  • Knock and the door shall be opened,
Like the prodigal son welcomed home,
What was dead, is now alive,
Where despair, now is joy.

Ask and it shall be given,
What’s mine, now is yours,
Heart and soul, mind and body,
Your happiness, my heart’s desire.

Seek and you will find,
One who is waiting
To be loved by you,
This life and the next.

  • “Kia hua mere abba ko?” [What happened to my father?] His mother was always prepared for this question. He requested her son to get her pottery making instrument, some red mud and clay and her now chipped and cracked plate. She then asked him to set it up in front of her. He brought some water in an earthen bowl and some mud in a shovel. She gracefully wet her hand and then gave a spin plate. It rotated on its own, as if strewn with some magic with her touch and wobbled slightly, making a rocky sound. She took some mud in her hand and slapped it on the rotating plate. Then pressed the middle so that the mud rose on the corners and the middle formed a flat base. She wet her again and then pressed her palms gently and using her fingers almost gave life to the mud and it rose up to form what looked like a long-necked water pot with a wide bottom. The edges formed a wavy pattern as her hands struggled to keep steady.
.
Kumara watched her with his mouth half open. He was always an young awed spectator to a magic stage performance.
. “Tu apni zindagi jaisay banaye ga, woh waisay he banay gi. Tu uper ja to shan se ja.” [How ever you want to mould your life, so will it be. You want to rise, rise with pride.].
.
Then she inserted her hands in the middle of the neck of the pot and pushed them outside. The pot wondrously spread out to form a plate.
. “Tu zameen par phel ja. Tu shan se ja.” [You want to spread out into the world, do it with pride.].
.
She drew a twig from the floor and placed it on the edge of it. A line followed the edge following the spinning motion.
.
“Zindagi gol hai. Jahan se shuru hoti hai, waheen khatam hoti hai. Jaisaa to beej boye ga, kal ko wohi poda katay ga.” [Life is a circle. It ends from where it starts. As you sow, so shall you reap.].
.
Then she soaked her hands again and pressed both edges of the plate and it bulked under the slight touch of them and deformed. The only thing left of it was its flat base. The plate slowly stopped spinning.
