One thing I’ve been playing with a little more when I go out is shooting with an eye toward converting to black and white. Getting to see the elephants fairly close up gave me a good chance to play with texture, light and shadows.
I’ve been falling more and more in love with elephants recently, too. There’s something amazing about such huge creatures who can also be incredibly gentle and compassionate. It’s hard not to look on them with awe and respect.
Day 1 (camp 9 EJS): I finally got to live my life long dream! Feeding the elephants, giving them a bath and play with them in the mud. ~ I am so proud of the EJS organization for treating the elephants with respect and educating tourists about elephant riding and the harm it brings to these beautiful animals. My dream is that one day EJS will free all elephants from captivity and bring them to the camps to live long and happy lives. #wearebamboo#elephantjunglesanctuary#thiland#chiangmai#elephants#backpacker#bamboo#ejs2019#travel
My heart is full!💕🐘 Every elephant has a story, and some of these stories can be very sad. Instead of riding these gentle giants (which so many tourists make a bad choice of doing) we decided to feed and play with these beauties instead. Definitely a highlight of my trip🤗 #Thailand#Phuket#Elephant#happy#DontRideElephants
For some unknown reason, other than I had spare time and felt drawn to see the elephants, I went to the zoo. This elephant I connected with and she stood in front of me waving her trunk. Then she stood in front of the gate saying “let me out”. This makes me feel sad. It saddens me people think the elephants like to be ridden, fyi they don’t. How do we set these animals free? #balizoo#elephants#ubud#love#pleasedontridetheelephants#travel#setthemfree
