Both pieces are still works in progress, but I’m kinda obsessed with this new *direction*. (see what I did there? 😏 also, can’t even take credit. Someone commented that remark on one of my recent posts, and I was like — oh, that’s clever! 😂)
Trying new things, exploring and pushing the boundaries of my media, as always. Trusting the process. 💛
Paintings available May 2019.
Driving While Black Exhibition- “Through my artwork I attempt to bridge the gap, to humanize the dehumanized. So that we can connect to people on an emotional level, and not see them as stereotypes, statistics, or caricatures but see them as fully realized human beings.”

“A mourning dove’s beauty is an understated one: the colors of its feathers ranging through various shades of gray and drab violet, often with a striking splash of turquoise around the eyes.” - Jonathan Miles

"Calm before storms" Friesian Horse acrylic on canvas painting that I have recently completed for an art gallery exhibition 😊 I'll be keeping this painting as I have always wanted a Friesian stallion. But the horse stud in town sells them for a minimum of 15k lol so this painting is the closest I will get to owning one 😅
#Process for the March installment of #ObservedSF . Pens everywhere, paints at the ready, sharpener within reach. These illustrations of the recent Writers Grotto event at The Bindery. It’s something being in a room with perennially witty humans. The one-liners flew fast and furious. The gathering celebrated recent book releases from Vanessa Hua, Ingrid Rojas Contreras, Mary Jo McConahay, Beth Winegarner, Constance Hale, Christine O’Brien, Devi S Laskar, Rachel Levin, and Maw Shein Win. I overheard gripping conversations about sentence structure, and wild animals in urban cities. Caroline Paul looks like a superhero in person, so that’s how I drew her. Laura Fraser’s coat was a vision. Man-buns and fleece were well-represented. Mescal negronis and red wine were served. When the evening wrapped, I felt smarter and well-read. The next column drops March 31st.

Polly, want a magnet?
This is the second of two free art magnets I dropped a few days ago for you to find and take home.
Please forgive the lateness of these #freeartfriday post, I’ve been dropping off artwork at galleries and clients all week and I leave for a conference in Seattle on tomorrow. Further on my adventures with @gabecolors, you can look for this free art magent located in the historic Old zoo park within @griffithpark, built in 1914 and closed in 1960 for the new zoo built right down the road. This magnet can be found if you look up high and have a tall friend to help you get it. Mad props for this collaborative effort. I couldn’t have reached this without help. Thanks Gabe. You rock. Also how rad is it that the colors in the magnet totally match the parrot? I love those crazy synchronicities.
The pictures (scroll) are your clues to the location.
If you find it- it’s yours (finder’s keepers).
Please take a pic & if you can tag me and share, so I can mark it found! I will post once when they have been found on the original post.
Check out my previous posts for the others available in my free street-art scavenger hunt.
Be sure to follow for more locations- I’m posting these all over LA in famous locations or when I travel.
Los Angeles- art scavenger hunt is ON!
Go and get it!
