  • Pic for attention. Yeahthatcosplay is coming to an end. Fret not, instead I’ve started my own little design studio. I’ve been looking for a way to take cosplay, and my art to a more professional level. This new account will showcase not only my future cosplay, but also my digital and physical art. Go follow me @demiurgusdesigns
Thanks all, much love

  • Only 3 more days until i’m 25. 🥳 Over the last year pole dancing gave me a reason to live.
•
I fell in love with pole when I started taking classes in October 2017. I promised myself that I would compete one day, & signed up to compete in November 2018. It gave me motivation to train.
•
3 months before the competition I fell into a deep depression. Life became difficult but I refused to give up, even on the days it felt impossible to get out of bed. I trained hard and my performance was far from perfect, but I loved every second of it & I was proud. I did what I thought was impossible, and took home the silver medal. 🥈

1 week after my competition I was diagnosed with bipolar ii. This diagnosis changed my identity, and it scared me. Would taking medication change who I am? I needed to find myself again. 1 week after the diagnosis I went on a 16 day solo backpacking trip around Europe. I came back with a different mindset, I was hopeful that this diagnosis would give me the power to find health & stability. I started medication the day I got back.

I signed up for my 2nd pole competition in March 2019 to help cope with my new meds and my overwhelming emotions. I chose to compete in a higher skill level to challenge myself. It was 2 months away, but I wasn’t close to the skill level I needed to be at. I started dancing 8-16 hours a week, on top of my full time job.
•
The competition got me out of bed, and helped me survive the the winter. I danced like my life depended on it, because honestly pole dancing was the only thing keeping me sane. My hard work paid off and I achieved what I thought was impossible again, I won the gold medal. 🥇 •

Bipolar symptoms can be very overwhelming, and sometimes it’s impossible to control my emotions. When I’m overwhelmed I use music and dance to cope. It took a long time to learn how to get out of my head to feel the music, but now I live for the moment when I manage to clear my mind and trust my body completely. Dance allows my body to truly connect to the music, and the rest of the world fades away. This is my therapy.💙
