  • The deep greens of summer. It was a long, tiring hike up here last summer, but the view at the top was worth every step! Do you have any hiking destinations planned for this summer - I’m always looking for new ideas!

  • Le temps file, le temps n’attend personne. Le temps guérit toutes les blessures. Tous autant que nous sommes nous voulons plus de temps. Du temps pour se relever, du temps pour grandir, du temps pour lâcher prise. Du temps.

  • We’re excited to share a collaboration with Socality Camp partner @heartprintthreads. They’re providing blankets to all of the camp attendees but have created a special edition colorway that you can pick up even if you can’t make it to the camp this year. All of their products empower artisans in Ecuador while also giving back locally to organizations tackling homelessness and food scarcity. They’re also some of the nicest people you’ll meet. You can learn more and pick one up for yourself via the link in our bio.

  • Pop Quiz:
You just ran a 50k. As you settle into your sleeping bag in a comfy car camping spot for the night, you have two options before driving back to San Diego the next morning:
1. Sleep in.
2. Wake up at 5am to catch sunrise over Bryce Canyon.
...Yeah, me too.

  • Change your perspective on failure.... it’s just a way to get better. A lesson learned is not a reason to beat yourself up and decide your aren’t good enough! Failure is how we become wiser and understand ourselves better.

  • Even though we're only spending a week in Spain, we went to Decathlon twice. Picked up some more hiking and camping gear. Sorry not sorry.

  • Friday chill levels 1000% ✌🏼 Checking in from @hotelroyallb again, because in addition to the video I posted on Wednesday, I wanted to share 2 ways you can also READ about the hotel we stayed at for our Long Beach #staycation! The articles can be found –
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
___
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. On RachelOffDuty.com (hotel review is linked in my bio right now!)
2. In *PRINT* in the latest edition of Long Beach Home & Living Magazine (if you're in the LA/LB area, be sure to snatch up a copy if you see one!) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Because I know many of you might not live in the area, you can also swipe to see the first page of the magazine ➡️ Something about print, man 😍 It's so cool to see it come to life in a way that blogging does not. Let me know what you think! Would you stay here? #RoDHotels

  • Been so busy with work and other projects this week that I’ve barely had time to edit some of the things I’ve been working on. It’s hard to make time for these things sometimes but if you enjoy it you will 🙌🏻 How do you make sure you make time for the things that matter?

  • I love using color and natural sources of light to shoot models. When I started my photography career all the way back in 2011 I was working in the nightlife industry and doing tons of work with producers/dj’s. Shooting at night in these clubs taught me tons about how light works and how to shoot and use ambient sources to really make photos pop. This summer I am working on putting together a full course of shooting at night and working in clubs. It’s what I believe to be one of the most difficult areas to produce stunning images and after almost a decade I want to pass on what I have learned to the next generation of artists! Send me a PM if you’re interested and I’ll put you on a list of first contacts when I release the program.

  • This week’s lesson: don’t fall into the trap of instant gratification. I had been slacking off and taking a mental break - and I haven’t done this for a long time. I had been hustling, planning and I cut off most of my entertainment.
And one day the urge just came back from nowhere.
How did I stop procrastinating you may ask?
Well after wasting 1.5 days I decided enough was enough and started thinking of the bigger picture. There is no one out there to rescue you from the rat race. Your dream will not come knock at your door. You need to WORK HARD and CREATE THAT OPPORTUNITY.
I always emphasise the important of baby steps. This is exactly what you need to do. Just ask yourself to start DOING it. Even just for 2 minutes. You will thank yourself.
We live in this society where people want immediate results and progress while we forget the sweat, effort and time required. Instant gratification is poisonous because short term relief is not a solution!
