An abandoned house in the middle of the desert. I had driven past this house many times and wanted to take a picture of this car for the longest time. I finally decided to stop, but when I got closer, I realized something was weird about this house. The doors were wide open, dirty dishes in the sink, magnets on the fridge, all calendars stopped the same month in 2011. One of the most bizarre experiences I’ve ever had. #film#fujigf670w
Sadly yesterday I was a part of the Raptors crowd at Nathan Phillip's Square that turned into mayhem. I hadn't gotten a chance to make it down during the playoffs so this was my last chance to really celebrate with the city. We arrived to an already dense crowd filling up the square at 9:30 am. They were supposed to take the stage at 12 but the Raptors didnt end up showing up until a little after 3. The sun had been out, draining everyones enthusiasm and by the time 3pm rolled around, people were restless. After 6 hours, they finally showed up and even though it had been a while, everyone was hyped again. The introductions then took take place and Mayor Tory started his speech. A couple minutes into it, me and my friend decided to leave early to grab a bite to eat as we had been starving all day. So we started making our way through the crowd towards the corner of Bay and Queen. As were walking, in an instant, four shots go off and the place becomes a mosh pit. Fighting to keep my balance, I rushed over to an empty spot. All I knew in that moment, was that I had to get the fuck out of there. So we start heading down Queen. As we passed by the victim, police had already started to putting the yellow tape up near him. I caught a brief glimpse of the him. There was a group of people around his body, and all I could see were his motionless legs in his blue jeans. After a moment I gathered myself and we left towards Dundas Square. As were running, all I remember is hearing people scream behind us. We finally get to Dundas Square and the crowd there was pretty calm. They had actually been confused as to why a bunch of fans had taken the streets while the speeches were still going on. And then in another split second, another scream comes from behind us near the Eaton's center and all hell breaks loose. Everyone started to panic, screaming and pushing in every direction. I'll never forget seeing a parent and her 6-8 year old son frantically running across Dundas square only to bump into something and horribly fall down while an armored truck passed us. It was a memorable day in the worst possible way. Glad to see no one had life threatening injuries.
What did everyone think of the Euphoria premiere? HBO seems to be really rooting for this show to be their next big one. I personally found it interesting and enjoyable, really liked that it doesn’t hold anything back. Definitely loved the twist at the end too, some of the writing was a bit goofy and there were some strange errors made during production that made zero sense but mostly minor issues. Not sure if I’d recommend it just yet but I’ll probably stick around for the next episode and hope that it has a direction.
Around 1 o’clock Gregory goes down for a nap and I call this time “nap jail”. We have to get creative around the house to keep sane. Halloween costumes and scooters do the trick in a pinch 😂

Taken a break from Instagram the last few weeks to have a go at a little side project, a while ago I was challenged to try film photography and I’ve spent the last few weeks getting to grips with a fantastic wee #PentaxMEsuper , effectively re-learning what I thought I knew about photography. Still loads to learn, but it’s been a good change of pace to have to actually think about exposure, aperture and manual focusing rather than letting an iPhone / DSLR do the heavy lifting. Also conserving film and making shots matter rather than firing off loads of samey photos on an iPhone and never looking at them again has been a useful exercise. .
Development is a bit of a pain, nowhere in the city develops film anymore so I have to send it out, it’s a really slow burn process compared with digital photography, but that’s part of the attraction I guess. Definitely sticking with it! .
