Happy #EarthDay ! 🌏✨
Not a lot of people know this now, but when the brand launched in 2016, we actually started with a collection of clutch bags made with shell inlay. Sustainability initially wasn’t a key factor in our brand but that quickly changed when I saw how much waste was left over from our bag production (swipe to see). There were a number of reasons for switching from bags to jewelry, and the issue of sustainability and being eco-conscious played a big role in the shift. I think being in a tropical country like the Philippines and being around shellcraft our whole lives desensitizes us from the reality of this industry. Seeing seashells packed in plastic or strung up as decor makes it easy to forget that these were once living creatures that play vital roles in our oceans’ ecosystem, and overfishing has led to some species becoming endangered.
Our first jewelry collection, Amica, was actually made using the offcuts from our bag collection, and our latest pieces make use of shells that have been cultured or ethically sourced, and some even make use of offcuts salvaged from other companies. By being environmentally conscious and championing #slowfashion by working with Filipino artisans, we hope more people become aware and make responsible choices even in seemingly “trivial” matters like fashion.

Why did we write the Apparel Entrepreneurship book?
Because when we launched our 2 own clothing brands we couldn’t find one book that would include all the tangible, actionable steps we needed to kickstart our brands. We wanted to know the entire process from idea to launch and everything in between.
Therefore we had to write it ourselves.
So, for the ones that like looong examples, loads of stories, fluff and blah blah this book is not for you!
But for the ones that want to know exactly what is needed, every step involved and solid advice to start a clothing brand, then yepp, go ahead and order it right now. You’ll be happy you did!
