Good morning/day/whatever your time is, people. Everyone who knows me close or long enough is aware of my love/need for #coffee . That is something I have to have for functioning through the day, but, lucky me, I do also enjoy it greatly.
So... A day with #coffee to me is a much better day than any other.
But I like the #weekends the best for an opportunity to actually savour the taste, to sip it leisurely, and not one #cup before hurrying to work, but two or three)

Dragon vs Seven Diamond
To me Easter is a time to reset, to spend time with family and to think ahead to the rest of the year. We're so lucky to have such a beautiful bank holiday weekend this year (who knew it was possible to have a rain free bank holiday in England!). This is one of my mum's favourite @emma_bridgewater mugs and it's just perfect for a spring cup of tea and chatting in the sunshine.
What does Easter mean to you? 🌻🐰🐑🌺☕
I love the process of carving away clay. I throw work so that I can trim & carve it. Nothing makes me happier in pottery. I get to change the feel of this plain cup and just like that making it unique and textured.

Glaze testing shotglasses, each thrown from a tiny 4 or 5 ounce wad of clay Being at a new pottery (@makewaynesboro) means a lot of new procedures and policies, and new glazes. Learning where the tools are or which sink to use is quick business, but picking up on glaze options feels harder and more important because of all the choices, and because the colors and finish of a piece of pottery make the first impression to the viewer. Good pottery can be ruined by bad glazing. Also, potteries dont all carry the same assortment, and those glazes which seem the same (white, black, clear, etc) behave differently. The worst part is when a favorite combination is not available, do you give it up? Or try to recreate it? I'm in the middle of that decision right now and have spent quite a lot of money in the process and considerable time in my car. These four pieces, for example, required over 200 miles to create due to all the back and forth driving (versus maybe 6 at my old studio). Testing and superhuman patience are crucial to making beautiful pieces and it feels like the stakes have been raised. My efficiency will get better as I reach the most productive rhythm (it's only been a month) and I've made about 80 little test pieces like this, so we will see together what happens.

/ I think conversations are beautiful. I had a long call with my friend last night and we talked about everything from Notre Dame to world poverty to governments and some stories from our past. I think it's a very unique feeling to be able to express yourself through words and in return understand another person. I have always valued good conversation but somehow, it's difficult to find people who are ready to engage in a deep conversation and put in some efforts. I hate it when conversations fall out after a 'how are you?' Why do people not talk about more stuff? Why do they not share more? Why are they so afraid of forming a connection? Maybe some people just don't know how.. It makes me sad. We should be talking more. / .
