  • ✨My Story On “Why Fitness?”✨
.
.
With anything you do in your life, asking yourself why it’s important to you is essential - it keeps you the right mindset. Fitness is no different.
.
.
I found fitness at a time in my life where I was at my lowest - mentally and physically. So how did someone who could barely get herself out of bed even make it to the gym in the first place? So why fitness for me?
.
.
HERE’S WHY:
🔹 Fitness has helped me learn how to FOCUS ON MYSELF. The time I spend working out is time that is FULLY devoted to me - no distractions, no thinking about other things.
🔹 Fitness has helped me learn how to LOVE MY BODY. It has made me realize that I do not have to be a size zero to be beautiful. I’ve learned to embrace my muscles, curves, and strength.
🔹 Fitness has helped me FEEL HAPPIER and RELEASE NEGATIVE ENERGY. I truly believe fitness saved my life. Working out has been an outlet for me to release negative energy. There’s just something about lifting heavy weights that releases all my feelings of anxiousness and sadness. The positive surge of energy I feel after workouts is indescribable.
.
.
These are just 3 of the MANY reasons why today, after 3+ years later, I STILL believe this was one of the best decisions of my life and why I am so dedicated. It’s not just about looking good physically. It’s about FEELING good mentally AND physically.
.
.
What’s your why?

  • It's easy to get caught in the mindset of expecting see your strength go up every time you go to the gym.
-
Because, when you first start out, your strength *will* go up nearly every time you go to the gym.
-
But the stronger you get, the harder it gets to gain strength.
-
In the same way you can't expect to lose weight every time you step on the scale, you can't expect to gain strength every time you go to the gym.
-
And in the same way losing scale weight isn't the only way to know you're losing fat (measurements go down, bf goes down, clothes fit better, you feel better, look better in the mirror, etc)...adding weight to the bar isn't the only way to know you're getting stronger (use better form with the same weight, do more reps with the same weight, feel stronger with the same weight, get less fatigued, etc).
-
All of that aside, I want you to remember one very important point.
-
You probably got "hooked" on lifting because you loved it. You loved how it made you feel. You loved how empowering it was. You loved the process of getting stronger.
-
Now, if you find yourself getting stressed out or worried or concerned or angry or demotivated because you aren't getting as strong as you'd like as quickly as you'd like....take a step back and re-evaluate.
-
Breathe. Smile. Relax.
-
You do this because you love it. So don't let it become another stressor. Enjoy the process. Take it all in stride.
-
Keep on going ❤️

  • It's non -negotiable : exercise as a part of your life

Is exercising a must? Yes ,it's a must. Our body, this wonderful creation of God,was designed for activity.Walking, running, twisting, jumping etc.Just like the way man created this wonderful machine called the car.Cars were designed for driving.

Here's a story for you.Once upon a time there were 2 cars parked next to each other : a Maruti 800 and a Mercedes Benz. The Maruti would go for drives almost every day at least for 30 minutes. The Benz preferred to stay parked.Of course, she would get regular waxing, cleaning etc and looked fab from outside.Passers by would stop and give her a second look.

Then, after 3 years, terror struck and both cars had to move to a safe place. The Maruti could quickly start and get to a safer place. The Benz, on the other hand, had a thought one just getting started; she looked great from outside but inside she was rusting from lack of activity. Thanks to the spirit of some passers by who pushed it so that she could start herself and she only barely managed to get to a safe place.

Similarly our body irrespective of genetics(car make) that it is born with and income level it enjoys ,needs exercise and activity.

Here the brands are just used for illustration.🤣🤣no hard feelings please... #Get_fit_with_akshatha #fitnessmotivator #motivationfitness #transformationthursday #fitindian #indianfitnessblogger #indianfitnessfemale

  • 💥Push Your Limits💥⁣
⁣
Happy #workoutwednesday
Today's video features one of my favorite exercises : The Squat 🏋️‍♀️⁣
⁣
Here's why you should be incorporating squats into your routine : ⁣
• Squats will help you build muscle in your entire body! Not only do squats target your leg muscles (quadriceps, hamstrings, calves), they also create an anabolic environment which promotes body wide muscle building ⁣
•Squats increase core strength and improves flexibility ⁣
⁣
How to do squats properly:⁣
• Warm Up⁣
• Stand with your feet shoulder width apart⁣
• Slowly bend your knees, hips, and ankles until you reach a 90 degree angle⁣
•Keep your back straight, neutral spine and chest / shoulders up ⁣
• Return to your starting position- repeat 10-12 times and do 2-3 sets for beginners ⁣
• Breathe in as you lower yourself down and breathe out as you come up ⁣
• Start off light. Form > weight always. If you are a beginner I would recommend starting off with body weight squats before trying anything else! ⁣
⁣
Let's work together! I currently have a few spots available for my next round of online coaching & I am also available for personal training for my people in LA. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.

  • I still remember the day when I was in my 10th standard and I went to a park (Fragrance Park for Chd Peeps) with my father. He had some free time and we just decided to take a stroll.
.
I see this guy who's running extremely well with a superb form and pace. When we decided to go back after around 40 minutes, this guy is still running and I said to my father I need to talk to him. We literally waited there till he stopped and I went up to him and said how much did you run. He said he ran for just around an hour. I was shocked because I thought people ran for 20 minutes or something. I didn't really know anything about the big races and I thought those people were only foreigners. But this was a normal dude and never did I think I myself would be running these kind of runs on a regular basis.
.
The mind is much stronger than we think it is. If you really want to know how strong you are, give a read to Victor Frankl's Man's Search for Meaning and you'll see that laziness and weakness is all in the mind.

  • It's been a while since I've posted the tips to getting a little healthier, one day and one step at a time. So here is a summary of them 👇
.
1. 🚶‍♀️Aim to stay active throughout the day (step count)
2. 🥗Be mindful of what you eat - add more proteins and vegetables to your diet.
3. ☕Watch out for add-ins that might drastically increase calories of food, such as oils for preparing food, creamer and sweeteners.
4. 🧘‍♀️Take time out for yourself to de-stress and live life!
5. 💃🏋🏻‍♀️🚵‍♀️🏊‍♀️Find some workout you enjoy doing - it could be weight training or some group class or some sport.
6. 🍕Balance - it is totally fine to grab some pizza or cookie once in a while. Don't be too strict on yourself that you end up crashing.
7. 🚫Don't keep irresistible food at home to avoid temptations.
8. 🍎🥦Keep pantry clean which sort of relates to the previous point.
9. ▶️Just start! Don't wait for a Monday or any magic day. Start incorporating these tips today!
10.🔜 Above all, have patience, perseverance and consistency. No change happens over night.
.
I have described each of these points in detail in previous posts and linked them all up in story highlights. DM me if you have any questions.
.
Have you incorporated any of these? What do you think? Or have I missed anything? Comment below 👇
