness. A reminder of hopes and dreams, of leaps of faith and of promises yet to be fulfilled.
There’s one tiny piece of coral in there that my then-boyfriend-now-husband, and I found. A long walk down the beach, conversations about our hopes and dreams, and a tiny piece of coral reflecting in the surf. #loweralabama#cltartist#cltinteriordesign#diyhomedecor#coral#orangebeachalabama
*(For purchase)Frida symbolizes different things to a lot of people. For me she represents HOPE for those going through pain whether physical (like what Frida endured)) OR emotional.. Art always heals the soul & brings hope & joy to the human spirit.
She continued to create and express her pain through Art no matter what.
I am selling this 18x24 Acrylic on Canvas piece for $125.00 +ship. If anyone is interested ~ inbox me. #myheartfullife#cltartist#frida

Change Your Words. Change Your World.
By Nido R. Qubein
That which is alive hath known death, and that which is dead can never die, for in the Circle of the Spirit life is naught and death is naught. Yea, all things live forever, though at times they sleep and are forgotten.
― H. Rider Haggard
After a week of hustling my brain, body and soul ached for a deeeeep cleansing breath. My husband calls it “brain breathing”. Not filling the moment... simply “being”. Like when you were a kid and would sit in the car just staring out the window...
So that’s what I did today. No agenda, to-do-list, mom stuff or studio hustle... Instead I mountain biked sun-speckled trails (at my granny pace), ate a leisurely lunch in the cool breeze with my husband, laid on a blanket gazing into the tree tops and READ A BOOK! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 So good for my soul!
How do you plan to let your “brain breathe” this weekend!? ♥️ I’d love to hear!
〰️ My “Breathe Deep” Collection of artwork RELEASING JUNE 27 🎉 is all about reaching out of the chaos and finding peace, letting your soul B r e a t h e !

While I am confident that all of your stories are safe in the gallery at UNC Charlotte, this is also the longest amount of time that I have been physically away from them. While I am confident that your stories are being shared with folks in our community, I walk around my house feeling uneasy not seeing them neatly stacked in laundry baskets and on quilts in my living room. There is not a doubt in my mind that each of you and your stories and experiences have changed my life for the better. I feel grateful for each of you and your willingness to share part of your story. I will always protect, share, and keep your stories close to my heart.
