This is Gus! Gus, a squishy lab/sharpei mix, is a noble, housebroken gentleman who absolutely adores people (especially kids), all dogs, and dog-savvy cats (so, no runners). Gus was given up by his first human, but he hasn’t let that hold him back! He is absolutely FULL of love and joy! His favorite place to be is curled up next to his humans, but he knows when it’s time to go on walks, and will run around with excitement!
He is also a great source of comedic relief-he likes falling asleep on the sofa, but tends to roll off onto the floor! It doesn’t seem to phase him much, as this is a regular occurrence. Gus was born with hip dysplasia and came into the rescue not knowing that living in pain wasn’t normal. Thankfully, he had one hip surgery and is doing great. Gus will need a family that continues his physical therapy by making sure he gets plenty of exercise, and can support him when he may have to have his other hip done in 1-2 years. Gus would do best with a family who either has someone home during most of the day, or another dog to play with (ideally, both!). There isn’t anyone who has met him that hasn’t fallen in love with him. He’s simply an amazing dog!
Wish List: - Fenced in yard - Someone home during at least most of the day OR another friendly dog to play with - ideally, both - Someone who will continue his physical therapy and is able to support him through a possible second hip surgery in 1-2 years if needed - Takes advantage of free dog-sitting offer by Gus’s foster family, who absolutely adores him!

For a couple of weeks, heck, months, I had been feeling a little less like myself. My favorite people took me to my vet and all I could sense was sadness in their eyes and voices as we headed back home. My parents were pretty speechless, my other little person was oblivious, my sister’s were just excited I was back home. Weeks passed and I didn’t seem to make progress, quite the opposite. Only great thing was I got to eat so much human food, cereal was my fave. I could tell they were in denial, anxious and scared of the next couple of days. Then Friday, March 15th 2019 came, and I tried to tell them through my eyes I just wasn’t feeling my best any more. I had pushed through for them, but I was exhausted, I needed to rest. Saturday came and I knew this day was going to be a painful blessing. Texts were sent, facetime calls were made, mom took pictures of me and my sisters before we walked out, then she took some with me. I love you they all kept saying. Well, I love you too. Once we were at the vet I was so happy to see nana and pop pop there too. I was so excited! They gathered around, vet checked me out and everyone tried to make jokes about my mischievous days. But they all had tears in their eyes. I didn’t know why, I was so happy they were all there. Dad took me in his arms, mom next to him, she held my face and they told me again we love you so much. Dr. proceeded with the needle and I slowly began to fall asleep. Gosh was that peaceful. I was just so tired. Everyone broke down but I still don’t understand why. The all took a moment before letting my body go. But I am as happy as can be, I run wild, fast, I chase squirrels and bark at literally everything! They miss my crazy ears, my bark, my presence, but I guard them every single day, heaven has a new angel.
Hundekekse gegen Zecken
1 Tasse Kokosmehl
½ Tasse Blaubeeren & Himbeeren, leicht zerhackt
1 Banane, zermatscht
