  • Crushing rooftops is my favorite sport. Especially when you are following a professional like @stormfritzphotography ... one thing I have realized significantly as of late is that I have really been on this journey of learning photography and video and finding my style all on my own. I may have followed a person here or there but I can't say I've ever gotten any hands on guidance for editing or on sight processes to achieve better compositions or sharper images. It is a long LONG road to success when you walk it alone, so, start meeting people. Do not be afraid to ask for someone to walk you through their processes or shadow you on a more formal project. What makes us so special as humans is our innate capabilities of sharing and working together. It seems the competition derived by social media and over saturated markets is a vicious one and completely breaking down our ability to share and grow as a community of creators. I never realized how much that effected me until I realized how long it has taken me to get where I am today while seeing many get to the same place in only a year or so, because they have the mentorship and the guidance I never found or took advantage of. It is easy to be aggravated at that kind of comparison, but I choose to admire the end result of new influences and talents opposed to holding them accountable for not experiencing the trials and errors of my own journey, as if they didnt earn their knowledge, which is dumb. I think it is that aggravation in most "professionals" that prevented me from finding the guidance and mentorships I needed, and still need. Now Im just rambling, but my point is, work together, find those who push you to be better AND are willing to actually show you how to be better so you do not find yourself stuck in the same cycles of trial and error. We all need to be in this together, allowing others to become better will never hurt you in any way to be worse off.
