  • It can be hard to balance gym work and your pitch sessions but it is manageable. The main thing to remember is that you are a footballer, not a bodybuilder. So football training should always come first, and should not be negatively impacted by your gym work.
•
You want to focus on quality over quantity. Keep your rep ranges row, and lift heavy on your compound lifts like your squat and deadlift. 1-2 times a week is enough for gym work, but you need to be focused for the duration of the session. Keep your leg session as far away from your game as possible, so if you are a part time player who plays on a Saturday, maybe work your legs on Monday. Then keep your upper body/supplemental exercises for Wednesday.

Make sure your recovery is on point too. This allows you to maintain a higher training load, and in return make more improvements. Keep hydrated,  eat for performance, and get enough sleep.

  • ⚡️⚡️FAST HAPPENS when the foot hits the ground with a great amount of force in minimal time. I try to put my athletes through numerous exercises that train the foot/ankle/calf complex to become springy/explosive/stiff as opposed to “absorbing” the force when the foot hits the ground. ⁣

⚡️⚡️The drill in the video combines Drach’s Jumps with an immediate box jump to SL landing, using the G-FLIGHT ( @exsurgo.us ) to measure ground contact time. ⁣

⚡️⚡️If you take a close look at elite sprinting mechanics, there is a powerful concentric movement of the leg before the foot makes contact with the ground. This can only take place if there is space between the foot and the ground.  If your mechanics aren’t where they should be, (not enough knee drive) there won’t be enough space between the foot and the ground to achieve that powerful concentric strike. Drills like this are great for developing a powerful foot strike, but add proper mechanics and that’s when you start getting major results. ⁣

Recovery is just as important as exercising, without recovery you sacrifice progress.⠀
⠀
A common question I get asked is “should I train when I am sore” or “what about rest days.” EACH PERSON knows your own body better than any other person, so when deciding what is best, you need to evaluate the level of soreness, fatigue AND how your body is functioning through movements.⠀
⠀
If my bodies quite sore, or I am just fatigue to say the least, no doubt I will take an active rest day and do a “recovery session” or a big LISS. I don’t talk about it often because I manage it, but I do have autoimmune thyroiditis which led to hypothyroidism, so I no doubt 100% listen to my body so I can keep on, keeping on 👊🏽 If I wake up one day with the intent of a big workout but I’m just not up to it, that is OKAY. So please, take rest when you need to... make it a stretching day, go for a long walk, etc.⠀

Another MK tip: plan your week of workouts ahead and INCORPORATE active rest days into the week! Set yourself up for success! I for sure plan my lifting days, my running days and my rest days!! Especially right now while I’m currently training for a race 👉🏽 do you take spontaneous rest days or incorporate them??!!⠀

Shame is something I talk about often on this page. Victims carry tremendous amounts of guilt and shame that is not theirs to carry.⁣
⁣
Everyday I get some sort of variation of how to deal with shame. A big tip is to try to understand where the shame is coming from. Is it manufactured shame? Is it coming from conditioning? Is it because you really did something you truly need to apologize for?⁣
⁣
Victims overly apologize for things that are not their fault at all. They mostly over apologize to keep the peace in the system they are in to appease. This is directly tied to codependency habits. If I apologize then I can calm the aggressor.⁣

One of my tips is:⁣
⁣
Identify the shame- know if the shame belongs to you. If it doesn’t return the shame back to its source. If it does, then you have options such as apologizing. I recommend for everyone who struggles with shame to have a conversation with someone to talk to about shame.⁣

Time to move, in all honesty, is really doesn’t take that long. 15 minutes a day can do wonders when you add in a dash of consistency ✅ -

You don’t have to follow my videos, find others, find as many as you can & start by performing stretches that are applicable with your current range of motion, after that, simple, progress from there. Advance your stretches 🤝 -

  • Day 7 - ACL phase 1 - post op - The first week of recovery is now coming to a close  and it’s flown by. Here is the newest recruit to the recovery and rehab program. I looked for one of these 4.5 years ago when I was unlucky enough to be in this position but couldn’t find one at a good price. I had a play yesterday on my good leg and for those that haven’t used them, it’s a strange feeling having muscles contracting without much movement, but I’m hoping this will assist some muscle wastage.
.
Yet another clexane injection has been administered, but @2littlegirls_andus seems to be either losing her touch or getting her own back for 7 years of annoyance as they are leaving some lasting pain and even blood today.
.
Overall, the knee is easing slightly, I can walk slightly better and get a small bend in doing so, although there are some soreness and twinges occasionally which I’m going to be positive and point down to recovering.
.
I also managed to leave the house yesterday and see my team for a retirement drink which was great, although masses of pisstaking ensued which I fully expected and welcomed as this is the part of being off I do miss!

  • Move, move more and keep moving. It’s amazing how much you can realize simply through frequent repetition. Repetition combined with your undivided conscious focus is the pathway to mastering anything.

It’s been a while since I posted anything really “fitness” related. After starting this page and having so much to do with fitness after years of what felt like failing physically, I lost all motivation. I would start and stop and start and stop and just couldn’t make it stick anymore. .....
But then not too long ago a good friend @annelaguzza who ironically says I always motivate her actually motivated me and encouraged me to try @thelosalgym and I did. I immediately felt like I was home. My passion for working hard, pushing myself and lifting returned and in the short time I’ve been here I’ve been able to see results both physical and mental. ....
Today was a #success on this never ending journey to be the best version of myself and looking forward to the #beast in me to return. .

  • A nice specific task-oriented fitness interval training circuit with @karenjagpal and @villarruel_ ( who by the way is seven months prego!). Goes to show that there are no excuses for not maintaining a state of health and well-being. Great job ladies! Panda Land forever in it. We keep it more than real.
