🌻 work in progress. Cannot wait till I have a dress form for these types of fittings but still doing good! The pattern for this dress has been self drafted as I go inspired by a RTW dress. The fabric is some type of bubble crepe from @joann_stores I still have the buttons, bottom ruffle and hem up the sleeves a bit but I really like the way it looks.
Do you make sketches for your future items?📝
It’s an interesting and inspiring process! ⠀
1⃣ You can dream about a new item
2⃣ You can try different colors
3⃣ You can try different decor
4⃣ Changing of the model is much easier on the paper ⠀
For making this process easier you can use our PDF Sewing Planner, link in BIO⬆⬆⬆
Day 15: Blue. I got a bit of flack for changing the colour when I recreated this dress, but a pop of teal on an ecru 1908 dinner dress worked way better on me than the royal blue of the original version.
✨Let’s give it up to our finale piece as captured through the lens of @reqshotit. ✨ .
✨This dress had a mono strap cut across the bustline that graciously swept across the model, @leilaesthy_ ’s back to form this elegant derivative of a Bishop sleeve. ✨ .
✨For us here in the atelier, this dress is giving us life. What do you love about this piece?✨ #shopzoharous#zoharouswoman
Missy Mop Fabrics will be open an extra day this week tomorrow!! Wednesday from 11-5pm and then as usual on Friday and Saturday. Come in and take a look at this pretty jacquard. Perfect for the free #Alice &Co pattern to celebrate the #MaryQuant exhibition. It's also reversible for a contrasting collar!
Standing in the middle of a road *will* get the angle right so you can get those pretty buildings in the shot but it *may* also get you squished.
I feel like this is a metaphor for putting yourself out there on Instagram in general... but I’m far too tired to work out how.
I’m having a bit of a crafting slump atm which hasn’t been good for my headspace. I do find that the longer I’m out of the habit of crafting the less inclined I am to do it as things build up. Anyone else get that?
What are your tips for getting out of a creative slump?
Disclaimer: I’m not promising to try any of them as I just want to eat cheese and drink wine right now and I’m ok with this life choice, but I’m still curious what you would say.
I was at a meeting with Katherine Cresswell @savvyweddingplanner about attending The Savvy Wedding Show on 27th October (https://www.facebook.com/events/478756649629010/) While at the meeting my daughter, Rosy challenged me to make a wedding dress, so yesterday I sorted out some material and today some patterns and tomorrow it all starts in earnest!
Will I be finished by the 27th October? who knows?

Hello! Been quiet as my gorgeous sister @jennypennyjones is visiting us 👯♀️ We went to an evening brunch (I know, I KNOW - a total contradiction in terms but I’m afraid you start to accept these things living here 🤷🏻♀️). I wore my old faithful pink #intrepidboilersuit by @aliceandcopatterns again - such a perfect sewing pattern and still so on-trend 🙌🏻 Put it together with glittery rose gold boots and this unbelievably marvellous holographic bag which my sis gave to me 💘 Another #outfitrepeater moment which brought me great joy!! Should I make another boilersuit?! What fabric would you use? Hope you’re all having a wonderful week ♥️

Free pleated skirt pattern view another one of my makes. the tip is to use a heavy skirt fabric which gives it a nice body. For anyone that sews no need to download link on smart bio.
Look at this bundle of goodness kindly sent to me by @vicky.carrie as part of the #swapsharesew challenge 😍 I'm confident I can use pretty much all of these goodies! So funny that we both sent each other the same @kylieandthemachine label!
Sew, I’m still ploughing through previous makes!
This was made for my daughter as a toile for her prom a few years ago to see if she liked the shape and style. A wee bit decadent making a toile out of silk 🤪 hence lining and finishing it off completely! Not really a toil at all 🤩
Unfortunately she decided she preferred a different style, this now leaves me with a lovely dress but no one to wear it! I have an idea up my sleeve so it won’t be homeless for too long now.
It’s made from beautiful satin silk which drapes and swishes beautifully 👗 The pattern was #style2532 , I actually made this pattern back in the 90s for a BUPA Christmas ball so maybe it could be called #retro 👗👗👗 If you flick through the photos you will see the actual dress she wore, this is featured quite early on in my Instagram feed if you would like to see more.
My #ootd is my first dress I sewed after I came back to sewing in September 2013! Say what!!! It’s the #ddsureau from @deer_and_doe_patterns! I even didn’t have an Instagram account at that time so I never posted the “just finished” dress.
Although nearly 6 years old I still love this dress and I wear it on a regular basis. When I came home from work this afternoon my husband said: “Hmm, nice dress baby!” 😂 👉🏻 Swipe to see some moments from the past when I wore this dress! #sewreworn#sewreshare
