Lan is about to finish his first 12 weeks of training with me which has been a great success. We have made improvements across all his lifts - compounds and accessory. Even though Lan's goals are purely strength focused, I dedicated the first 12 weeks of his training to building his volume and increasing his caloric intake.  Get swole AF before we get strong AF!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Why? Volume + caloric surplus = muscle
More muscle leads to a greater potential for strength.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The Plan:
Food-wise Lan wasn't consuming enough calories, which to be honest wasn't surpising. He has a sedentary job and his workload in gym wasn't very high. We  increased his caloric intake based on how much volume he was performing each week. We also monitored his scale weight, making sure that over the phase that it was going up slowly by small increments.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The goal after this phase is to drop the volume and ramp up the training loads (weight). In layman's terms, the training will switch from getting stronger in higher rep ranges (6-30) to getting stronger in the lower rep ranges (5 or less).

Goal: Get Strong AF 💪💪💪
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⚖️ Body weight: 84kg ➡️ 87kg

Training days: 4 days

  • Woke up at 6:40am, got to the gym for 7:15. Power walked on the treadmill at an incline of 2.5 for 30 mins. Did an ab circuit for just 15 minutes then finished on the stair master. Back again after work at 7pm for round two, ran 4K then did a light back session. Hump day done right 🤟🏽
