  • Austria's most famous and picturesque town in conditions like i've never seen it before. Spring was already here, trees turned green but winter striked back and sprinkled some fresh sugar on top 😍

  • Happy Holi everyone. This is the Hindu festival of spring, color, and love. It’s officially the end of winter and now the beginning of spring. While I wasn’t in India to celebrate it, it still felt genuine here in the UAE with all the Hindu people out here. I can’t wait to visit India and truly experience holi in its native lands.

  • Milford Sound, once called the 8th Wonder of the World, is one of those places you’ve got to experience for yourself. No perfectly framed photograph will make you feel the vastness of this space, the intensity of the fiords, the beauty of the surrounds and the magic that seeps out from every crevice. || #JanzDownUnder

Cliffs of Moher and the power of an idea! With @ihaveadarksoul / In 1835, Cornelius O’Brien (an Irish politician) built a tower on the Cliffs of Moher. His intention was to create an observatory for the hundreds of tourists that frequented the area. O’Brien strongly believed that the development of tourism would benefit the local economy and bring people out of poverty. After all, this region was not known for its strong economic activity.

This is why O’Brien made a lot of efforts and invested in the future of the region. His most notable contribution was probably the national school. However, it is said in the locality that O’Brien “built everything around here except the Cliffs.” He died in 1857 and ever since the structure overlooking the ocean was referred to as O’Brien’s Tower (see pic. 6). Today, more than 1 million tourist visit the region to contemplate this majestic view and the cliffs are one of the most popular tourist destinations in Ireland. So, one can say that O’Brien had actually a great vision in mind!

At their southern end, the cliffs rise 390 ft above the Atlantic Ocean. However, at their northern end they reach their maximum height of 702 ft, where O’Brien’s Tower can be found. The oldest rocks forming the cliffs can be found at the bottom, where it is possible to see 300-million-year-old river channels cutting through.

In 2011, the Cliffs of Moher and the Burren formed one of the most important Geoparks in Europe, also recognized by UNESCO. Previously, the Cliffs of Moher were featured at Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and they have been the scene for music videos as well, including Marron 5’s Runaway.
