  • Since the start of December, along with @thisgirlcanexpo, we’ve been featuring amazing young women who have launched their own businesses.Today we honour a woman who has helped spark entrepreneurship in a ton of young people in Calgary: the creator of @minipreneursYYC, Tonia Brown!
•
Tonia came across this unique program on social media one day that teaches entrepreneurship to kids. With her son in mind and both a background and experience in education and business, her interest level in this cool after school program was sky high. •
Fast forward a year or so and it became clear that if Calgary kids were going to be able to take such a hands on and fun program, she would have to bring it here. MiniPreneursYYC was born and Tonia started delivering the program in September of 2018. Since that time, more than 200 entrepreneurial Calgary kids aged 7 to 12 have taken the program and learned the steps to creating their own businesses.
•
MiniPreneursYYC isn’t just about becoming an entrepreneur; it’s about fostering an entrepreneurial spirit and developing habits of taking risks and trying new things. Regardless of future career choices, these kids gain valuable life skills as they are encouraged to brainstorm, to give feedback, to present in front of others, to develop their idea and sometimes, to modify or completely change that idea if things don’t work out as expected. •
While practicing their sales skills, these entrepreneurs learn about effective communication and body language. While presenting their prototypes to their peers, they learn how to receive feedback and how to talk about their mistakes in a constructive way. While observing popular and noteworthy logos, they learn how to represent their own brands. And there is certainly a consensus that the part these Kidpreneurs enjoys the most is… Market Day, where they sell their products to friends, family and the public.
•
Many find Market Day the most challenging part as well – pitching their business to a stranger is no easy feat. These kids are capable of such great things

  • I LOVE delivering training ❤️
Especially if it’s about a subject like our compensation plan 💸
There is so much money on the table it’s actually crazy 🤑
And judging by the comments on my live this morning, the team were pretty fired up too 🔥🔥🔥

  • Mr. @jolly2129 , Founder, Consocia Advisory, spoke on his life experiences of #innovation and #entrepreneurship at the first of the Founders series lectures at JIMS (Jagan Institute of Management Studies). At the interactive session, he shared several insights on the opportunities and challenges of being an entrepreneur, often punctuating his talk with anecdotes and examples from his enriching professional assignments leading to the creation of Consocia Advisory, which is regarded as among the fastest-growing communication consultancies in the country. Each of his jobs was done with the zeal of an entrepreneur and the mantra to the young and aspiring audience was ‘Innovation and passion are the fuel for growth in life’.

  • You know those jeans from 4 summers ago that just fit like freakin' glove... until they didn't?

Stuff happens. Hips get wider, babies come along, and you're not as young as you once were. But do you try to stuff yourself into those jeans? No. It's awkward. It's uncomfortable. It's not pretty.

You know what you do instead? Go and find a pair that REALLY fit. That feels like you NOW.

Why aren't you doing the same for your brand? Why are you trying to stuff yourself into your 4-years-ago brand, or trying to just make any old brand fit? Girl. 💁🏻‍♀️ Make 2020 the year that you finally find the right fit in your brand. To do that, you need to clear on your message, who it's for, and how to share it in all the ways that count. My Brave New Brand Course is what you need before you invest in a re-brand, in a new website, in a new marketing strategy. In ANYTHING that's founded on that brand that no longer fits.
Are you ready to find the message that fits like those new jeans you look so good in? Doors to my Brave New Brand course close soon, so get your denim-clad, perfectly shaped booty into the link in my profile to join me!

  • ✨ "START, FAIL, LEARN, REPEAT." ✨
I heard this from @mrdavehollis this AM and was like, IF THIS AIN'T ME. But guys, it should be all of us. Whatever your thing is, whatever you're going after - your goals, your dreams: the only way to get them is this simple process.
So so many people stop after step 2. Is that you? That's all of us. The dream has to be big enough to get to step 3. And your attitude and approach have to be good enough to get to step 4. So often we let other people's opinions of our journey keep us from trudging on. Screw 'em!
What are you going after? Fitness? As soon as you start and you get an injury, then what? Business? As soon as you start you get hit with unforeseen costs and are now in the red. Sports? You train everyday and coach still didn't put you in. Or coach finally did and you messed up. Relationships? You ended toxic relationships only to repeat the same habits months later. Trying to quit something? Smoking, drugs, sugar, soda - but then just snuck one when you had a rough day.. What is it? What's your thing? If you haven't failed yet, your goals aren't big enough. If you have failed and given up, it's not too late to repeat - you've been learning from it this whole time. 💕
Do good work, be good people. 🔥 "Start, fail, learn, repeat". 🔥

  • I’ve been really quiet on this space over the past two months.

Taking a step back from SM has been a fantastic mental break for me and especially necessary to prepare for the next big milestone in my life - which is coming up in less than a month!

To all the people that have messages me over the past few weeks - my absence here has been so beneficial, and I thank you all for your patience 😘

As of Tuesday, I have officially put in my notice at my retail job!

And as of January 3rd, I will be a full time, self employed, world traveler; about to embark on the adventure of a lifetime 🧡💖🌟 Initially when I stopped posting consistently on this account, I felt a lot of guilt.
I would open IG, scroll through my camera roll, trying to find a photo worthy to post, wracking my brain for valuable content.
I then realized this was a SIGN I needed to take a break.
All this resistance showing up in my life was a sign from the universe that I needed to take some time to re-centre.

So what have I done the last two months?
I’ve poured my energy into coaching CrossFit, and become so much closer with my community. I’ve sold and donated 50% of my belongings. I’ve fallen in love 💗💖 Life is GOOD. And it’s only going to get better 🧡

  • A couple of months ago I was standing in my kitchen telling my husband that I wanted to start showing people how to make candy online. I was holding the baby and my 3 year old was running around. My house was a mess (still is!). I’ve worn activewear daily since having children, and I’m pretty sure he has forgotten the actual length of my hair because it’s always in a bun. I thought he was going to laugh at the idea. You know what he said?⁣
⁣
“Whatever makes you happy.” ⁣
⁣
Pre-babies, I worked in the product innovation lab at a candy company. In a nutshell; I invented candy. I would create recipes that would need to go from a couple of pounds to well over 100,000 pounds. I would have to figure out how to scale up those recipes and run them on the factory manufacturing equipment. I got to work on some really awesome projects (anyone remember chocolate wavy Lays?) and fine tuned a unique skill set. ⁣
⁣
If you can make cookies, you can make candy. If you have questions- message me! I will walk you through it.⁣
⁣
What’s harder than making the candy? Taking the photos. Figuring out how to reach people. Turning my kitchen idea into a business...but it makes me happy trying 💕
