  • Welcome to Wine Wednesday.  Every week, we will feature a fun, interesting and often unknown varietal. The goal is to encourage people to go outside their comfort zone and try something off the beaten path.

Tonight, we are pouring a Chardonnay from Valerie Tissot Cremant du Jura.

The history of the area actually begins in 1965 at the wedding of Jean-Louis and Françoise Tissot Masson. Valerie had two grandparents closely connected with the wine business. Albert Piroutet, on her mother’s side, was one of the founders of the Arbois Fruitière in 1906 and was one of the strongest advocates for the Arbois to obtain the AOC in 1936. Françoise’s father, Albert Masson, also joined the cooperative and she inherited his vines to pool with the 1.6 hectares that Jean-Louis inherited from his father Maurice Tissot. In the early years, Jean-Louis was part of the Fruitière too, but after planting 8 hectares of vines in 1990 they decided to start producing their own wines. These days, Francoise and Jean-Louis are theoretically retired- but they’re never far from the daily activities of the farm. Françoise still helps with tastings and Jean-Louis in the vineyard.

Today the estate is now ably run on lutte raisonnée principles by their children Valerie and Jean-Christophe. The domaine, a 17 hectare estate, is situated in the heart of the AOC Arbois in the picturesque hillside village of Montigny-les-Arsures. Various parcels spread out over the municipalities, extending to a few additional hectares in Les Bruyères. And they produce the full gamut of Jura wines and spirits. 
The wine is bright and focused with excellent citrus aromas and minerality matching the nose. Will give any Champagne a run for its money. Enjoy with seafood, poultry and fried delicacies!

  • I did it!! I finally convinced John to love oatmeal! 💕
Or maybe it’s just that he will tolerate whatever I make in the morning when he is too groggy to do anything about it. 🤷🏻‍♀️
Since I didn’t want to shock him too much with my crazy over the top combos, here’s my applesauce oatmeal to ease him into full time oatmeal fanatic like me🙃

Convince oatmeal haters to love it too 👇🏻👇🏻

▪️1/2 cup milk
▪️1/2 cup old fashioned oats
▪️1/2 cup applesauce
▪️1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
.
Heat the milk in a small saucepan on medium heat. Add in the oats and applesauce. Bring to a boil, and reduce the heat. Allow to simmer for 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Mix in the cinnamon and pour into a bowl.

  • A young couple with a Big Dream started a couple years ago,  now have this unique beautiful spotless clean market.  A quaint eating area in back of store across from Meat counter,  hey a restroom too. Stopped in all ready had lunch picked up a few goodies.  Guacamole , Al Pastor and Chorizo great fun friendly service by all. Had Chorizo n Eggs on weekend OMG fabulous and made Al Pastor Taco one evening absolutely the very best bought in a Mexican Market.  The Guacamole chunky with heat I so Loved.  Going back this weekend full sit down try everything meal in the works.  Stay tuned Gringos this the real deal soon to be a Westland classic.
