I was complaining to Mitch the other day about my pet peeves... They include 1) hangers on the bed 2) when things are on top of my laptop and 3) a spoon clanging around in the car after I eat my breakfast on the go. It’s the worst sound/situation ever. @oatsovernight has an AMAZING solution to this problem. #ditchthespoon with their blender bottle and protein PACKED oatmeal. Just add milk and refrigerate overnight. Honestly SO delicious (more PB chocolate banana please) and nutritious, with over 32g of protein . It’s basically breakfast for hustlers... Check out the blog for more info + video. ❌🥄 #oatsovernight

Every year, about 8 million tonnes of plastic waste streams into our seas and oceans. That figure can be quite overwhelming and it’s easy to dissociate from numbers, but the truth is, we are confronted with plastic all the time.
One way to help reduce that number is with our ice cream choices.
*Ditch the spoon & choose the cone*
Most ice cream shops offer single use plastic spoons and cups, which aren’t recyclable or biodegradable.
*Skip the tasting & stop the wasting*
Sampling ice cream flavors is extremely wasteful. Each time we taste a different flavor, we’re contributing to the demand for more plastic, which will only break down into smaller pieces and stick around on the planet forever.
What can you do?
🍦As an individual - eat ice cream the original way - with your tongue :) If you can, skip the plastic spoons and cups and go with a cone!
🍦As a business - offer reusable or edible spoons for tastings and limit the number per customer. When serving you can either skip offering spoons or choose spoons and cones that are edible, catering for all sorts of diets (including vegan and gluten free). Drawing by @wild_evi

We have been eating as many peaches as possible this past week and after a bazillion attempts, Max finally tried one.🍑
🚨Peaches are a choking hazard for children under age 5. Read carefully for how to safely prepare.🚨
While you can introduce Peaches to your baby in the solid form as early as 6 months (provided your baby is showing all the signs of readiness for solids), I waited until after the babies were a year old and better at handling slippery fruit. Though if you want to see The Great Flying Peach, give your baby a skinned and quartered peach and watch it soar across the kitchen.🚀
Because Peaches are slippery, have tough skins, and a pit, you must prepare them safely to minimize choking risks for your baby’s age.
Here are my personal recommendations:
· 6-7 months: Cut Peach into one half, remove pit and skin. Give entire half to baby to suck on. You can also mash the cut fruit and put into a bowl with some oatmeal for hand-scooping. Got teeth already? See 7-12 months preparation.
· 7-12 months: Cut Peach into halves and peel off the fuzzy skin. From there, cut into thin slices with a crinkle cutter (to aid grip) or alternatively, roll each slice crushed Rice Krispies or Panko Breadcrumbs to make it easier for your babe to pick up.
· 12-24 months: Cut in half and remove skin and pit. From there you can either serve as diced pieces, thin slices, or mashed in yogurt for spoon (or fork!) practice.
⭐️ProTip: Got mealy Peach? It’s not you—it’s your grocery store. Peaches turn mealy when they’ve been temporarily refrigerated.

Food No. 63 of my babies’ first #1000Foods with #FingerFoodFirst was Shrimp!🍤
If you’ve read some of my posts, you know that I am (no longer) a fan of making homemade baby food purées. I am all for cooking at home if you can swing it, but the culture boomerang from Gerber baby food jars to the expectation that moms should now be making what is essentially commercial grade baby food from scratch is problematic for me. Is there no end to the rising expectations of moms?🦸🏻♀️
Don’t get me wrong—I totally made my own baby food with my first born, Charlie. I made kale and onion purées, roasted red pepper purées, homemade hummus, and on and on and on. I had the little baby blender/steamer and the endless little containers for freezing single servings. I was doing my level best. And it was mostly for nothing: day after day I fed my homemade purées only to have Charlie eventually stop eating entirely.💔
And it makes sense: Charlie’s experience was that of being FED. It was not eating. He had no control over what came driving toward his mouth.
All this said, there is a time that the food processors come in super handy: and that is pulverizing things like shrimp so they can be made into glorious little fritters. (Recipe on previous post).👉🏻
🚨Shrimp poses a major choking hazard served whole or even halved.🚨But if you pulverize it in a food processor or finely mince it (maybe served on top of grits?), Shrimp can be introduced along with other first foods to your baby. It’s got a decent amount of calcium and protein and while it’s a top food allergen, there’s no need to hold off. Just start small.🥢
💡Here’s a thought: make some shrimp fritters for yourself for dinner and share some with your baby. Just hold the salt.
