  • SWIPE to see the evolution of this dining area! 😮🍽🍉

What may seem like a simple and cozy dining area of the kitchen was actually quite a bit of labor to accomplish. .
.
First and foremost, the wall dividing the kitchen off the eating area needed to be demo'd out. It made the space compartmentalized and the whole idea was to make this 'shoebox-shaped' home feel as welcoming as possible. So, bye bye wall. ✌
.
.
Once we were down to a clean (ish) slate, it became evident the previous plumbing wasn't going to go gentle into that good night (all block and brick construction and messing with connections on super old houses can get tricky). 😞 So, we furred out the kitchen walls to simply accomodate what we had to work with. It made for a bit of a deeper sill at the new windows, which I actually really liked. .
.

We re-supported the beam at the demo'd wall, new picture window in dining to let natural light pour in, all electrical updated, new drywall at kitchen added, sqaure corner bead for a cleaner look, santa fe texture (we later floated ceiling for same texture), accent wall at dining area with white textured large format vertical tile to the ceiling, left off the baseboards and I elected can lighting in kitchen and a small (but fun) pendant above eating area. .
.
Clean lines, lots of light, good "eye energy" (my new catch phrase lol) and room to breathe. I hope whoever buys this house has just as much fun in this space as I did #renovating it. ☺🙌
