  • Two weeks ago i started working again after struggling with my health for 4 months - and it feels so good to be back! I feel tired but oh so happy. When you are ill for such a long time, everyday starts to feel the same and weekends don't feel like weekends anymore. So now that i am back on track saturday feels like real bliss again. I will keep it simple today as my little one has the flu but just being home, pottering around, reading a good book and enjoying time with my loved ones, what more can i ask for? How will you spend the weekend? Whatever you're up to make it a good one. 💛

  • I practice gratitude every day, like literally. I could be walking around, and all of a sudden I notice something and I would start being grateful for it. I started practicing gratefulness a few years back, and I never stop.
•
This week something that most of us take for granted was shaken for me; my health.
•
Last weekend started with crazy discontinuation symptoms including vertigo, vomiting, sweats, chills and more. But I knew where all those symptoms were coming from, so I wasn't anxious about having some urgent health situation.
•
On Wednesday, everything changed. I woke up from a nap at 16:00 with sharp chest pain on my left side. Being a hypochondriac med student, right away I thought that I had a heart infarct. The logical part of me kicked in and told me to calm the F down which I did, but hours later the pain was still there, and it was just getting worst. By 21:00, I headed to the ER because one thing I knew was that I was starting to get scared. Things went pretty fast from the moment I stepped into the ER. Got the whole shebang done; EKG, cardiac and abdominal echo, blood test and cultures. The primary differential diagnoses to eliminate were: pulmonary embolism, pancreatitis, heart infarct - needless to say that I was freaking out.
•
All my labs came back clear, so they treated me for a pulmonary embolism by giving me a dose of Fragmin and scheduling me for a scintigraphy the next day. The scintigraphy ended up being clear, and all critical cause were excluded. I can report that I was and still am relieved.
•
But the sharp pain on my left side is still very much there. I have a hard time moving or even breathing without being in pain. For the past week, I have been outside my house only one time, and that was to go to the hospital. Today, I can say that I feel for all the patients that have chronic illnesses and chronic pain.
•
I'll be heading to the hospital for more test and will keep you all posted on the situation. For this holiday season, I wish you all HEALTH! Love, Alina xx

P.S. For those of you out there that are going through a hard time during the holiday season for whatever reason, I am sending lots of love your way.

  • Need some motivation on this Monday? Well here’s to my sister, best friend, and partner in crime.
.
Growing up, you could almost always find us at @fitnessquestbrandon . We were basically born & raised there, so I guess you could say our love for the gym is just in our nature.
We also both shared a passion for gymnastics and volleyball. I was low key jealous of Shae as she was no doubt the more talented athlete.
Despite being younger, I’ve always looked up to her. The work ethic, determination, and leadership Shae shows as an athlete is like no other.
.
“If you don’t stop all sports/activities immediately, you will end up in a wheelchair” the doctor told my 15 year old sister. Seeing such a huge part of Shae’s life being taken from her was heart breaking. Unfortunately she is still dealing with a lot of pain even after a major back surgery. BUT regardless of the bad days, you will find her in the gym walking & stretching. You will see her in the stands cheering on her old teammates. And most importantly, you will know her strength as that smile is always on her face. Shae is my motivation everyday.
.
“You can’t control what happens to you in life, but you can control how you handle it. I will heal, I will not stop fighting.”

  • The first part of my blog about my stem cell transplant is up. Shew it was tough to relive it & remember all I went through. There was a time I just wanted to give up on everything & really felt like I couldn’t carry on. I thought I had made the biggest mistake of my life.

  • YOUR HEALTH is AN INVESTMENT
... make the most of it!
I am lucky 😁
Over the past three years I have been rarely sick...
I look after my health by eating good, clean, nutritious food and I exercise regularly... BUT the last couple of days have completely underlined the fact that we should NEVER take our HEALTH for granted!
This sickness bug I had over the last couple of days completely floored me - I know many of you have already experienced it....🤢 It really got me thinking about people who take their health for granted until one day they wake up and they no longer have it... That’s why I am more determined than ever to make ‘THE REST OF MY LIFE, THE BEST OF MY LIFE’

Your HEALTH is your WEALTH...
SO NO MORE EXCUSES
❗️I haven’t got the time to workout ❗️It’s too expensive to eat healthily
❗️I haven’t got the energy to exercise
❗️I haven’t got the money to workout ❗️EXCUSES, EXCUSES, EXCUSES

IF YOU REALLY WANT SOMETHING,
YOU CAN DO IT!
IF YOU DON’t YOU WON’T,
IT’S THAT SIMPLE... YOUR HEALTH is AN INVESTMENT
... make the most of it!
Make the decision today to make
THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, THE BEST OF YOUR LIFE’
I can help you every step of the way, whether it is to ❓ lose weight
❓ become fitter ❓ eat more healthily
❓ live a longer healthier life

Post a ‘YES’ below or DM me and i will be in touch.

  • And another one! Breakfast for the rest of the week and it took about 25 minutes. One lb of preservative free bacon, Brussels sprouts, carrots, onions and apples. We will serve this along with a soft boiled egg. I can’t think of a better way to start the day, although it’s not bad a lunch, dinner or a snack either 😊. Pork fat rules!!!

  • We are here to inspire you, encourage you when days are hard. Help you with your nutrition, encourage personal development, and to live our best lives! ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Working out and eating properly has cured all of my health issues. I was border line diabetic ( could be controlled with diet), I was on the high end of high blood pressure and my doctor continued to encourage me to change my diet to get it under control ( but I was in such denial and always thought they didn’t know what they were talking about 🤦🏼‍♀️) and I had chronic pain in my knee caused by caring too much extra weight on my body 🤦🏼‍♀️😢⁣⁣
⁣⁣
It has helped the 3 of us clear our mind and build our strength while going through the grieving process of losing my dad. My mom has continued to remind us that working out and looking after ourselves is a privilege. It is good for our body, mind and overall well being, and to never take it for granted!! ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
A new group of gals are joining us every Monday in our “21 days of investing in you”. Do you want to be one of those gals to join our online fitness challenge?? 😬👯‍♀️💪🏼

  • Bella getting her Crossfit on!!! An amazing working out yesterday and this gurl pushed herself so hard!! Sooooo proud of her! SHE is the reason I started running!!! She tells me all the time that she hated running, and now that her ability to do so has been taken away from her, she wishes she hadn't taken that for granted! Now she wishes she could run! Well, we are working on that! Making sure she stays strong to help with her balance (and hopefully slow down the tumors that are taking over her abilities) so maybe one day she can really run or swim, or find something that she can push herself and love!!! Go, Bella! GO!!! You are my inspiration!!! When I want to give up on a run, I think of you and others that can't or have a hard time doing so!
A HUGE Thank you @whoopsie at @crossfitlaverne
for helping us find ways to help her with the workout in ways that she can keep her balance a little better!!!! #IKnowAFighter #EndNF #BellaNFWarrior #BrainTumors #BalanceForBetter

  • This man is our rock.

On Tuesday night I was up pretty much all night with severe abdominal pain. I’ve been experiencing the same pain for a few weeks, but it never lasted this long. Wednesday morning I headed to urgent care and spent a number of hours there. After an X-Ray I was sent home with severe constipation🤦🏼‍♀️
I spent the rest of the day in bed as my symptoms continued to get worse. By the time my husband got home I was in pain all over my body and had spiked a fever. We headed to the ER where the amazing nurse that cared for me quickly got me hooked up to an IV, gave me morphine for the pain, and got my blood work started. My CT scan revealed all my organs are functioning properly, but my labs revealed I have an infection. The doctor believes I likely have an infection in my GI tract, but referred me to a GI specialist to look more into the cause of my pain and infection.

I’ve spent the rest of the week resting, trying to manage my pain, and watching a whole lot of Netflix. I’m dying to workout and get a normal appetite back, but I’m trying to be patient with my body.

Through this whole ordeal my husband has kept our little family going. Taking care of both his girls without batting an eye or complaining. Thanks for loving us and putting all our needs before yours.

Here’s to next week being much healthier!

  • If you saw my post from Monday, you know I put myself through a hell of a weekend nutrition wise 🤦‍♀️⁣
⁣
I had steady been eating clean for a WHILE 🥗🍎 so I'm definitely not surprised at how shockingly upset my stomach's been the past few days 😖⁣
⁣
It's a HUGE reminder ☝️ to listen to my body and that I've been approaching food as fuel for a reason 💪💜⁣
⁣
I remember I used to feel this crappy all. the. time.⁣
⁣
I can't believe I went through life feeling that way for YEARS 😒 before I finally decided I was fed up and needed to take my health seriously.⁣
⁣
It makes me appreciate how far I've come 🧘‍♀️ and I'm super proud of the changes I'm making for a long term healthy lifestyle 👍 ⁣
⁣
Pay attention to what your body is trying to tell you! I needed the reminder, maybe someone else does too 💕

  • This was by far, one of the best blood pressure readings I’ve had in a while! And generally, the readings have all been normal, despite the odd spike every now and then! I normally check my blood pressure once a day, using a battery operated machine which was covered on insurance. It’s compact and I can easily pack it in my suitcase when I’m away! The past twelve months have been quite rough to say the least! My health was not what it should be and I was forced to go on medical leave from flying, at the request of my family doctor! I was also experiencing Kidney problems and that required a series of tests and follow ups with Transport Canada Civil Aviation Medicine! I am ever so grateful to Dr. Chen and her supervising physicians for helping me to get my health back to where it should be! I was surprised to know that if I had continued as I was, I may have risked suffering a stroke! If that had happened, I would’ve lost my pilots medical and been off from flying for an indefinite period! But as my mom always likes to say, God is good! As hard as it was to be taken away from the flying environment, my health was more important! But now I’m back at 110% and I’m ready to take on the world! And I know I may sound like a broken record when I say this this, but never ever take your health for granted! It’s the most valuable asset you have and your life depends on it! >

  • If you know me, you know I'm always thinking about somethin 🤔
Think about this: •When you want a pizza, you order it.
•When you see something on Amazon you like, you order it.
•When you don't feel like cooking, you think delivery, so you order it. •When you walk through the store & only go in for a few specific things, but then you see the random things in the checkout line, the cute clothes to your left and the shoes to your right, you tend to buy other things.
There's a point to this. You do these things without question. You like it? You get it. You're craving it? You order it. Don't want to cook? No problem, get something delivered.
Do you see how so many people will do things without question? It doesn't cross their minds at all. BUT if you ask someone, "do you want to make a change in your life? Do you want to be healthy? Do you want to feel confident? Do you want to lose weight?" They say yes, BUT that costs money and takes time. UMMMMM YOU GUYS....SO DO THE OTHER THINGS I LISTED!
Ordering that pizza costs money, buying that tank top you didn't plan on buying costs money, etc. Whenever we see something we like or want, we'll grab it and pay for it no problem. It didn't take work. It was easy and we're happy with our purchase.
But when it comes to spending money to BETTER ourselves or take time to BETTER ourselves, or put in the work to BETTER ourselves, we automatically come up with excuses as to why we can't or won't do it.
Excuses are lies you're letting yourself believe. Don't let excuses, the fear of "working hard", time, or spending money on yourself to become a healthy & confident version of yourself be the reason you don't make a change.
The pizza won't last forever. The thing you bought on Amazon might not ever get used. The little knick knacks you bought in the checkout line will probably be forgotten about. But I can tell you this.. Your health (physical & mental) is what WILL and NEEDS to last.
Think about it. If you're ready to finally make the change and jump on board with me, click the link in my bio❤📲 •

  • I got asked the question “what keeps me motivated” by someone yesterday reaching out to me for nutrition help because they can’t seem to stay on track.
After going a little deeper into WHY they never can reach a health goal, it struck me in the heart when she told me it’s because: “ I don’t feel like I’m worth feeling my best because I’m supposed to care for others first”. 💔

Legit her exact words( she told me it was ok to share). As a mother, for years she put her health last & her families first. And now she’s X amount of pounds over weight with several recent health scares.
I simply told her, YOU. Moms like YOU is what keeps me motivated. I told her I have no shame anymore for what I post because I am being messaged by moms, dads, grandparents etc who NEED an answer to their health issues & I have it.
My passion to help others become healthy is to big for the people that are only looking to bring you down bc they are miserable in their own lives (legit that’s what a hater is). When she told me she would get ridiculed, 0 support when starting yet “another diet” so she’d end up listening & fail. I said not anymore. You have me & a whole team of motivated people that are here for you. So when you do get the hate, you turn to us.
I got her started on a new journey of positive thinking & planned out her goals that SHE will achieve!

BE shameless when it comes to what you believe in, what your passion is, what your goal is. You have no idea the amount of people who are 🙏🏻 for an answer and that answer just might be YOU.

  • My today..felt really good yesterday so I skipped taking aleve because well I felt like I didn’t need it and I know it will wreck my stomach..skip to today and my feet hurt so bad & completely kicking myself for not taking an anti inflammatory last night. All I can do is smile and push through the day #chronicpainsucks #stayingpositive #donttakeyourhealthforgranted

  • ⁉️...Did you know.....⁉️
.
I have a hole in my ❤️. Yep. I’ve had it all my life but didn’t actually find out about it until I was in my late 20’s/early 30’s.

Since then I’ve had ultrasounds and echocardiograms along with yearly checkups with a cardiologist.

It’s a small hole that if found sooner they likely would have fixed it but now, they don’t.🤷‍♀️ It’s not likely to affect me during my life but no one can be certain. So I choose to take care of myself to make sure I do my part.

It’s ❤️month.
Do you know the scary facts about heart disease and stroke?

The majority of us can prevent it. By choosing a healthier diet, regular exercise, reducing stress, quitting smoking and reducing alcohol..... I know, I know it doesn’t sound like any fun giving up all the good stuff but you don’t have to give up everything you just have to find a healthy balance.

You know what isn’t fun? Being sick.

It’s mentally, emotionally and physically draining for you and your family. It can be 💔. And ladies, it kills us more than men.
So take action. No more excuses. Eventually your excuses will catch up with you.
