🧙♀️ “Tired little witch is napping” starring Rosie. 🧹
Rosie has been with us for four months, but it took her a long time to get her to trust humans.
Rosie is very shy and gentle, she is really a “good girl”. She never hissed or bit even when she was very scared.
😓 Unfortunately, Rosie had broken two of her fangs because her previous owner kept her locked up in the cage for too long, she chewed on the bars because she was so desperate to get out.
⚖️ After her first 2 months with us Rosie almost doubled her weight. For some reason, her previous owner didn’t leave the food accessible to her and instead fed her 2-3 meals a day. Rosie was too skinny when she arrived, we left her with a plenty of food 24/7 so she kept eating all the time and almost became too fat. But once she realized that she had a steady supply of food, she stoped overeating and lost some weight.
🐾 In the past few months Rosie learned that humans aren’t scary, got to run and explore a lot, started eating healthier and got a thick and fluffy coat.
📌 Interesting fact: Rosie’s coat colour is blaze, but unlike most blaze ferrets, she is not deaf. She loves her new squeaky plush toys and balls with bells inside.

🎂The plan was always to get another hedgehog… Channing and I drove to an exotic pet store hours away from home with every intention to get one. As soon as we arrived, we made a b-line straight for the hedgehogs in the back of the store, wondering which one would come home with us.⠀
“They look like pet rocks”, Channing said, disappointed, peering into the glass tank.⠀
I said alright, let’s take a lap and look at the other animals just for fun while we let the hedgehogs wake up. ⠀
All I remember next was this magnetic pull towards the ferret enclosure -and ultimately towards one ferret in particular.⠀
He was the littlest black fluff ball I had ever seen, tucked in the back corner of his cage. While all the other ferrets wrestled and nipped one another, he kept to himself and looked out to the pet store around him, deep in thought. I think Channing was playing with another ferret at the time but all I saw was him.⠀
I picked him up and set him in the crook of my arm. He looked me straight in the eye and that was it for me. Both of us felt it, I’m certain. This was no ordinary ferret and Channing and I were destined to be more than ordinary ferret parents.⠀
He slept next to our bed in a little cardboard box that night. ⠀
Two weeks later, we named him ‘Moose’.⠀
I can sincerely say our life will never be the same because of him. He unlocked a deeper love for animals than I have ever known. The Modern Ferret is so much bigger than just Moose but he will always be the catalyst that started all of this.⠀
He is so smart and kind and gentle and calm and silly and funny and so many more things.
This time of year is all about not having play days outdoors because of the weather now we have our new shed there's no stopping us! This isnt a perminant accommodation and hasn't been painted, or kitted out but they seem to love it anyway!
