When I first realized in my lifting journey that I needed to start eating more in order to gain muscle, I only focused on eating carbs (no variety) and protein... a good portion of my early college years consisted of ONLY eating broiled chicken and white rice for dinner (I don’t miss those days) 🤢

Though I needed more carbs and protein in my diet to gain muscle, I overlooked a very essential component in a diet — veggies. Many veggies provide FIBER, which help keep you “regular”💩, assists greatly with digestion, all while providing you with loads of nutrients you couldn’t obtain from chicken and rice alone.

As an early college kid, I didn’t think they were that important... I thought that since I was building muscle, my body altogether must’ve been healthy, and that’s not necessarily true. Being lean or muscular doesn’t necessarily mean your body is getting everything it needs to function optimally.

So try to make sure whenever you are manipulating your diet, you leave some room for some veggies. There’s a million and one ways to prepare them as well, and I personally feel better overall with them implemented. I believe others would too 💪🏼

It’s difficult to see you’re procrastinating by doing things that make you feel accomplished. You’re putting off very important tasks and long-term goals that you should be focused on instead. For example, going to the gym for 4-5 hours a day instead of taking some of that time to study or work on a project. I’m personally guilty of planning/organizing way more than I actually need to. ———————————————————————————
But you can tackle this problem by time-blocking on your google calendar, planning out your days, and breaking down those goals/projects into smaller pieces.

It’s 2020, let’s procrastinate less & work more towards our real goals! ✨

  • While going plastic free becomes more popular, I keep seeing my favorite coffee shops moving to “compostable cups”. While this is a step in the right direction, compostable/biodegradable cups ONLY work if they are actually composted, not thrown in the trash. To biodegrade, these cups need oxygen, and landfills are pretty much airtight. This makes composting highly unlikely. Please be aware that although it doesn’t use plastic, these choices may be more detrimental to our environment, as they also often can’t be recycled! Have a good day 💖

If you aren't having a good day or if you don't feel your best today, that's okay. We shouldn't expect ourselves to be happy 24/7 that's not realistic
But, if you're really trying to get ya self outta ya bag, maybe try a smile...its more powerful than you realize 😁

Because no matter how bad things might get or how bad you might feel sometimes, you're still alive & breathing, which, I think, is a very beautiful thing. There is always something to hope for, something to be grateful for, or something to smile about 💕

And smiling doesn't just make YOU feel better, but it also makes other people happy too! 😁There are these cool lil things called mirror neurons in our brain, which basically allow us to sense the emotions of others and imitate those emotions. So seeing someone smile or exuding happiness, fires off those mirror neurons so we end up feeling happy too!
