  • By @takeofftogether // “The colours in India are everything. India has already taught us so much. It’s taught us to appreciate, to be patient and more than anything, to be grateful. A country so rich in culture and bursting with colour, it’s hard not to forgive and forget ❤️”
⠀
✘ The original palace burnt down in 1897 during the wedding of Jayalakshammanni, the eldest daughter of Chamaraja Wodeyar and was rebuilt in 1912. The present palace built in Indo-Saracenic style and blends together Hindu, Muslim, Rajput, and Gothic styles of architecture. It is a three-storied stone structure, with marble domes and a 145-ft five-storied tower. Above the central arch is an impressive sculpture of Gajalakshmi, the goddess of wealth, prosperity, good luck, and abundance with her elephants. Chamaraja Wodeyar

  • 👁❤️ I feel my gaze constantly scanning around in this country, always active, keeping an eye out for the next interesting shape or design.. lines leading in spirals.. up and down.. tracing along the jagged silhouette of city buildings as we travel 🌆 .. temples painted rainbow, with richly detailed architecture 🌈.. carts of fruit in all shades dotted along the highways.. 🍉 .. glitzy fairy lights covering restaurants and jewellery stores by night ✨ .. warm colours, bold designs, bright and vibrant materials adorning shopfronts by day 👗 .. embroidered sarees shimmering in the sunlight 👘 .. with shiny jewels, colourful beads and intricate handicrafts populating the local markets. 👑 It’s constant, it can be a little overwhelming, however I really appreciate the way the Indian culture use colour and creative stimulation as a mainstay in everyday life + ritual. Vibrant hearts and souls, there’s something, somehow that feels quite homely about this way of life. Still discovering more specifics on the daily ❤️🇮🇳⠀
