  • On some real talk....some of ya’ll men out here felt this death pretty deep. How many of you have daughters? How many of you can honestly say you make every effort in your existence to be the best man your daughter needs?
Honor his memory by being that man and father Kobe showed us! You don’t need to go buy a #8 or #24 jersey now that he’s gone. You need to follow his example of excellence as one of the best dads to be blessed with beautiful daughters. Tell your babygirl how beautiful she is and how much you love her...follow through with actions that consistently show her.

  • I kept waiting. Kept holding out hope. Didn’t want to know this. Didn’t want to believe it. Didn’t want to have to. Just didn’t. Waited, held my breath, prayed from my lips, prayed in my head, prayed in my heart. Then it gets confirmed. Then I break. Then I cry. Then I remember. God is good. God is ahead of us. God knows all, sees all, heals all. God is here right now. I know men that don’t celebrate having daughters they way they celebrate having sons. I know men that don’t celebrate fatherhood or having children no matter what the child’s gender may be. I know men that completely turn their backs and run from one of the greatest titles, responsibilities, privileges that can ever bestowed upon a man: to be a FATHER/DAD/DADDY. Kobe loved his daughters fiercely. He fully celebrated their very beings and wore his Daddy badge proudly. He loved discovering what pieces of himself existed within his girls while watching them discover and choose for themselves who they would be. GiGi, sweetie, Mambacita, amongst other things he passed to you the love/passion/natural talent for the game. The joy on his face and in his eyes as you worked so hard to make the game your own was amazing to see, but Kobe has been looking at you and ALL YOUR SISTERS in love and awe since the day you were born. The joy on your face and in your eyes showing that you knew just how loved, cherished and valued you were as a DAUGHTER who just so happened to be the MAMBACITA melted all our hearts. Oh, you beautiful girl. I am so sorry to be at this moment. God, I wish I could make this untrue. Rest, GiGi. You and your Daddy rest. The time will come. We’ll see you both again. Father God in Heaven, please encamp you’re angels around Vanessa, Natalia, Bianka and Capri. #GiannaMarieOnoreBryant #GiGi #Mambacita #BeautifulGirl #SweetGirl #StrongGirl #KobeBryant #TheBlackMamba #TheMambaMentality #GOAT #LosAngeles #Lakers #NBA #WNBA #Father #Daughter #Love #Life #Family #SadDay #Heartbroken #Devastated

  • Man, we can be so good about dishing out advice to others and so bad about following it ourselves.
•
Case in point: Yesterday, my daughter came up to me and asked me to go outside with her to ride her bike. She wanted me to ride alongside her on my son’s scooter.
•
My first response: No, honey, I don’t feel like it right now.
•
In all honesty, I wanted to sit my butt on the couch and watch the K-State basketball game.
•
But I was immediately hit with a pang in my heart. Here I am, telling fathers to go out and live active, involved, healthy lives with their children, and I just told my daughter no to the very thing I say I stand for.
•
I was consumed with conviction to do the right thing, and truth be told, I felt super guilty as well.
•
Right as my daughter was asking my wife if she would go outside with her, I stood up and said, “No, I’ll go outside with you, baby girl. Let’s go.”
•
And she and I had a blast!
•
We raced down the street — she on her bike and I on a scooter — over and over again (she got a head start) and laughed and giggled for nearly an hour. It was so much fun.
•
And I nearly missed it.
•
Thankfully, I responded to that moment of conviction (and yes, guilt) by realizing what I was saying no to: a one-on-one moment with my little girl, who just wanted to play with me.
•
Thank God I said yes.

Let your legacy live on and shine through each person that you have impacted.

  • Honestly still can’t believe it. When I was first told about it I thought I was another joke. I considered the man a hero in my eyes through his career. Thru the high times and the low times. He taught us about #mambamentality and showed us how to climb back from the darkest times in our lives. #kobebryant will forever live on as great #laker #teammate #father and #hero We will miss you! #ripmamba #8 #24 #ripgigi

  • For the first time, in ten years, I laced up a pair of wrestling boots to do business. The preparation, thus far, enabled me to not break myself or feel like I was overreaching. Being in the ring felt like “home”, and I was grateful for the support and guidance on hand. *Franni wasn’t around for this chapter, the first go ‘round, and had to trust that I was going to be safe. Ross put me through the paces, a la 2007. A couple of local talent were available to lock up with, and I appreciate their willingness to work with me. This is such an exciting time for me to be doing what I love. Whether I’m sitting down, with a cigar, writing my next novel or in the squared circle: it’s all storytelling. Thank you for allowing me to share my story with you.

  • As a mother I feel this, as a Wife....I fee this. It’s not about how famous one is, it’s about the tragedy of the entire thing. This man was a father and a husband. Yes he was famous, but in this moment he was still a human just like the rest of us. He was going to take his daughter to do what she loved and what he loved with friends. Knowing this happens all the time to other families, but when you are one in the spotlight as he was, it happens to hit everyone at the same time. Prayers to the entire Bryant family. My heart aches for his lovely wife and other children in this moment. #prayersforthrbryants #kobe #heartbroken #oneofthebesttoeverplaythegameofbasketball #father #daughter #rip #lakers
