  • 3 years ago today I went on my first run 6 weeks after my double mastectomy. I used the couch to 5k app, although I joked I needed a hospital bed to 5k app. 😜

It wasn’t pretty and people thought I was crazy. I’m so glad I stuck with it though, through chemo and multiple surgeries. Running was and is hard, however cancer was harder!

  • I was officially cleared to workout (woo 🥳) and of course the first day I book an early morning @classpass Knox decides to let us sleep in 😑. I desperately wanted to stay in bed but I figured I should probablyyy wake up and kick some ass today 🤷🏼‍♀️ ....the little guy clearly disagrees with my decision to leave him lol #momlife

  • Twinning with my cutie patootie @elicruzenslow ♥️♥️ No joke, I went to go put these leggings on and before I realized it, Eli said, “Look! We look the same!” He was so excited. We were getting ready to go to his kindergarten assessment, so I was like, for Instagram? Yes, #twinningiswinning 👍🏼 but for school? Twinning with your mom es no bueno, 👎🏼 so I changed into something else 😂 but we had fun taking some selfies as twinners for a few minutes. But seriously!! How is my 7th and final child in kindergarten already??😩😪😭 I literally have zero babies now. Anyone else have a kindergartener this year? Or any other grade that is completely tripping you out? 😝

“The trapezius (or trapezoid) is a large paired surface muscle that extends longitudinally from the occipital bone to the lower thoracic vertebrae of the spine and laterally to the spine of the scapula. It moves the scapula and supports the arm.” - Wikipedia

I have had some muscle spasms in my neck and shoulder.  I have visited my doctor, chiropractor, and massage therapist.  They have all determined it is related to this muscle.  I have noticed that I often “lift with my neck”. I have found proper stretching before and after my workout helps so much!  Using a roller, squishy ball, or tennis ball to assist in stretching and massaging are awesome.  I also highly recommend a sports massage to get any knots or kinks out!

Symptoms of pelvic-floor injury or dysfunction can range from a mild sense of soreness or heaviness in the vagina, to incontinence. More serious conditions include pelvic-organ prolapse, which occurs when the tissue between the pelvic organs and the vaginal wall weakens, allowing surrounding organs to bulge into the vagina.⁠

A smile can truly be the BEST mask you own. I take all these pictures smiling and looking happy but the truth most days is I’m usually far from that. Being a mom is the greatest part of my life don’t get me wrong... but it’s also the hardest. What I’m trying now to accept is that since having my daughter almost 9 months ago I’ve been internally battling my feelings of anxiety and often depression. Some days it was easy to hide, but the longer I hid the heavier my burden got until I finally couldn’t take it anymore and had to reach out and ask for help. ▪️
This is a topic that I feel like NO ONE talks about, I myself battled for months with feelings of shame and embarrassment for the way I was feeling because I felt that I was alone in experiencing this because mental health is something that is so stigmatized that it’s rarely talked about, even when we need it most (like postpartum). Everyone asks ‘how’s the baby?’ ‘What’s the baby up to ?’ ‘Does the baby need anything?’ and it feels like as moms were forgotten and I take full responsibility as being one of the main people who forgot about myself... but not anymore. I’ve finally taken the first (scary) steps towards getting help because I want to be the absolute BEST mom I can be to my daughter physically, mentally, and emotionally and being strong enough to ask for help is part of that. #mentalhealthawareness #postpartumdepression #anxiety #dowhatmakesyouhappy #findbalance #fitnesschallenge #fitmama

I saw a video of a mom on Insta saying things to her baby like “you are intelligent” “you are smart” “you are gentle”. That really stood out to me because I’ve heard that your voice becomes your kids inner voice.

I want to build confidence in my child so I try to speak positivity into him.  Your words hold POWER 💥

  • Ninja ❇😉 The last two months I have been working with my friends over at @resetufitness.They have really been helping me with any alignment issues, which is so much more important that I think people realize! 🙌 Also we have changing up my diet which has been really fun to see how my body reacts to different kinds of eating.🥓 I love trying different ways of eating, working out and challenging my body and mind in different ways so I am really excited to work them! I am excited to add some muscle and see the changes over the next couple of months. Stay tuned 🤗

  • Crushed my cardio day today. Umm.. whoever invented 1 legged burpees is a genius/I hate you. 🔥🔥 I’m showing progress in my stability and I’m jumping higher than when I started this 21 days ago. I’m proud of myself and I am only a quarter of the way done! 💪🏼💪🏼 21/100✅

Internally clasping your hands already puts some tight lines on stretch. Follow that up with some good ol’ shoulder flexion 🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️ and you’ve got a recipe for massive tension relaxation!!

I’m a huge fan of being as “lazy” as possible when it comes to mobility work. What I really mean by that is how can you use gravity to your advantage while relaxing as much as possible???

Instead of standing with your arms overhead, which can be hard for some of us, use an object and hinge forward letting your head fall between your arms. Let head and neck go with goddess.

Now, visualize expanding your rib cage in all directions on inhale. Let the rib cage come back together on SLOW exhale. This WILL take time. Changing your breathing pattern can be difficult, but not impossible!

Be aware of:
👾 Extension from t-spine or low back. If your shoulders are tight, your body will try to extend from where it can. Keep the front of your rib cage closed down (in neutral). 👾 Numbness or tingling. Come out slow and check in with a professional.

    Internally clasping your hands already puts some tight lines on stretch. Follow that up with some good ol’ shoulder flexion 🙋‍♂️🙋‍♀️ and you’ve got a recipe for massive tension relaxation!!

    I’m a huge fan of being as “lazy” as possible when it comes to mobility work. What I really mean by that is how can you use gravity to your advantage while relaxing as much as possible???

    Instead of standing with your arms overhead, which can be hard for some of us, use an object and hinge forward letting your head fall between your arms. Let head and neck go with goddess.
