  • Early in testing the wedge solution we learnt that a system wide approach was required to maximise the high-hands position.

Project 0.2 is exactly that. Three components, designed to deliver gains in comfort and aerodynamic efficiency.
High Rise 3D extensions deliver the necessary height gain and grip angle.
Arm Cup Wedges and Deep Groove arm cups work collectively to provide unrivalled support for the forearm and upper body.

#obike #deskbike #bureaufiets

  • Do you have painful knees?  Please read 👇
.
. . . 👉Exercise such as cardio, strength and stretching all help strengthen the knee and increase flexibility. Do this because too much rest can weaken the muscles surrounding the knee joint.
.
.
. . 👉Use the "R.I.C.E." principle -Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation is good for knee pain relief. For the first 48 to 72 hours after a knee injury, use a cold pack to ease swelling and numb the pain. Use it for 15 to 20 minutes three or four times a day. ❗Do not go beyond 20mins❗
.
.
Method
Crush ice,  wrap the ice pieces in a towel to be kind to your skin. Do this for 7days.  After that, you can heat things up with a warm bath, heating pad, or warm towel for 15 to 20 minutes, three or four times a day. .
.
👉If you're overweight, losing weight reduces the stress on your knee. You don’t even need to get to your "ideal" weight. Smaller changes still make a difference. You can make enquiries about how to loose weight with us @fit_fab_gang. .
.
👉Don’t jar your joint(s). High-impact exercises can further injure painful knees. Avoid jarring exercises such as running, jumping, and kickboxing. Also avoid doing exercises such as lunges and deep squats that put a lot of stress on your knees. These can worsen pain and, if not done correctly, cause injury. .
.
👉Don't let your shoes make matters worse. Cushioned insoles can reduce stress on your knees. For knee osteoarthritis, Physiotherapists often recommend special insoles that you put in your shoe. To find the appropriate insole, speak with a Physiotherapist. .
.
👉Don’t risk a fall. A painful or unstable knee can make a fall more likely, which can cause more knee damage. Curb your risk of falling by making sure your home is well lit, using handrails on staircases, and using a sturdy ladder or foot stool if you need to reach something from a high shelf. .
.
. 👉Get expert advice, especially from a Physiotherapist. They are trained medical personnel who help manage pain and helping you achieve a healthy lifestyle. .
.

  • Pain medication can help decrease our pain but is only masking the problem 🤕
.
.
Osteopaths directly address the underlying cause of your pain not only for symptomatic relief but to decrease the risk of injury in the future ✔️✔️✔️

Give osteopathy a try and see what it can do for you! 👍

  • Hello everyone! Today I'm sharing with you another swivel peeler project focused on Ergonomics.

My students worked on hand tool ergonomics, developing an ergonomic peeler handle, using prototyping as a key step in testing and adjusting their ideas. Following the Design Thinking process, my students used high and low fidelity prototypes, finalizing  the project with a fully functional prototype using 3D printing technology.

Let's talk a little bit about this project. While I was guiding my student during the project development I noticed something interesting in his design process. It was the fact that this future designer not only improved the fidelity of his prototypes as the project advanced, but he also turned to lower fidelity prototypes later on as the project required it. One of his first ideas was quickly materialized into three-dimensional form using play dough, then he also used other materials like foam and ABS. He resorted to play dough again when he suddenly realized that his idea made in foam needed an adjustment to include a wider range of users' percentiles. This is how design really works, you can use lower fidelity prototypes even in an advanced stage of the project.

The final prototype reached an advance stage of development and has the right size. It shows a smooth and delicate use of form, adapting itself perfectly to the palm of the user's hand and fingers. He totally nailed it!

  • OTs are experts in ergonomics! Ergonomics refers to the process of designing a workplace and work duties to fit the capabilities of a worker. It’s like fitting the job to the employee rather than the other way around. This process aims to improve human performance and productivity while removing risk factors for injury and fatigue. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Did you know that many repetive strain injuries such as carpal tunnel, cubital tunnel, rotator cuff and back injuries (just to name a few) can be directly related to the way job functions are performed? ⁣
⁣
OTs who work in ergonomics will evaluate an employees environment and all of their essential job duties to see if any changes need to be made in the demands, the surroundings or the employees body mechanics. ⁣
⁣
Some examples of ergonomics assessments include:⁣
•Assessing the computer workstation of an office employee⁣
•Assessing the way in which a laborer lifts heavy objects ⁣
•Assessing a mechanic who operates machinery ⁣
⁣
The goal for all of these assessments is to improve safety, remove risk factors for injury and repetitive strain and to improve overall efficiency. ⁣
⁣
Do you have an ergonomic concerns in your workplace? ⁣
