So many reasons to train back!
-
✅Our back muscles cover a very large area of our upper body so not only is it important we train our back for fat loss but it is also important for posture! Most of us default to  hunching our shoulders forward over a laptop or at our desk, this actually weakens your back muscles and leads to poor posture. Having a strong back allows you to stand up tall and sit straight without thinking about it. This already makes you appear more confident and stronger on its own.
✅Secondly If you suffer from any sort of pain in and around your back, shoulders or neck (again could be from poor posture also!) training your back in the correct way can actually serve to fix this. Even if you don’t have any pain right now, training your back will  mean you can avoid it in the future!
💪🏽Strengthening your back is therefore important as it allows you to be strong enough to complete daily tasks at ease, improve your posture, relieve pain and make you look sexy AF! So get in there, don’t skip it AAAAAAND heres the workout…

  • Gym anxiety sucks. If I notice someone looking in my direction in the gym my gut reaction is they’re criticising me, or whatever I’m doing, in their head. I might look like I’m confident, but actually I’m just a nervous pile of insecurity. So how do I still get to the gym and work out even though I feel like this? The way I deal with it is generally as follows:
- I think about how little other people really care about or focus on anyone but themselves in the gym. I know that pretty much all I care about in the gym is the exercise I’M doing - so why would other people be doing otherwise in their heads?
- I keep telling myself how little it matters if I’m right anyway. What difference does it even make if anyone has a bad thought? Literally none!
- Lastly, this paranoia used to make me hide away from doing anything that might get me noticed, but I couldn’t go on like that forever. And because even with my attempt at positive thoughts I can’t completely quieten the voices telling me I’m being judged, I instead now use them to spur me on to work harder, learn more about what I’m doing in the gym (so I know I’m doing things right - which is highly beneficial in many ways!) and to simply become better all round, so that there’s little to criticise me for. If I have to have any form of paranoia or anxiety, I don’t want to let it break me. Instead I’ll use it to help me build me up. And that, in my opinion, is extremely important.

I hope this helps someone else out there who is afraid of what other people might think and letting it stop them from getting into the gym, because you’re not the only one who feels like that, and if I can use it to better myself after years of negative thinking then so can you 💕

A discussion that will never end - should you lift weights or train with your bodyweight?⁣
⁣
Well, it depends on your goal. If you try to maximize your muscle growth, lifting weights is the better option, as it is a lot easier to progress by increasing the weight.⁣
⁣
Nevertheless bodyweight exercises still have a place in hypertrophy progams. The pull up for example is a great exercise to start with. After some time you will be able to do 15+ reps, which is the best moment to add some extra weight.⁣
⁣
If your main goal is to do cool stuff with your body and you like to do some nice bodyweight exercises like a front lever, you should go for bodyweight training. You can still achieve a great body with it, just make sure that you focus on progressive overload by making the exercises more challenging. ⁣
⁣

Lifting weights for bodybuilding purpose (if you just want to build a well balanced muscular body). ⁣

Here are some tips, that will help you to get your chest training to the next level.⁣

☑️ SHOULDER BLADES BACK AND DOWN: Retracting your scapula, helps to get less activation of the front shoulder and also protects it. Furthermore it leads to more chest activation.⁣
⁣
📏 PLACE BAR AT ANGLE IN THE GROOVE: That’s how you ensure that your wrist and elbow are in one line, which leads to a better leverage - thus you will be able to move slightly more weight. Also your wrist is in a safer position.⁣
⁣
📈 FOCUS ON PROGRESSIVE OVERLOAD: For gaining muscle, you have to get stronger over time. This could be achieved by increasing weights, reps or sets over time. ⁣
⁣
⏱ INCLUDE PAUSED REPS: A 1 second pause at the bottom of the movement will prevent bouncing the weight up and also gives you more concentric and eccentric control.⁣
⁣
The mentioned tips are for all chest pressing exercises. ⁣

That being said, there is food that can indirectly help you create a calorie deficit. In very simple terms, a calorie deficit is when the total calories you burn throughout the day (total daily energy expenditure) is more than the total calories you consume. Fruits that are high in water content can help promote a calorie deficit as they can help with satiety, which means you are more likely to consume less calories. Plus, most of these are fairly low in calories as well.

For my birthday @shears_for_fears bought me this deck of cards. Honestly, it is the realest and one of the best gifts I’ve ever received. Every morning, I pull a card, read it, reflect on it and start my day the right way.
This card speaks to me so loud. In the last 2 years, I’ve completely overhauled my life and this card is a big part of how I did it. You need to get rid of toxic bullshit in your life. If something doesn’t make you happy, toss it. If someone doesn’t make you happy, walk away. If you want to try something that isn’t socially acceptable, try it. Life is too damn short to worry what other people think. No matter what you do in your life, someone will talk about you. Let them talk. If you hold your chin high and walk tall while you are having the time of your life, words won’t tear you down.
Now go be a badass.

  • There are varying definitions of the word “fat.” The photo on the left is me about 5 months ago.  Some may say I was skinny, some may say I was average, and others may say I was fat.  It doesn’t really matter what definition people place on me, what matters is how I feel.  I workout daily without fail and I looked like the left woman.  I wasn’t fitting in my clothes the way I used to, I was definitely “middle aged,” and I was unhappy with how I looked.  What did I do to change my body you ask?  If I told you I SHORTENED my workouts and dialed in my nutrition would you believe me?  I eat very well, I exercise and yet I still wasn’t where I wanted to be.  We Americans tend to out eat our bodies several times a day (each meal) and I was too.  By dialing in my portions and eating BALANCED the weight came falling off once again.   • There are varying definitions of the word “fat.” The photo on the left is me about 5 months ago. Some may say I was skinny, some may say I was average, and others may say I was fat. It doesn’t really matter what definition people place on me, what matters is how I feel. I workout daily without fail and I looked like the left woman. I wasn’t fitting in my clothes the way I used to, I was definitely “middle aged,” and I was unhappy with how I looked. What did I do to change my body you ask?   • Stop trying to lose a quick 10lbs three days before the annual my body is better than hers party 🤷🏾‍♂️ Stop putting so much pressure on yourself to lose an obscene amount of weight as quickly as possible 
It takes time.

A lot of time.

This is a “forever” kind of thing.

And the more you try to speed things up or lose weight faster or take magical fat burning pills or invest in Fit Tea the further you drive yourself away from reaching your goal.

Listen.

This. Game. Is. Forever. It never ends.

You will get better at it. It will get easier. You will get to a point where you don’t have to consciously think about it all the time.

So enjoy it. Smile. Have fun. Invest in the process. Give yourself the best opportunity to succeed.

And remember...if you aren’t having fun, what’s the point?
