falling in love with fitness means falling in love with the process. #SoulCup has inspired me to branch out and become a student again - so not only will I be riding 10 classes outside of my Soul schedule, I will also be exploring with some pilates, yoga and strength training!

Today, I loved putting together my sweat schedule for the week, booking those classes and jotting them down in my planner. Deciding to show up for MYSELF and it feels so good.✨
Whether you’re booking a bike, mat, etc., it’s so so important to plan ahead to hold yourself accountable. Share your schedule with your friends and hopefully, they’ll join in on the fun. 
If you’re looking for that workout partner that will blow up your phone to make sure you’re in the 6:00am class, that’s me! 🙋🏻‍♀️ Let’s sweat together, Tampa!

  • I feel like it can be frustrating🙄in the ~late beginning~ of a new🔆goal.

After the newness 🤩of the first couple days ✏️wear off ~ your patience 😠and will-power 😰can get tested📃. That’s when motivation 💪🏻 can sometimes start to fade 👎🏻

Getting over the first hill 🏔 will set 💯 the precedent for the rest of your journey🌃. Not climbing 🧗🏻‍♀️over the hill can send you walking 🚶‍♀️ back to the finish line 🏁 to start over.  That doesn’t mean you failed❗️it just means you get to start again🤹🏻‍♀️.

  • What is the RPE Scale??? .

To simplify, think of RPE like this... how hard was your workout on a scale of 1-10? .

Keeping the intensity of the sets high usually leads to increased performance over time. There is also give and take with that approach. You can’t red-line a car all the time and expect it to last, same goes with your body. .
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
You have to find a balance between higher and lower intensity days in your programming in order to see results.💪🏻 .

I prefer to train with tempo workouts,  where the effort alternates  from moderate to high intensity at a “comfortably hard” pace.  Why is this my preferred type of training?? This type of workout has been shown to improve the body’s lactate threshold and challenge how long your body is able to continue using its aerobic system. 🏃🏼‍♀️💨💨

  • For those who are new here, or don’t know much of my back story, you may not know that I grew up as a gymnast 🤸🏼‍♀️ I also am a Certified Personal Trainer and teach Barre, Pilates, and Spin, besides all of the Nutrition stuff that I do. {#ad }

Since I have two daughters of my own 👧🏼, people often ask me if I’m going to put them into gymnastics as well. The short story: No - at least not competitively like I did. Not to say I don’t want them doing it at all or that I think there is anything wrong with being a competitive gymnast. On the contrary, growing up as a gymnast is what ingrained this passion for exercise and self-discipline that I have, and is one of the things that has led me to the path of health and wellness I am currently on - and is why I share it with all of you! 💁🏼‍♀️ However, gymnastics was my life for so long it kind-of took me away from being a kid… But I regress (and am going to save that full story for another time)! 🙆🏼‍♀️

It’s not fast, it’s not the most efficient, my toes to bar are not strung together and the fatigue had me tripping on my rope during my double unders. ⠀

BUT.. If you would’ve given me this workout to complete a year ago there’s no way I would’ve tackled the Rx version. ⠀
⠀
So today,  I went in with the mindset of “one rep at a time” and I completed more Toes to bar in this workout than I think ever before. ⠀
⠀
The point being.. it’s supposed to be hard, it’s not always going to look “pretty” and sometimes it’s going to feel Ike a grind to get through to the next movement. ⠀
⠀
But In this sport, as in life.. all we can do is put our best foot forward.. try and then try again. ⠀
⠀
Here’s to always improving, working towards progress not perfection.

Today I received something in the mail that I was waiting for.......but it made me think about something. 😊

Do you take fitness classes? 
Do you realize all the training your instructors go through? 
I ask that because I hope you know how much time and energy your instructors put into their classes and their craft.  And we do it because we want to be the best for you. 
My first certification was in the mid 80’s as a fitness instructor.  It took six months to prepare for that test.  Every two years I have to recertify. 
In the mid 90s, I received my personal trainer certification. It took six months to prepare for that test. 
So...Today I received my personal trainer recertification in the mail.  Even though I don’t personal train people anymore, I still keep my certification current.  In order to recertify you have to go to a certain number of workshops and then submit it for recertification. 
See....It’s important that we keep up with what’s new in fitness and especially what studies have shown that work and don’t work. If your instructors don’t go to workshops then they don’t know what changes in fitness. So these recertifications are important. 
And..... as far as the different programs that are offered, there’s even more certifications that they have to get. 
So for me, in the last 34 years I have obtained these certs along with my two above.....

spinning
Keiser
xbike
Cize
water
yasa 
different dance certs
various Beachbody certs
slide (🤣)
Reebok cycle
several weightlifting/ strength certs with various equipment 
and many more. 
Oh....and CPR, AED and Oxygen. 
So that’s my list but  when you go into your favorite instructors class, PLEASE REMEMBER all the work they’ve put into making your experience amazing. 
So let’s show some love to your favorite instructors.

  • 💫Killer core with gliders💫 .

🌟For this workout, you’re spending all the time in a plank position which can be hard on the wrists. Make sure to warm them up really good before you begin. Also, think about distributing your weight all the way thru to the ends of the fingers with them spread apart. Don’t just use your palms for support, this puts a lot of pressure on the wrists. In a plank position it’s important to keep your belly button pulled into your spine, don’t let the belly hang or your back sag. Let’s work those cores and make them nice & strong! .

Deets for each clip since it’s kinda hard to tell where the gliders are: .

•clip 1-full workout sped up 2x .
.
•clip 2-both hands are on gliders, swing one arm out & around in a circle, alternate for 30 seconds .
.
•clip 3-one foot on glider while in a semi bear position, actively swing leg with glider out to the side & behind planted foot, keeping hips square with the shoulders; go for 30 seconds each side or modify to 15 seconds each .
.
•clip 4-using one glider, reach back to touch opposite foot, lifting into a pike position, return to start, passing glider to the other hand, keep alternating for 30 seconds .
.
•clip 5-both feet on gliders, swing legs wide then squeeze back together & pull knees to chest; 30 seconds .
.
•clip 6-puppy loves, a super cute distraction during my break .

•clip 7-this was the hardest for me, they’re like mountain climbers with one foot on glider & the other remains elevated, drive the knees to the chest; they’re crazy hard; shoot for 30 seconds each side or modify to 15 seconds each .

•The entire workout can be repeated 2-3 times .

  • 2 years ago when I first became a Coach, I didn’t sign up with the intention of going full time, being my own boss, being able to set massive goals to fully provide for myself + for my significant other, nor meeting other remarkable women who decided to first commit to themselves & secondly commit to helping others too. I originally signed up to join an online fitness group to “see” if I could really get results from those ‘at-home’ workout programs that I thought were really silly and felt skeptical AF about.

But after committing to 21 extreme days straight without one cheat & seeing the BADASS results I got... I knew I found something super impactful and special. I didn't have the big lofty goals of the life I‘m living now, I just realized it was my job to SHOW others how simple, fun and consistent fitness can be.

Today kicks off week 1 for a whole crew of new  clients and I couldn’t be more excited to watch them commit to their journeys. I woke up today CRAVING my workout. It’s become a part of my daily routine just like food + water is. And why wouldn’t it be?! Respecting your body shouldn’t be something we do occasionally, it should be something we do consistently. I’m so freaking stoked to lead from the front and to show them the way. This truly is the best job in the world 💯🌎 #MakeTheShift #RecipeToLife
