It seems like everyone is jumping on the “non-GMO” bandwagon these days. But I’d bet a lot of people haven’t stopped to consider that virtually all their favorite “natural” foods are still the result of genetic modification that has been happening for thousands of years.
.
These breeding practices have worked to bring us some delicious and highly nutritious foods by selectively breeding for desirable traits. But where did these foods get their starts? Have take a look above.

  • Snake Plant in The Bedroom👇🔥💚

The Snake Plant, or Mother-in-Law's Tongue, is one of the most recommended plants for improving air quality. The optimal place to keep this relatively inexpensive and low-maintenance plant is the bedroom, because it converts CO2 into oxygen at night.

Mother-in-Law's Tongue is recommended by a NASA study (which lists at least a dozen air-improving plants) and research has shown us that just three common houseplants can improve indoor air.

Mother-in-Law's Tongue is known as "the bedroom plant." While most plants take away oxygen at night, this one gives off oxygen at night.

So consider having a snake plant in your bedroom for greater air quality.

  • Healthy Skin Through A Vegan/ Vegetarian Diet.💚

Vegans and vegetarians tend to eat more fruits and vegetables than their carnivorous counterparts—which is great news for their skin!

Plant-based diets are typically low in fat and avoid the pore-clogging saturated fats found in animal products.

Fruits and vegetables are high in essential vitamins and antioxidants, which are the building blocks for radiant skin.
Plus, the fiber from produce and whole grains crank up that healthy glow by flushing out toxins.

Listen to this vegan testimony from a vegan from huffpost.
"When I first made the decision to adopt a vegan diet, many of the more “seasoned” vegans in my life told me about all the wonderful benefits I could expect. I heard that I would likely drop unwanted weightmore easily, that I would have more energy and that I wouldn’t have to worry as much about things like heart diseaseor cancer.

Those things all sounded great, but after I went vegan, I discovered a whole world of benefits no one had ever told me about.

The first was that seemingly overnight, my skin turned from an acne-prone mess into beautiful, clear, healthy-looking skin.

I had struggled with acne my entire teenage life and into my early adulthood, and to be completely honest, I had tried everything to help solve the problem.

Harsh chemicals on my face, eliminating junk food, facials — the works! Little did I know my dairy habit could have been the culprit for my constantly-irritated skin.

Turns out, there is a link between ditching dairy and improving your skin’s overall appearance. I wish someone had told me so I could have chucked it sooner"

So,Make the switch to a vegan diet...

The avocado is a rather unique fruit.
Avocado is a high-fat food.

In fact, 77% of the calories in it are from fat, making it one of the fattiest plant foods in existence.

But they don’t just contain any fat. The majority of the fat in avocado is oleic acid — a monounsaturated fatty acid that is also the major component of olive oil and believed to be responsible for some of its health benefits.

Oleic acid has been associated with reduced inflammation and shown to have beneficial effects on genes linked to cancer.

The fats in avocado are also rather resistant to heat-induced oxidation, making avocado oil a healthy and safe choice for cooking. .

  • MY 2 CENTS ABOUT CHILDREN DIETING

After seeing the weight watchers diet app I thought I’d write down my thoughts to trigger a discussion.

I might have it completely wrong. I’m sure many will disagree and I’m always open to others ideas and suggestions but here goes... Let’s discuss this.

1️⃣ children don’t need to know their weight
This is completely irrelevant to their health and worth. May be some education around how weight can fluctuate and be easily manipulated might be a good idea?

2️⃣ BMI should never be used for anyone
It doesn’t take into account muscle mass, many rugby players would be considered obese based on this measure.

3️⃣ food should not be discussed as good or bad
Or used as treats or rewards. This can establish bad relationships with food.

4️⃣ as parents you’re role models
👉Role model the good eating habits you want your children to grow up with. 👉Look at your environment at home. Where are the tasty highly calorific foods kept compared to the nutritious lower calorie options.
👉 be active with them, do physical things.

5️⃣ educate them
No foods are off limits, all foods are ok, but all foods can be detrimental in excess. Balance and moderation.

6️⃣ focus on habits
👉 why fruit and veg is good and needed - always offer it at every meal and make sure the majority of any plate consists of veg.
👉 why protein is important
👉 how carbs are needed for exercise
👉 fats for hormones - talk about appropriate amounts, the best sources.
👉the importance of drinking water - give them a bottle to drink from and carry with them.
👉 the importance of being active (social, physical, and mental health) - do something active every day.
👉 avoid watching tv whilst eating - encourage mindful slower eating and reflection on how they feel after eating.

7️⃣ help them learn to cook/learn to cook with them
Give them the tools to lead a healthy lifestyle. As an ex school teacher I also think schools have a big role to play and the curriculum needs changing to incorporate this. This is clearly important. Child obesity is growing.

What do you think? Would you add anything? Not agree?

  • 🍴 Holding guilt around food is never a good feeling. Rather enjoy and treat yourself, but in moderation. This honeybun goes great with coffee ☕
⁣⠀
This amazing post from @confessionofadietitian really shows the shocking differences between calories - but also is eye opening to the fact that both options are acceptable and can be justified! Some days you may want the cinnamon roll! So why not - the regular high quality workouts in a healthy and fit lifestyle offer some added bonuses sometimes 🙏🏼⌚
⁣⠀
🕵🏼♂Have a great Monday!

They took 24 athletes across a range of sports (football, volleyball, cross-country skiing, judo, jujitsu, tae kwon do, waterskiing, motocross, cycling, track and field, kickboxing, gymnastics, alpine skiing, ski jumping, freestyle sports dancing, skating, biathlon, and ice hockey) and had them diet until they lost around 4% of their total bodyweight (the exact target differed depending on their sporting needs).⁣⁣

  • Are weekends killing your diet?
-
I could go all week meal prepping, saying no to the office sweet jar, snacking on fruits and veggies, and hitting the gym after work. But then the weekend came and I’d be completely thrown off!
-
When I was working a 9 to 5pm job I could stay on track and lose weight throughout the week, but only to have at all back (sometimes plus extra) by Sunday night.
-
If weekends are killing your diet, here's how to fix it
-
Here are 4 steps that may help

1. I stopped starving myself during the week
If your diet during the week is strict, you are much more likely to binge as soon as Friday night hits.  After 5 days of unflavored veggies, plain chicken, and mounds of brown rice…pizza starts to look just so much more appealing! Make your food tasty during the week and don’t restrict.
-
2. I planned time to work out, even if all I could fit in was a 20 min walk at lunch
Plan your week ahead. Today is Sunday and I have my week planned out (a little OCD I know) and this helps me to stick to a plan and a routine.
-
3. Prep Meals Ahead
Weekend meal prep?  If that sounds totally unrealistic to you, trust me, you are not alone!
If you’re hungry and have no healthy food in sight, you’ll definitely feel more inclined to say yes to that convenient pizza slice, or stop by McDonalds for a quick crunchwrap. If you know you are watching the rugby world cup then plan ahead, check the menu, or enjoy it and reduce calories after.
-
4. It’s Always a Mental Game
Have you ever told yourself any of these? “I worked hard all week, I don’t need to work out”
“It’s the weekend, calories don’t count”
“After all my dedication this week, I deserve a break”
Don’t use food/exercise as punishment and reward.

  • It’s okay if you ate more than you did this weekend.
-
It’s okay if you did not achieve your desired goal.
-
It’s okay if you were busy and did not find the time to workout.
-
Life happens but what’s most important is you don’t give up and try again.
-
For my friends who feel that they have failed, you have not failed. You will only have truly failed if you did not try one more time.
-
Stick in your own lane and keep your blinders on.
-
Wishing you a productive week ahead. This coming week is yours for the taking 👊

  • 🔥 4 Week Fat Loss Plan 🔥⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
8lbs in 4 weeks!!! 8lbs!!! This woman has absolutely smashed it!! 🙌🏻⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
She is now off on holiday excited to wear her bikini 👙 I couldn’t be happier for her!!!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In her own words how the program went for her.......⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Victoria has been a massive help, she made me feel comfortable in the gym and shown me how to use all the equipment and made everything less daunting, her programme has been so helpful and her guidance has helped me push through, I was clueless to anything gym/diet related but Victoria has helped massively with any questions I’ve had and has been at the end of the phone no matter what time of day! The spreadsheet has definitely helped me stay focused and I have enjoyed looking at my progress over the 4 weeks, I would 100% recommend it to anyone who struggles with dieting, I look forward to continuing my training/classes after my holiday and using the knowledge Victoria has given me over the past few weeks in the future 😊⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This is amazing feedback and I’m so glad I could help her on her journey. She is a member of @puregymsalford so I got to see her for a catch up and I even did a circuits class with her in the last few days of the plan. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you would love to get similar results then get in touch and you can start the program whenever you want. It is all online and you don’t even have to be a member of any gym to do it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Let me help you get amazing results too - get in contact or click the link in my Instagram bio to sign up!!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
