Myrtle Beach 🏖 was GREAT! 
It was my first time going and the 4 of us had a blast.
Tons of activities, tons of fun, tons of swimming, TONS OF FOOD!

I had fully intended on eating (mostly) well when I was down there...but ended up falling ALL THE WAY off the wagon. 😬😬

  • A client in Australia who I helped with her postnatal core strength. The Core Rebuild Program is so good as it is done in bite sized chunks every day in your own home at a time that fits with your schedule. You follow videos on your phone and I’m always here to answer any questions. This lady was quick off the mark and did this program when her baby was just a few months old. “Annie focused on helping me achieve my goals post birth and makes every session challenging (& somehow fun). My fitness has increased noticeably and I’ve seen improvements in my ability to complete more exercises & generally push myself harder each time. I find I actually look forward to my mini workouts as I get back on track after having my baby. Importantly:

  • BALANCE 
I have always loved to start my mat classes with this sequence. Balance exercises are perfect to strengthen all the smaller muscles in your legs as well as glutes and core. It will help you move more confidently and avoid falls.

Start by putting the weight on one leg and lifting the opposite hill then progress to knee lifting. You can add pulses of the knee up or leg extension. Avoid shifting your weight from side to side as you float your knee up, it should feel effortless (but its not... as you can see my supporting leg shaking after just one rep). Remember to soften the supporting knee to help your glutes engage throughout the whole exercise and engage your core foot more support.  Prepare for your airplane by reaching long from the toes to the crown of the head, then fold forward while keeping both hip bones facing down. 
Progression idea: put the back foot down after your airplane and add some lunges

I finish with a roll down with crossed legs for a great side stretch : toes together, hills apart then shift shoulders to opposite side

  • It doesn’t have to be perfect. ☝🏻 this has been a huge learning moment in making sure I’m staying on track with my health goals & being able to live without.. 👉🏻guilt 👉🏻stress
👉🏻”there’s no way I can succeed” attitude .. over my nutrition and exercise. 
Every workout won’t be perfect. Nutrition won’t always be on 100% on point. Your day won’t always be set up and run smoothly no matter how much you prepare and prep. 
If you get a day like that, it’s a miracle 😆

I used to say “ope (yes you MI people know what I’m saying) that day is a wash because it didn’t go as planned. #kids #work #alltheexcuses 
SHOW UP ANYWAYS! If you do- results WILL come I promise you this! 
Squeeze it in, get up earlier, make it a non negotiable for yourself 👊🏻

  • SOMETIMES NORMAL ARCH EXERCISES ISN'T ENOUGH🤯

On average a person will take 2️⃣0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ steps/day and for anyone else that is more active that number increases drastically. So why don't we train the arch to stay strong while moving instead of just when we are standing? Whenever my clients that I have treated for foot problems starts to run again the first thing they say the next time I see them is "my feet got really tired".

This exercise focuses on keeping the arch contracted while going through flexion of the foot/ankle as if we would be walking 🚶 or running 🏃 (of course this is exaggerated). You may find this movement to be difficult at first but it will get easier over time.

TIPS☑️
.
1] Perform 3x10-20/Leg (start off with a smaller number and work your way up to the 20 reps)
2] Once this movement starts to get easy you can progress to the next stage of difficulty (Stay tuned for my next video)
3] Don't curl or drive your toes into the floor to flex your arch (think about lifting the middle of your foot to the ceiling)

  • For someone who writes fitness programs for a living I sure do fluff around when at the gym on my own.

It’s not that I don’t know what to do. I’ve spent nearly 7 years making up numerous workouts every single day for my clients, I know exactly what I need to do, but that doesn’t mean I will do it.

Knowing and doing and two totally different things. We all know squats are good. Deadlifts are good. Pull ups are good. But we end up doing two sets of the seated row then we leave 🤣🤷🏽‍♀️

WHY? Because we NEED structure. We NEED someone else to tell us what to do so we don’t have to think. We NEED to know what we are doing is gonna get results so we can do it, leave and feel satisfied.

But seriously, swipe 👈🏾 to watch @jpimentel make his way up and down through the entire movement. So many things to love about this one from developing core strength, shoulder stability, hip mobility, and leg strength.

This is the uncomfortable truth for people that say they need or want to make changes, but don’t commit to the process of change only to then tell everyone that it didn’t work for them. 
_
We can be our own worst enemy because we refuse to commit to anything that should serve as a positive change for us. We can set goals for ourselves and get detailed at the first sign of adversity because, “there’s always tomorrow!”
_
I don’t know who originally said, “the best diet or training plan for you is the one you stick to,” but if there are basic fundamentals that you need to follow in order to feel better, follow them WITH INTENT to learn as much about yourself as possible. 
_
One week won’t cut it! You need to be consistent for weeks to establish new habits. And you know what? It can be HARD! 
_
Let’s stop saying XYZ  just doesn’t work for you knowing that you didn’t really do it. If you went all in for a certain amount of time, then you have good data to work with. 
_
Personally, I’ve done strict Paleo, strict vegan, strict vegetarian, strict keto, strict South Beach (shut up...don’t judge me 😂), and I have plenty of data on how my body responds to these things with a minimum of 30-days. 
_
Tag a friend that needs to go all in and just commit to something for a time to see what’s best for them. Let’s encourage the process!

    This is the uncomfortable truth for people that say they need or want to make changes, but don’t commit to the process of change only to then tell everyone that it didn’t work for them.

    We can be our own worst enemy because we refuse to commit to anything that should serve as a positive change for us. We can set goals for ourselves and get detailed at the first sign of adversity because, “there’s always tomorrow!”

    I don’t know who originally said, “the best diet or training plan for you is the one you stick to,” but if there are basic fundamentals that you need to follow in order to feel better, follow them WITH INTENT to learn as much about yourself as possible.

    One week won’t cut it! You need to be consistent for weeks to establish new habits. And you know what? It can be HARD!

    Let’s stop saying XYZ just doesn’t work for you knowing that you didn’t really do it. If you went all in for a certain amount of time, then you have good data to work with.

    Personally, I’ve done strict Paleo, strict vegan, strict vegetarian, strict keto, strict South Beach (shut up...don’t judge me 😂), and I have plenty of data on how my body responds to these things with a minimum of 30-days.

    Tag a friend that needs to go all in and just commit to something for a time to see what’s best for them. Let’s encourage the process!

  • Today was such a great day! I woke up EARLY…got a lot accomplished at home, dropped my son off at school and then had the BEST workout. I played basketball! 😱 I haven’t played basketball FOR YEARS! Probably like 16 years!!!! For some reason, a hard workout just fuels me for the whole day and gives me so much energy! I feel like I can accomplish everything!

On a side note and totally unrelated…I picked up this cute sundress from @Target last week. 🤗😂🤣

  • ☆ Exploring my back bend...
Since I have moved I haven't been having my weekly dose of acro so I'm having to find new ways to challenge my body. 
One of my goals is to achieve an unaided pincha. I'm still having to use the wall to tease my body in to positions it doesn't often try. 
Taking 20minutes to myself every other evening is my new promise to myself. I will either do a mini workout using resistance bands, or I will do yoga or meditate. Once a week I am promising I will take myself for a run.

I want to do exercise without relying on a gym membership. It is fully achievable. Once again - I just need to educate myself☺all in the name of #selfdevelopment

  • I love a good workout and I don't eat breakfast until I do my morning exercise (My punishment and reward for myself. Just kidding 😜). But I get bored with the same workouts plus it's really good to do different types of exercises and challenge different muscles.

Found this new fitness program and love it, plus the bonus is to hear her beautiful British accent 😁. #exercise #exerciseathome #igetboredeasy #youtubeexercises #loveit #inthecomfortofmyhome

Ok, back to the announcement.  It's been a little quiet on our end for the past few month, but it's for a good reason.  We are excited to announce that we are creating a new training method that will take your Tension Toner workouts to a whole new level. .
Why are we doing this you ask?  I know we already have a 10 minute HIIT style workout on our site as well as over 80 single workout clips on our site.  But believe me this is going to be even more amazing.  It is going to take the workouts we have and make it simpler and very effective. .
Information overload is at an all time high. I've been so ingrained in Tension Toner that I haven't really looked at articles and training that is out there now.

So I figured I'd take a step back to see what has changed. 
Oh. My. Goodness.
.
You know what has changed.  The incredible amount of information out there.  You say, well that's good right?  More information is always better, right?
.
Information is great, to an extent.  To quote Peter Drucker, " The purpose of information is not knowledge.  It is being able to take the right action." Truth be told, we wind up going down a deep, dark rabbit hole.
.
There is soooo much material, and truly it's gotten so complicated and confusing from when I started resistance training over a decade ago.  While there are many roads that you can go down and many great instructors and products out there, it literally paralizes you from taking action.  It's kinda like when you have so many chores and tasks on your to do list, that you just get overwhelmed and push it off even more. I get it. This time seeing what all of you might be researching, reading and watching hit home with me. It takes up too much time & in many cases there's conflicting viewpoints. .
All that being said, I am EXTREMELY excited to bring a new training method to Team Tension. It will be easy to follow, intuitive, challenging, and based on proven principles.
