DOWN WITH THE UNION “There's where I labored so hard for old massa,
Day after day in the field of yellow corn,
No place on earth do I love more sincerely,
Than old Virginny, the state where I was born.” “Well the mansion where the General used to live is burning down
Cotton fields are blue with Sherman's troupes
I overheard a Yankee say yesterday Nashville fell
So I'm on my way to join the fight General Lee might need my help ”

Hello friends! Keeping with my Dixieland theme, today I have a very simple, yet delicious cocktail known as the Dixie Julep. This is essentially a mint julep, made with bourbon instead of normal whiskey. There is a good mint flavor, and the bourbon plays very nicely with the sugar. With the warmer weather on the way, this cocktail is nice and refreshing, and perfect to knock back, especially during Derby Day!
Recipe: Into a 12 oz. Tom Collins glass put
4 Sprigs of Mint (@crazyfreshproduce Herb Mint)
1 Teaspoon Powdered Sugar (Collins Bar Sugar with Foamer)
2.5 oz. Bourbon Whiskey (@buffalotrace)
Fill with shaved ice and stir gently until glass is frosted. Decorate with sprigs of mint. Serve with straws.
