  • So many of us see fitness as an 8 week challenge you go through then you’re beautiful and fit and healthy.. but in reality, 1 week, 8 weeks, 10 weeks of hard work for a challenge + going back to your “normal” habits right after will NEVER outweigh small changes & slow progress you make in your daily life. 🌱⁣

My entire life when I told people I wanted to loose weight, get leaner, or bodybuild... the frequent response was “you’re so fit, you don’t need to loose weight.” ⁣

At the end of the day, I was active, I was an athlete, but I was not healthy. And I knew it. 🌪⁣

Working out 20 hours a week doesn’t make you “healthy.” Eating 1500 calories for a challenge or having 4 shakes a day without nutritious foods may lead to a little fat loss but does not make you “healthy” and often isn’t sustainable. 😪⁣

In the past I would eat what I thought was healthy during the week & eat EVERYTHING on the weekends, it was okay, it was “cheat day”🍻 ⁣

After each of the 5 challenges I did & bodybuilding prep, I would gain a lot of my weight back. After bodybuilding I gained 30 pounds. I had no practical skills about wellness or how to maintain a healthy diet. 🍕⁣

✨What I had to realIze was that no 8 week challenge would change my life/wellness completely even if I didn’t figure out how to work the new into my old habits, one step at a time.🚶‍♀️⁣

The thing about eating healthy and wellness is that you have to integrate it into your life, not try to make a 180. 🔄⁣
⁣
I didn’t look in the mirror pleased with my body until I learned what foods made me feel good, ate salad because I wanted natural energy, and exercised because it gave a purpose to my mornings before work. 🥗 🏋🏼‍♀️⁣

This is my body now, and I am damn proud of it. This physical form is so great because it is truly just a vessel of the healthy habits I have implemented, the changes I have made in my mindset and the hard work I have rocked over the last few years to give me the best chance at a long healthy life possible. ✨⁣

  • GOODMORNING🤪 this is me at 7am half awake, half brain dead, little to no sleep, & partially delusional bc it’s finals week along with working late nights at my job🥴 but I’m sooo happy bc today is my last day of exams & I’m going out of town tomorrow whoooohooooo!! If you’ve had a rough couple of weeks or just a rough week in general don’t worry it’s almost over!! And tomorrow is FRIYAY🤗 we’re gonna finish the week strong!👏🏼

  • 🔥5 UNWRITTEN RULES TO FOLLOW BEFORE YOU DECIDE TO OPEN A PERSONAL TRAINING FACILITY/GYM!! 1️⃣ 5 Years, 10K Hours of Training/Experience - This is a MINIMUM requirement before you even start to think about venturing out on your own. In order to truly appreciate the fitness industry, you have to live and love the grind. Early mornings, late nights, and intensive customer service. This will be intensified even more once you open the doors of your own facility. 
2️⃣ Train and Mentor Other Trainers and Interns - Rule one should be accomplished first, or at least close to it. You must earn the respect of your peers so they too can follow your lead. A wise person in the industry once told me that personal trainers are the heartbeat of any club. Having a great staff will determine your success. So, you must find a way to lead them towards greatness. But first, you must walk the walk and know what it is like to be in their shoes. This goes for any job at a gym ( see #3). 3️⃣ Work In Multiple Areas Of The Fitness and Health Industry
- Being a great personal trainer is the start. Also working the front desk, on a fitness staff, cleaning a facility or locker room, working at a health food/supplement store, working at a corporate wellness site, speaking, writing, and nowadays social media will help in your adventure. Some form of management position at a facility, even if it’s in the aquatics, customer service or whatever area of a club all help. You should even teach group fitness classes even if you don’t want to. Experience is the teacher. 
4️⃣ Workout Yourself and Try Everything - First, you have to stay in respectable shape. You don’t have to compete in a bodybuilding show or CrossFit competition, but you need to be somewhat fit and continue to stay fit. Also, try everything. Yoga, Pilates, CrossFit, Orange Theory, running groups, Zumba, whatever. Try it all. You have to understand all of what the industry has to offer in order to relate to people. You also need to know everything that is out there so explore as much as possible. 
5️⃣ Go All In - Personal training is not a hobby. It is a career and a lifestyle. If you open your own facility this goes up 10 fold.

  • These questions help you tap into what psychology calls pain points and pleasure points.  If you want to level up your motivation, DO this exercise on a paper or your phone.  And for each point, think about your answers accross time.  For example, what has this bad habit cost me in the past?  What has it cost me today and this week?  What will it cost me next year?  20 years?

I especially like focusing on what it will feel like when I achieve a certain goal.
