  • 👫🏼Date night when you’re low on cash and have kids is hard!

The other night I snuck away from the house to grab a few yummy treats from the grocery store while my husband put the kids to bed. We ate tres leches cake, lemon mirengue pie, and brownies together and talked for an hour or two. It felt so good and was different from our usual nightly go-to’s of working, vegging out on Netflix, or scrolling on our phones.

And sometimes that’s date night when you’ve got 3 kids and limited funds.🤷🏼‍♀️ It’s expensive to hire a babysitter AND go to a movie or grab dinner.

But we do need to prioritize our relationship! It is SO important. It doesn’t have to cost much, or anything. Being more intentional can make a huge difference. Connecting and spending quality time together is what matters.

Do you have a favorite frugal or free date idea? I’d love to put some together for a blog post so please share all your ideas!!💕

  • The money podcast with @Elysesnipes_collective is available for download on her “Trailercast” podcast! ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
This is my first podcast I have ever done, and I’m honored it was with Elyse! She is a breath of fresh air! I’ve seen her speak several times at various events, and I really enjoy her podcast. She speaks truth, wisdom, and she has a gift of making you feel comfortable, and at home. I’m hoping that this podcast will start an intentional conversation about money, your beliefs and values surrounding money, and the freedom and possibility of becoming debt-free.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Some of the things we talked about:⁣⁣
*Our journey paying off $266,000 of debt and why it was hard AND transformational.⁣⁣
*How money can be seen as a tool to achieve your financial goals, and not an obstacle.⁣⁣
*The importance of having an accountability partner.⁣⁣
*The importance of having a budget, why they are fun & not constraining, and how budgets provides clarity.⁣⁣
*How everyone’s debt-free journey will look differently, and why it’s important to do what’s best for YOUR family. ⁣⁣
*Difficult money conversations.⁣⁣
*Why we never told anyone how much debt we paid off until fairly recently (We finished paying off our debt 6 years ago).⁣⁣
*Why I was thankful for our debt-free journey, to have the opportunity to work more, and how it gave me a different definition of gratitude. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Most importantly, I hope that people realize that anyone can become debt-free. Being in debt doesn’t have to be a lifetime sentence. It also doesn’t have to be a dismal, boring, debt-free journey. It can be whatever you want it to be.
I am your average nurse, and my husband and I did it! So can you! If you are looking for a guide on how to get started, sign up for my free “Healthy Finances”, 4-day, mini-bootcamp (link is in my profile)⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Check out the podcast if you get a chance, and let me know what you think! ***In the comments below, let me know something you want to do once you become debt-free! I’ll be randomly picking 2 comments below that will be gifted a starbucks cup of coffee! Will announce the winners here on Wednesday (Will close the comments on Tuesday at midnight, PST**

  • Two posts in one day! Hahaha mom life, I've been meaning to post both of these and finally have some time so just going ahead with the double posts!

Our 2020 budget numbers! A couple of caveats. Our income numbers here are our take-home pay. I contribute 10% of my income to a traditional 401(k) and get a 5% contribution from my employer. My husband contributes 8% right now and gets a 1.5% match (working on getting him to up his contribution). I also contribute $3k a year to an HSA and get a $1k match from my employer. I pay for health, vision, dental for myself and my daughter, life insurance for myself. Our income is also based on getting 4 paychecks per month. I get paid weekly, so 4 months of the year I get an "extra" paycheck, and my husband biweekly so 2 months of the year he gets an "extra" paycheck. We throw all of that to debt and / or savings and don't budget that money! (Pro tip for anyone paid weekly or biweekly). The third slide is our sinking accounts and our goals for the end of the year. We just divide our monthly goals by 12 and then automate that much to go to that account per month! I'll post more on this later, but this post already was such a word vomit. 😂

  • YOU ONLY HAVE TWO OPTIONS...
•
1) Work hard and take risks and you’ll live a life of meaning, have freedom and security and have amazing experiences.
•
Or
•
2) You’ll live a hard life and be at risk.
•
I see way too many people cutting corners, avoiding the hard work, playing it safe and becoming allergic to risk.
•
You’re making yourself soft.
•
You’re leaving opportunities on the table and it’s leading you to a hard life where YOU, your finances, your family’s future, and your health are going to suffer and be at risk.
•
Do the work now. Do it everyday. Take the risks that others won’t.
•
Build a lifetime of wealth, security, freedom, health and experiences while you still can.

  • Newsflash: Bitcoin has just collapsed under $9,000 for the first time in months. The cryptocurrency is down some 10% in the past 24 hours, trading at $8,665 as of the time of writing this price update.

Altcoins have been absolutely destroyed. Ethereum has shed 13% in the past 24 hours; Bitcoin Cash, -20%. The market capitalization of the cryptocurrency market has collapsed all the way to $240 billion.

With this massive flash crash, Bitcoin has shed an array of clear support levels — the descending triangle bottom of ~$9,500, the horizontal support of $9,400, and key moving averages. A daily and weekly close at these levels could thus be disastrous for bulls, at least in the medium-term.

It may not be curtains closed for this bull market, however. A loss of a descending triangle doesn’t necessarily mean the end of a bull run. In 2017, Bitcoin similarly shed a triangle, to only rally above it in the months that followed.

Are we bouncing back up or continuing lower? Post your thoughts below!

  • Every day as I groggily wake out of bed at 6 AM I remind myself how I am so blessed to work from home.
I teach a few classes from my home office, spend the day with my kids and work on stuff for my haircare / skincare business in my "free" time.

I've had a lot of jobs over the years...some more important or unusual than others:
4th grade teacher
admissions counselor
janitor
server
jewerly consultant
And one time I was even studying to be an insurance agent but before I started on the job I blew that off to go back in the classroom 🤷‍♀️ Now my commute is to my office or living room. I answer to myself. Make my own schedule. Plan my day based on what I want to do.

I never imagined I'd be able to make a full time income from online teaching and my at home business. For the last 4 months my income had been able to pay our mortgage, car payment and help to pay down our cc debt.

I've matched the salary I use to make at my past jobs so in 2020 I plan to continue to grow my online business. My goals are to upgrade our vehicles and be able to plan another amazing family vacation.

I don't think my story is unique and I'm always happy to share these opportunities with other moms who are looking to make some extra cash too. I know how difficult it can be to juggle being a parent and making a living but it doesn't have to be ❤
