  • Do your days ever feel overwhelming, overstimulating, and overloaded? Sometimes mine do! There are so many good things before us, so many opportunities, and so many options. We can hunger for all of it and gulp every opportunity down as if it is our last meal. Just like sheep in a lush green pasture, we don’t often know when to quit! But that’s why our Shepherd settles us down so we can rest and be refreshed.
.
So, if you are in the crazy middle of life, listen to your Shepherd’s voice. Read His word. Stop and pray. Do what He says. Keep your heart tuned to hear Him and then follow Him where He leads. The result will be rest.
.
If you want to grow in your confidence of the Shepherd's love for you, @p31obs is doing my #Psalm23Study as their next online Bible study. It starts on September 3, and we want you to join us. Sign up here: bit.ly/Psalm23Study

  • Daily Devotion: Servant’s Heart

The Bible in One Year: Psalms 113–115; 1 Corinthians 6

Today's Bible Reading: Mark 9:33–37

Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all. Mark 9:35

Cook. Event Planner. Nutritionist. Nurse. These are just some of the responsibilities regularly performed by modern moms. In 2016, research estimated that moms likely worked between fifty-nine and ninety-six hours per week doing child-related tasks.

No wonder moms are always exhausted! Being a mom means giving a lot of time and energy to care for children, who need so much help as they learn to navigate the world.

When my days feel long and I need a reminder that caring for others is a worthy pursuit, I find great hope when I see Jesus affirming those who serve.

In the gospel of Mark, the disciples were having an argument about which one of them was the greatest. Jesus quietly sat down and reminded them that “anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all” (9:35). Then He took a child in His arms to illustrate the importance of serving others, especially the most helpless among us (vv. 36–37). Christ’s response resets the bar for what greatness looks like in His kingdom. His standard is a heart willing to care for others. And Jesus has promised that God’s empowering presence will be with those who choose to serve (v. 37). As you have opportunities to serve in your family or community, be encouraged that Jesus greatly values the time and effort you give in service to others. —LISA M. SAMRA

How might you serve someone today? How could you take time to say “thank you” to someone who has graciously loved and served you?

Jesus, thank You for reminding us of Your loving care for children and any who are vulnerable. Help us to follow Your example of service.

  • Daily Devotion: More Than Hacks⁣
⁣
The Bible in One Year: Psalms 110–112; 1 Corinthians 5⁣
⁣
Today's Bible Reading: Psalm 111⁣
⁣
He provided redemption for his people; he ordained his covenant forever—holy and awesome is his name. Psalm 111:9⁣
⁣
I recently found a “hack” (a clever solution to a tricky problem) when one of my grandchildren warmed her toy rabbit on our fireplace glass. The resulting globs of fake bunny fur weren’t pretty, but a fireplace expert provided a great hack—a tip for how to make the glass look like new. It worked, and now we no longer allow stuffed animals near the fireplace!⁣
⁣
I bring up hacks because sometimes we can view Scripture as a collection of hacks—tips to make life easier. While it’s true that the Bible has much to say about how to live a Christ-honoring new life, that’s not the only purpose of the Book. What Scripture provides for us is a solution for mankind’s greatest need: rescue from sin and eternal separation from God.⁣
⁣
From the promise of salvation in Genesis 3:15 all the way to the true hope of a new heaven and new earth (Revelation 21:1–2), the Bible explains that God has an eternal plan for rescuing us from our sin and allowing us to enjoy fellowship with Him. In every story and every suggestion for how to live, the Bible is pointing us to Jesus—the only One who can solve our biggest problem.⁣
⁣
When we open God’s Book, may we remember that we’re looking for Jesus, the rescue He offers, and how to live as His children. He’s provided the greatest solution of all!⁣
⁣
—DAVE BRANON⁣
⁣
How has Jesus and His promise to rescue those who believe in Him touched your heart and life? Why is it vital to see that the Bible consistently points to Christ?⁣
⁣
Father, thank You for the salvation You provided through Jesus. Help me to honor You by keeping focused on our Savior and His amazing love for me.⁣

Your breakthrough, your moment, your “turn” your opportunity, draws nigh! I declare that boldly in the name of Jesus! Your good attitude has been seen by ether Lord. Your patience and diligence has been taken note of, as has your integrity and excellence, glory to God! But equally important, is this factor: Because you supported and cheered for others, because you encouraged and even prayed for them when they got theirs.... Now God is about to make it happen for you. Praise Him in advance, boldly tell God Thank You in Jesus’ name! For this comes forth quickly for many of you, says the Lord. Maintain that heart posture and BE READY! Glory to God!!

'People loved darkness rather than light.'
I loved knowledge because it gave me respect.
I loved happiness because it gave me meaning.
I loved riches because it gave me pleasure.
I loved lust for the fleeting moments with her.
I loved approval because it gave me worth.
I loved religion because I could pretend I loved God.
I loved God only when He gave any of the above.
I loved others because of what they could give me.
I loved me because I deserved love.
The more I loved these, the more I felt empty.
Free me from this darkness, whoever You are, if You are.

  • DO YOU FEEL GUILTY ABOUT YOUR BIBLE READING?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You’re not alone. A recent survey revealed that 2 out of 3 women want to read the Bible more than they do, but few of us actually grow in our daily Bible reading habits.🙈
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That's why I started #BibleandBreakfast. A few years ago, I invited my readers to join me in a 31–day challenge to read our Bibles while trying out new breakfasts.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Honestly, I didn’t know if anyone would be interested, but I figured it was worth a try, right? 🤷🏻
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The response was overwhelming! In just a week, more than 1,000 women signed up, and for 31 days we swapped recipes and Scripture insights—all from our own kitchen tables around the world. And I want that for you too. 💖
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
That’s why I wrote this book, and I’ll be sharing more of my own Bible & Breakfasts moments here and I‘d love for you to join me and share your Bible & Breakfast moments too!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I want for you to encounter Jesus in His Word in a fresh way, and keep a record how God fed you each morning and stirred in your heart a hunger for Him.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Does that sound good to you?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But I feel like we need to get something out of the way first. Because we’ve all started Bible study books and devotionals with high hopes, only to be burdened with guilt when they’re collecting dust on our nightstands weeks later. 🙋🏻‍♀️
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Listen, friend, there’s no Quiet Time police that are going to come knocking on your door. This journey is between you and Jesus. God is after our hearts, not our checklists. So shed the guilt and accept Jesus’ invitation to delight in Him:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find will find rest for your souls." (Matt. 11:28–29)📖
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Rest. Freedom. Joy. 👏🏻
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
They’re all ours when we make our way to Jesus. So grab your Bible, a pen, and an apron, and let’s get started.

  • And seeing the multitudes, He went up into a mountain: and when He was set, His disciples came unto Him:

2 And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,

3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

4 Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

5 Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

6 Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

7 Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

9 Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

11 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is.....

  • @Regrann from @intouchmin - Read // Romans 6:15-23
If professing believers were really honest, many would say their lives bear little resemblance to the Christian life described in Scripture. They struggle repeatedly with the same sins, feel that God rarely answers prayers, and wonder why He hasn’t given them the desires of their heart. How is this possible?

The problem may be a lack of submission to Jesus Christ. People often want the forgiveness of sins and the promise of heaven but are not willing to place themselves under the lordship of Christ. Therefore, they are disconnected from what He wants to do in their life. In refusing to submit, they forfeit the blessings that come to those who know Christ as Savior and Lord.
As today’s passage states, “You are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin resulting in death, or of obedience resulting in righteousness” (v. 16). Although we strongly dislike the concept of slavery, that is the reality for every person who enters the world: We are all born as slaves of sin. Thankfully, that doesn’t have to be the final word. Anyone who turns to Christ in repentance and faith is set free. However, this is not freedom to simply do whatever we want. In fact, doing so would naturally head us back to our old slave master of sin.
Avoiding submission to God results in wasted years of chasing after His blessings through our own cunning. True freedom and blessing are found only in being a slave to God, who is always good, wise, and loving. In obedience to His will, we find freedom from sin, answers to prayer, and new desires that come from a changed heart. #dailydevo #devotion #devotional #dailydevotion #dailydevotional #god #godsword #submission #believe #bible #followjesus #blessing #followjesuschrist Thank You And Devotional Credit To @intouchmin

  • “For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your Heavenly Father will also forgive you.” Matthew 6:14⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Divorce is never God’s plan. Marriage is intended to be for life. However, divorce, remarriage and broken relationships are a very real part of our society today. So, how does a divorced Christian navigate remarriage? Now, don’t miss this: if the new marriage has NOTHING to do with the divorce that occurred, then there are a few things to deal with before saying “I do.”⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1) Ask God for forgiveness . ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
“But my spouse cheated and sinned against ME. Why do I need forgiveness?” The truth is, no one except Jesus is 100% innocent. We’re all sinners. And everyone who has gone through a divorce needs to ask God’s forgiveness for their part — no matter how big or small.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
2) Forgive your ex.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For so,e this may seem impossible, but with Jesus it’s not optional. We are to forgive others in the same way that God forgives us (Ephesians 4:31-32). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
3) Ask your ex and kids for forgiveness.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Whether in person, writing, over the phone, make sure you acknowledge that you fell short in the relationship. This is key when children are involved. But make sure they’re at an age to understand.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
4) Take your time.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Unresolved emotional baggage and hurt will be taken out on the new spouse. You owe it to that person to take the time to heal and to get right with God.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Remember that although divorce is never God’s plan, once you’ve sought God’s forgiveness, you’re forgiven for good (1 John 1:9). Let go of the guilt and regret and trust God as you step into the future.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Luke 13:22Then Jesus went and taught in one town and village after another on His way to Jerusalem. 23Someone asked Him, “Lord, are only a few people saved?" 24“Struggle to get in through the narrow door,” He told them. “I tell you, many will try to get in and not succeed.

  • God looks in our hearts. When we sin, He is faithful to bring trials, by giving us " a broken heart" or "crushed spirit" in our life to humble us. For it is only then we will feel our need of Him and cry out to Him. 🙏

Invite Him into every area of your life that needs healing. Allow His Spirit and word to comfort you. Always know that God is with you. 💞

  • Therefore whatever you have said in the darkness will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered behind closed doors will be proclaimed on the housetops. Luke 12:3 NABRE
.
Jesus opens chapter twelve speaking about the hypocrisy of the religious leaders called Pharisees. They are hypocrites because they act upright but inside they are full of evil. They are quick to point out others faults but they don't see their own. Jesus compares this to leaven, just a little can affect the entire lump of dough. Jesus indicates the Pharisees are a corrupting influence, they are poor leaders. Jesus teaches disciples how to be genuine followers and good leaders, so they become a positive leaven and positive influence as well as coworkers for the kingdom. Jesus indicates no one will get away with hypocrisy. He shares that hypocrisy will be seen, and people will know who are the weak in this regard. The spread of God's word from the believer’s needs to be shared from the heart. Jesus is indicating anything that is said will be discovered, so if you don't believe in your heart you must work toward belief. Those who speak well of the message but don't really believe will be found to be hypocrites. .
.
A way to show belief is to live the message. Speak kindly of others and hold your tongue. Many times we can discover friends or other Christians speaking of a situation that wasn't quite right. Someone cut them off in traffic, or shopping for groceries. While they may have held their tongue in the moment they are emotional and share what happened; with friends, family and maybe even social media. This bashing of others after the fact is not what a Christian should do, a believer would offer the other cheek, walk the extra mile or give a sweater. .
.
Do you speak of others behind their back? Do you denigrate someone to your friends?

  • It’s easy to praise God when you are surrounded by proof of his existence. #dailydevotion 24 August #eveningdevotion
#Bible: "He forgives all my sins and heals all my diseases. He keeps me from the grave and blesses me with #love and #mercy. He fills all my #life with #good things, so that I stay #young and #strong like an eagle"
#Psalm 103:3-5

Sometimes I like to go out into the forest alone, just to sit quietly. Things start to happen away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, far from traffic noises and other people’s conversations. I find that I dwell on the immediate, on the insects and bird song, on the texture of trees and colour of wild flowers. And inevitably my thoughts tum to #God and how everything around me was made by his hand. At #quiet times like these I become quite the poet. It’s easy to #praise God when you are surrounded by proof of his existence.
Take time one day to seek silence and marvel at what God has done for you, and you too will find that it helps you stay ‘young and strong like an eagle’.

#Prayer: Your blessings surround me always, Lord. Help me to see them. Amen.
