  • The couples I’m working with this summer are all about COLOUR and I’m very much here for it 🙋🏻‍♀️😍🌈
I’ve seen a few weddings recently where the thank you cards are put out as part of the place settings on the day, and I love that idea 💖 not only does it save you on the old postage, but it’s also a really lovely personal way to connect with your guests on the day and let them know why they’re important to you - L O V E. • As promised, here's a how-to on how we DIY'd our panelling

Couple of tips -
• We worked left to right, top to bottom
• We used no more nails to stick the MDF on, and a nail gun to pin it in place (hammer and pin nails could be used instead)
• Mr 58 had to cut out a chunk in the MDF to allow for architrave. Easily caulked to finish
• The vertical strips were 1 long piece, whereas the horizontal spacers were cut down to size

1) Removed skirting & picture rail. Plastered the wall and installed new skirting. Mist coated the fresh plaster.

2) Had @bandq_uk cut sheets of 9mm MDF into 10mm strips

3) Used them as a grid to work out the size of our squares. Also a bit of maths helped us work out that 6x4 squares would work. (I had wanted 7x5 but using the strips of MDF showed me the squares would be too small) You can then work out the size for the horizontal strips that will sit between the vertical long strips, and cut 2 pieces to that size, to be used as a measuring tool

4) Glued and pinned far left hand edge into place, using a spirit level to ensure fully vertical. Doesn't matter if there's a slight gap - it can be filled with caulk

5) Cut a mass of appropriately sized smaller horizontal strips. Then glue and nail the top horizontal strip into place against left hand vertical strip

6) Use your pre cut measuring strips (vertically, under the one you've just pinned) to set the next horizontal strip the correct distance away from the top strip you've just inserted.

7) Repeat step 6, the whole way down.

8) Once you reach the bottom, take the next full length vertical strip, and butt it up against the horizontal strips that you've just pinned. Then repeat steps 6&7, working top to bottom, and left to right.

9) Prime the wood

10) Hole punch any nails in, then wood fill the holes, any wood damage, and where the strips join

11) Caulk the top and side edges to fill gaps between walls/coving/architrave, as well as inside each square so there's no gap where it meets the wall

12) Then, paint! We used @farrowandball Plummett from @decoratingcentreonline

And that's it! Super simple, super cheap but looks 👌🏻

#booksbooksbooks

  • C’mon, we all have a palette that remains untouched...right? Hoping it’s not just me! 🙈 Got my hair done yesterday and is it me or does it never quite feel right the day after? Dried and styled in a way you wouldn’t normally do it? Still, feels tons better than before and it’s well worth a numb bum! ✨👏

  • When your nails match your dress and the garnish in your G&T 🍊 talk about accidental branding!

Lots on the to do list today, so little time! But we’re almost at the weekend, so if I can get my stuff all done before then, I’ll be a happy girl 🥰 I’m ready for that gin!

Speaking of gin, tonight I’m off for a gin tasting with @boe_gin at @barencore which I have been kindly given complimentary tickets for 🍸 if drinking lots of gin on a Thursday night isn’t the height of sophistication, then I don’t know what is! Bar Encore is definitely a great place for drinks and I’m still yet to come for tapas!

I’ll be sharing what we get up to with them this evening on my social media so keep your eyes peeled for that 👀 if you were a G&T, what flavour would you be and why? 🍋 #NavigatingNorthants
